Hello everyone Cheesy

My name's Nicole and I've been watching marathon vods all the way back from CDGQ.  I would look at some of the posted SDA videos for entertainment, and constantly forget when the marathons were.  Once I remembered, I would watch my favorite games get destroyed, as well as the highlight/blooper reels for each marathon.  I'm not really sure why I never looked at the message boards or anything like that until now.  When I finally caught my first live marathon at AGDQ 2013, I learned about SRL and races and wanted to stream for those.  I often race SM64 bingo, as well as the standard categories, but I also play Pokemon Puzzle League.  Someday I will learn another game, maybe Kirby's Dream Course?  I'm planning on coming to AGDQ in 2014, and hoping to meet all the people whose runs and streams I respect and admire.  Should be lots of fun!

Stay chill, be cool.
Hiiiii~

I'm WanderingMind.  Age 24, living in Miami, Florida, currently a graduate student.  I've spent most of my life in Florida aside from a few years in Pennsylvania where I did undergrad.  Outside of running stuff, my favorite games include any of the Fire Emblem games, Panzer Dragoon Orta, FFIX and XII, and the main Pokemon games.  I also enjoy reading, but haven't had much time to do so lately.  I've been interested in speedrunning for a long time and became even more interested after watching SGDQ last year (crazy how small it was then compared to this year's).  I was always shy about joining the forums until very recently and even though I joined last month, I thought now was a good time to introduce myself.  Huge shoutout to kariohki for helping me get active in SDA and speedrunning in general.

I plan on running Ar tonelico, which I'm working on right now with kariohki.  Eventually I would like to run Valkyria Chronicles and some other games.  One of these days I'll make it to an AGDQ/SGDQ.

Nice to meet you all!
Hello, everyone! My name is DownStreet. I have been a fan of speedruns for quite a while now, and I think it's finally time for me to get into speedrunning myself. What I'm going to speedrun I haven't decided yet, but I'm looking at GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, Half-Life 2 or maybe some N64 games. Here's to hoping that I find something I'm good at Smiley
Hi there Wink
My name is Patrick, 24, living in Berlin, Germany.
I really like the SDA community and enjoyed the marathons this and last year.

While I work on my masters degree in 'applied computer science' I develop websites, so if someone needs help, just ask Wink
I think speedrunning  could be something that I'd really enjoy, but I still have to choose a game *g*
Hello all,

I've been a fan of speedruns since the days of Quake.  It wasn't until watching spider waffles half-life in a half hour that i seriously started thinking about trying some runs of my own.  Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your outlook), spending the last 6 years obtaining two degrees in sociology cut my time spent playing video games to all but zero.

Fast forward to the present--and having the time to return to (mainly) PC gaming.  After spending countless hours bumbling around twitch.tv I saw how much of a community still exists around speed running and was excited to get back into it.

I am currently working on a single segment run for Metro 2033 played on the game's most difficult setting.  I'll be wandering around the forums trying to see if there is still anyone following/interested in the game.

In the meantime, I'll be streaming practice runs on my twitch channel  http://twitch.tv/duanejones

See you all around!  Woo hoooooooooooo
Hi all! My name is Matt McGrath, and I'd love to be able to change my username, haha! I was blown away by the kindness, encouragement, and just general all-around good-person-ness when I saw the streams from SGDQ2013, and I really wanted to become a part of this community.

I'm running the PC version of Maniac Mansion under DOS (instead of ScummVM), and I have it down to 6:50. I based it on Mr K's amazing NES run.

My run can be viewed here:

I know it cannot be verified given the terrible host, so it is more a proof-of-concept to show off what can be done in this version of Maniac Mansion. I'm also curious how SDA regulars feel what is the "official" version of Maniac Mansion, as some are copy-protected out of the box and some are not. I've done a ton of research on this topic, and I've posted some results in my YT channel.
Heh, amateurs...

All of those games are good choices for GTA and HL2 have good communities. Aside from the more notable runners like AdamAK, Oasisz, S. (both GTA and Source Runs) and Joshimuz, there are many more runners and community members that are quite active.

Hey everyone, my name is Michael. I live in SC. I got into speedrunning by watching AGDQ 2013. I was amazed by all the speedruns of my favorite games from my youth. I watched about 80% of SGDQ and it was a great experience to watch as it was happening.

My favorite game to speed run is Super Adventure Island II for SNES. I first played the game in the mid 90's and it was always fun. I picked it up recently and decided to give it a shot. My first serious attempt at it was a time of ~1:27:00. Since then I've gotten it down to ~1:02:00 and hope to get it below an hour with better execution. I hope to submit a good run to SDA soon.

It's really neat to see everyone's stories and to see everyone's interest in the old-school games that I enjoy. I own a ton of games for NES, SNES, and N64. I speed run a bunch of different stuff just to see what kind of time I get and how it stacks up against the best.

I usually broadcast my runs of Super Adventure Island II on Twitch: http://twitch.tv/lackattack24  Stop on over and say hello!
Hey geys! im very new to the community! just looking to get my name out there and meet some people!  im 24 finishing up school this year and looking to speed run some playstation 1 games Cheesy  i run track and field and bar tend over the summer Smiley nice to meet you guys!!!!!

Hello all!

My name is Tom, I am 21 years old and live in The Netherlands. I started speedrunning only a few days ago ( August 10, 2013 ). The first time I saw any kind of speedrunning was during AGDQ 2013 and I have been watching speedruns ever since. I like to watch speedrunners on Twitch, my favourite streamers are Siglemic, Cosmo and EnNopp112.

I am currently speedrunning individual levels on Super Mario Galaxy 2, so far I managed to get 4 WRs ( according to the SDA knowledge base tables ). If you are interested in seeing me playing the same minute for hours straight then visit my twitch at http://www.twitch.tv/botji ( shameless self promotion ).

I am looking forward to be a part of this forum.

I picked those games because they're huge favourites of mine, but it's nice that they happen to have good communities as well!
Sup Synaww here,

Currently running Banjo Kazooie and SM64, looking to run Goldeneye and South Park soon.

Let the music play!
I return!

Toothache here, back after a long hiatus from all speedrunning activity. Life demanded my attention for a while, but now I'm more free, so you're all blessed to have me back :-)

For those who don't know me, I'm a big fan of RPG speedruns, was working on FF12 segmented, so I'll be getting back to that, as well as improving my Pokemon Colosseum 100% snags run. I also am a big proponent of more obscure and poorly supported console runs, like the Sega Saturn, may do a few runs on a Saturn game in the future. For now, I'll be starting back on getting that record of Alisia Dragoon I've been after for so long (and improving the TAS too).

Feel free to take down my stream address, http://twitch.tv/toothache42, will be starting back on there. For now, it's good to be back, hope to see some old and new friends :-)
Hello there !
I go by Schild3nte (strange german name, not even a german would understand tbh) and I'm 17 y/o student from Germany.
I've played video games all my life pretty much, everything from Mario over Sonic, DBZ, Fifa, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot and whatsoever.
When I got my first Xbox 360, I really got sucked into Halo 3, which pretty much took all of my gaming time, and that hadn't had really changed.
If I'd get a new game, I'd normally end up slaying noobs on Halo 3 Multiplayer, a day or two after, again and the new game would rarely be touched again.
That brings me to the game I want to speedrun. The only game aside from Halo 3, that could really bind me to my console was Mirror's Edge and I started learing how to run it only a day ago.

If there's anyone arround here who's still into that game, maybe on Xbox even, I'd greatly appreciate any help or contact info (Gamertag).

Since my favorite game still is Halo 3, I'll maybe end up starting a speedrun on that aswell; also I'd like to play some older games, that I missed out on because of my age.

Final words for this introduction would be, that I'm merely starting to speedrun for my own enjoyment. I always liked improving myself as far as I could and get to know where my boundries are and if I can overcome them. Still my aim for ME would be under 1 hour, segmented Smiley

Have a good day everyone !
Waiting hurts my soul...

Yay for Sega Saturn runs! I'm going to try to get some 3DO runs eventually if I can break the 1 run/year streak I've had. Also, welcome back. Nice to see you're doing well.
Hey everyone!
I go by Pope Borg, and I would just like to say I love what you guys do. Raising over $700k in like three years for charity is unbelievable. The power of gamers is outstanding. Video games are a huge part of my life, playing them for as long as I can remember its awesome to see what the community has done. I stumbled upon some speeddemos on youtube last week and I haven't stopped watching since then. Hopefully I can help be a part of this wondering project you have going on here, and get some speed runs myself in. I haven't done anything like that before but if I can help raise money for charities by playing games, I am in. I enjoy RPGs, and older classic games. Here is to the 2014 marathon!

Hello!

My name is Alex, and I am happy to join this community of Speed-runners! I've been playing computer games, as well as console games, nearly all my life. Currently, I am learning to speed-run "Rise of the Triad: Dark War." I stream my practice, as well as provide commentary for this somewhat obscure gem.

Thank you,
Alex

Helloooo.

My name is Omar and I like to play Dustforce Any% really fast.
Been meaning to sign up but never did for some reason.
Hi. It´s Mendel from Finland. I´m trying to speedrun Gunlord on Neo Geo MVS. I´ve googled and found someone here who can do it 4 minutes faster than me and I was looking for a way to maybe ask him some questions so here I am then Smiley
Hey,

I'm Corgii and... I guess I speedrun Wonder Boy in Monster World and occasionally other games. I've been stalking the speedrunning community for a long time now and just decided to make an account. My streaming quality is cruddy and my speedruns aren't the best, but I am trying to improve both of those things. Anyways, it's nice to meet all of you.

Thanks,
Corgii
Hello everyone.

My name is Marcus, I'm 28 years old and I'm hailing from the moose infested glacier that is sometimes known as Sweden. I've been watching DQ marathons for years but I never got around to making an account on this fine site. I am currently getting into the very basics of practising RPG speed runs and am enjoying it a bunch. Though I am trying to get into running RPGs I am very interested in many shorter faster paced games aswell. My favourite runners are Puwexil, Josh the Funkdoc, Feasel and Sinister1 but I watch a ton of other streams and enjoy them thourougly!

Hello! My name is Mondragon, its my last name and at least for now I will not disclose my first name. Made this account very recent, I'm happy no one took my name! I recently turned 18, and I've been loving it since. I've always played video games, I have an unfortunate short term interest in things, I blame ADHD. I discovered Speedruns not that long ago really, I watched ADGQ 2013 videos on YouTube. I never knew that when I seen Oblivion beaten in such a quick time that it was called a Speedrun. My plans on Speedruns, seem short-sided, hopefully I may get to introduce a Fallout 3 Baby% one day!

I am quiet and timid, so excuse any of my posts in the future as they will get messy and confusing. I plan on staying here on SDA, maybe just maybe I'll find a game I can enjoy and enjoy speedrunning. As well I go inactive a lot, so if I do manage to befriend anyone, please do not take my unresponsiveness as a insult I'll get back to you, I always do. This community amazes me and gives me great interest, I am quite happy that such a community exists on this Internet. Thank you! Hope to come out my shell and become a very active member!
I'm so new I didn't even realize this was here until it showed up in my unread tabs.

Anyways, I'm CJ, I've loved speed-runs and TASes for years but it wasn't until I saw AGDQ and SGDQ recently that I had decided that I was going to start doing something about it.

Right now I'm currently working on speed-runs of familiar games in a way that you don't normally see, such as Megaman 1,2, and 3 but for the Genesis instead of the NES because even though the game is vastly inferior for speed-running, the Wily Tower was such a great idea that I thought it would be worth including. Plus the game is much more difficult than the NES version and thus brings the challenge. It also doesn't hurt that a lot of people weren't even aware that there was a Jump'n'shootman game for the Genesis.
I'm working on Final Fantasy IV for the GBA, mainly because I don't own any other version, but also because it looks better and there's a few bugs in the game that make it worthwhile.
Also, I am looking at ways to make what is considered one of the least speed-runnable games of all time: Puzzle Quest into something acceptable for SDA.
Lastly, I'm looking to make a single-segment run of Castlevania Harmony of Despair (from beginning to credits). This game is usually a grind fest and I thought it would be nice to showcase the game in a more traditional sense instead of using profiles that have already gone through the hours of grinding.

After that it's onto something regular like Megaman X and Super Metroid, those games were awesome and deserve more speed-runners.

Anyways, I don't really know how the site works but I'm sure I'll learn, and hopefully have much to contribute. Thanks for reading this, and I look forward to getting to know you all soon.
