Hey guys. Im new to the forums, but I've been actively following the Speedrunning community for probably 6 or 7 years now. The game that got me into speedrunning was Super Mario World and then later on Banjo-Kazooie. I haven't given BK any work, but I used to regularly stream SMW (Poorly).

I dont currently have a way to record my runs in  a manner that would be viable to submit them to SDA, but I have been working on Tiny Toon Adventures for the NES and recently managed to grab the WR, however there aren't a lot of runners. Still proud of the fact.

Im currently trying to find another game that I can grind out and try to do well in, but I haven't had any luck.

I hope to meet some new people through SDA and eventually get a bit more into the community. Of all the A/SGDQs I've watched, I've seen a lot of runners that really just make me happy for the community and really want to be a part of it.

Thank you to all the people who are already part of the community for doing all the amazing things you guys do and I look forward to interacting with  all of you more.
Hello, My name is Ross Watson, I'm 23 and from Glasgow, Scotland! Cheesy I've been following the SDA/AGDQs for the past year or so, It got me into attempting some games for Speedrunning. I've been gaming since in the womb <Cryptic Metaphor!> Sometimes playing games for up to 70+ hour sessions. I'm into most games and willing to give em a shot, I've always liked playing Console/PC games. I'm hoping to start doing proper speedrunning soon and get a wider variety of games to clear. Cheesy

I'm working on Final Fantasy IV for the GBA, mainly because I don't own any other version, but also because it looks better and there's a few bugs in the game that make it worthwhile.

If I were to speedrun this game, it'd be the Advance version. I never had the time to route it though, and the differences with the SNES version are drastic enough that this needs to get routed on a clean slate. If you want to bounce ideas off me, have me test something, or race me, I'm happy to help; just shoot me a pm.
Hello everybody - my "real" Name is Manuel, i'm 28 years old and i live in germany. I've been watching speedruns for a few years now and finally decided to register in the SDA-Forums. Personally i'm not nearly patient enough to speedrun myself, but i love hanging around on SDA/SRL and watching people who know what they're doing Cheesy

Hello everyone. Smiley

I can't remember exactly when I started watching speed runs (If I remember correctly, which is unlikely, the first run I ever watched was a five minute Super Mario Brothers run on the NES), but something about watching runs, and speed gaming in general, seems to have grabbed my attention and will not let go. I have more then once noticed myself playing a game or watching someone play and thinking "That could be used in a speed run..."

My current involvement in speed running is just watching runners on SRL and very occasionally talking with them.

I want to change some things in my life, and part of that is challenging myself to do things that I have not tried before. Speed running a game myself seems to fit nicely into that plan.

I am not sure exactly what game I want to take on, though I do have a few ideas I want to look further into. I am thinking of something that is on PC, is a RPG of some kind, and can be done in three hours or less, preferably less honestly (I do not want to take on something too long as my first attempt).

I hope to see you all around sometime. <3
I'm Adrian. I've been a long time fan of SDA and SRL, and now figured I might as well start an account here. I've recently acquired some recording/streaming equipment, so you can find me at http://www.twitch.tv/adrianvg1. Right now, it's a little empty, but I race some Binding of Isaac and I also speed run Killer7. I plan on looking at a few other games to run, and after classes start in the next few days, I will try to start a consistent stream schedule. Hope to meet some (or all) of you soon.
Heh, amateurs...

Hello there everyone. Smiley

To remember exactly when I've started to watch and get into speedruns would probably be impossible, but i think the first instance I ever saw must've been either Cosmo's stream or AGDQ 2012 footage.
After that I was pretty much hooked on speedruns though, i kept watching more and more, lurking around, until i started to get active in them, i joined SRL on Mirror's Edge, and just recently started running GTA:SA too, and racing a lot, but I've wanted to join SDA for quite a while now.

I love speedrunning ever since I started it and I love how the community is towards each other, so I would love to be a part of it. I stream regularly now and have raced and talked to people like: Zubmit, S, Ovendonkey, Joshimuz and probably a few others.

Thanks in advance and i hope to see you all around, and i hope to go to xGDQ or ESA soon Smiley

EDIT: forgot to put in my twitch link: http://www.twitch.tv/j4sp3rr
also i will get recording equipment soon to make my streams better quality and to make SDA recordings possible(if i ever get to that level)

Wow that's awesome that we have a wayforward programmer in the forums. Been a fan of wayforward games since some of their GBA stuff like Justice League Heroes: The Flash.

Hey everyone.
My name is Aidan, I'm from Montana but recently moved to Los Angeles for work. I've been gaming for ~7 years now, I'd say about 95% of that time has been put towards Halo. Before you dismiss me as just another typical guy who plays Halo (because there are definitely a lot of those) I'd like to talk super briefly about my time playing. I played Halo 3 competitively and traveled to multiple Major League Gaming tournaments while Halo 3 was still on the Pro Circuit. My highest placing at a professional tournament was 49th. I love the competitive side of gaming (which is perhaps what really sparks my interest in speedrunning) and I'm willing to work to get good at a game if I enjoy it enough.

Since Halo has evolved into what most competitive players consider to be a more casual-friendly game, MLG has dropped it from the Pro Circuit. In recent years my interest has waned and I've found myself still playing the now-almost-dead Halo 3 to drag out the fun that I can still find in the Halo franchise.

On and off for the past year (and sparked up again as recently as today), I have casually viewed a few speedrunning marathons and WR attempts. The idea of speedrunning intrigues me greatly and I think it's something in which I'd like to get involved. But I'm a little lost as to where to start.

So you know what I have to work with: I have an Xbox 360 and a Macbook Pro, either of which I can put towards any game I might choose to pick up. I have the ability to record any gameplay from my 360, so that won't be a problem. I definitely am more comfortable with console controls, but given the right game I could make the switch. One other note would be I like the idea of games that can be fully completed in one run rather than individual level runs.

Anyways, I guess I'm slightly rambling. This is probably not the correct thread in which to be asking for help choosing a game. You'll catch me browsing the site checking out videos and soon choosing a game of my own that I enjoy to start playing.

Cheers.
Hey guys, my name is Nicholas Conte, I'm 26, and living in Sewell, NJ. I found out about SDA and the speedrunning community in general because I saw Cyghfer's 2012 AGDQ Super Mario RPG run after looking up SMRPG on Youtube back in April. I was pumped to spend a lot of time watching this past SGDQ, and am strongly considering going to AGDQ, as it seems like an ejoyable experience both because of the gaming and the obscene amount of money raised to actually help people out. Anyway, I played video games about as much as any other kid until I found my first online video game that I could play on my computer back in 1999. A friend turned me on to Half-Life, and I pretty much spent most of my gaming time from 2001-2007 playing Half Life mods either casually or competitively, particularly Day of Defeat. I spent a few years in the WoW vacuum and now I actually spend more time playing regular RPGs than multiplayer games. Looking forward to finding out more about the community, and maybe even getting involved with speedrunning myself at some point.
Hello everyone!

Im Ahee and I am 21 years old student from finland. I have been speedrunning games casually for as long as i can remember and now that i watched the SGDQ i tought that maybe i could try even some world records. At first ill start running Duck tales remastered but probably going to widen my speedrunning scale pretty much.

From what i have been seeing from streams and lurking this seems to be a great community and im looking forward to be part of it.

Hey all!

I'm Mark and live in Northern Virginia.  I've watched speed runs on and off for the past few years, but found out about this community from watching Ubergoose do his Dark Souls speed runs.  I eventually found out about the *GDQs, and I've loved watching runs of NES and SNES games since I grew up in those eras.  I've attempted speed running myself but have had mixed results, so I think I'll leave it to the professionals.

Since AGDQ '14 is only 45 minutes away, I really hope to attend if real life doesn't get in the way too much.  Seems like everyone is really cool and laid back, so I looking forward to meeting the community!
Sweet Potato Fan Club
Hi.

I am Newtmanking, or Newty, or whatever you prefer.  I recently discovered SDA while my friend and I were watching a majora's mask speedrun.  I had known of speedrunning prior to this, but never imagined such a thriving community built of speedrunning.  So yea.

I am currently running (or trying) a variety of flash games such as Fancy Pants Adventures.  I also started running Super Mario World, after I got it from the Wii U VC.  I also enjoy Minecraft, and I am thinking of doing an Ender Dragon slaying run.  Among my other video game achievements include being able to play Guitar Hero blindfolded.  It's fun.  Not video game related, I run, ski and run some more.  Story of my life.

I hope to put out some good runs in the future after I get many hours of practice in. =)
Hello All!

I'm Scott, or Kryptoid i'm 24, living in London Ontario. I've been watching speed runs for a couple months now after randomly coming across a agdq video on youtube and was all like, wait, people do this live!!! So i've been hooked ever since. I've been tinkering with a bunch of games but I've finally decided on running Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. Doing weird tricks in weird gravity is alot of fun.

The community here seems really nice and close nit, and I never imagined there would be a place to go for people who just really like playing video games. Its awesome and I cant wait to become a part of it Smiley
Hello,

I am ajax444, been watching speed runs of games since 2011. been in and out of many casters streams and watch variety of games from NES up ps2, not a huge fan of video games past that Era, maybe mostly due to Everquest and WoW taking over that part of my life. I came on here cause it seems to have the most helpful community to get started in the art of Speed Running.

I am thinking of running Chrono Trigger an Alttp , or any other super Nintendo game considering that's my all time favorite system.
Hi ya'll

I'm Richie, and I live in Winnipeg Manitoba. I have been watching a bunch of speed runs for a while now and been meaning to pick it up to with some games I know that I can probably do in the fastest time. I've been just working on it for the time being and playing other video games.

Glad to be part of this community. Smiley

Hey Everyone,

I'm novat0.  I have watched some of the SRL crew for a while now, but was motivated to start speedrunning after watching SGDQ.  I am currently working on runs for pid, practicing SMW, and trying to determine the feasibility of a Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD run on PC (Save games and any% definition problems).  I am from Utah, so I'm hoping to make it to the next SGDQ as a spectator if nothing else.

My twitch channel is below if you want to see me play.

Prince of Persia Speedrunner
Hi everyone my name is Travis but I go by Maut online and I'm glad I've finally registered here. I've been a fan of speedrunning for a couple of years now and have practiced speedrunning my favorite games (Prince of Persia).

I'm from Upstate New York, roughly 15 minutes away from Albany and I've been speed-running for roughly a year or so.

While speed-running is my hobby, Commentating dota is my passion. Many of you I'm sure dislike the entire genre behind Dota or League but it's something I love to do. I commentate professionally for the American Dota League and Raidcall EMS One as well as a couple of other tournaments with NEODota.

If you'd like to watch me play some games speedrunning or not you can follow me on my twitch channel at http://www.twitch.tv/mautdota2
Hum, so hi! My name is Marc, 19 years old (born in 1994 if you read this later on), I am from Montreal, Canada. You may know me as Snow(PlaysSomething). Or maybe you don't know me, that's alright! Smiley
I am kinda new-ish to the SDA/SRL community, but I would really like to be more in this cool gang, everyone seem awesome and I think I could make some great friends here! I speedrun mostly Nintendo games such as Super Mario Sunshine, Yoshi's Island, Zelda A Link To The Past. I am looking forward to learning new games.

So yeah, this is me, hope to catch you around at either a SGDQ or AGDQ, I'll be trying to attend some if I can!
