Hello everyone,

My name's Michael, though on the web I usually go by VG or Mak.  I've been watching speedruns for a couple of years now, and my interest in the community really started to take off during AGDQ13.  I've thought of speed running some games myself, but with college and work I haven't really had the time to play games for anything but a momentary distraction.  Speaking of college, one thing that pushed me off the fence to go ahead and register here was that I'm thinking of writing a narrative report on the speedrunning community.  In the coming weeks I might post more about that on here, since I'm still gathering research and looking to conduct a few interviews with community members, if possible.
Heya guys!
My name is Brootus and I'm planning on making a speed run for Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen!

Hi everyone,

My name is Colin, My game name is usually Bangagong or NSplayer, I'm 27 and I co-own a 2nd hand/antique store. I've been playing games for as long as I can remember, Super Nintendo is probably my favorite system, but I enjoy all games, console and PC.  I started watching sda videos a few years ago but never took part in the community, I haven't have much free time lately so I hadn't been playing many games, but then I watched AGDQ13 and got motivated to hook up my SNES and dust off some cartridges.  I'm going to start practicing a run on Final Fantasy VI for now, and probably the Megaman X series and Earthbound later; I don't think I'll get anything worth recording, these games are just because I have fun playing them and I'm pretty much going to try to follow essentia's run on FFVI.
My real name is Michael. I'm an Art teacher/Artist for adults with developmental disabilities. New to speed running, although friends and I did it back in the 80's just for fun, never anything like what it has become today, hell we used to call up Walter Day and submit our high scores - Bit of showing my age. I first started playing games in '79ish in the arcades at the age of 4...maybe 5, from that point on I was hooked. Since I have a rather large collection of vintage games (my personal preference) I figured I'd start speed running. It was FunkDoc that first inspired me with his Batman runs to actually take the plunge.

Big fan of Castlevania, Simons Quest being my all time favorite.

Since I started practicing speedruns I've found myself exploring all sorts of games in my collection, some of which I only popped in once to see if they worked. Anyway, guess that's about it. I don't have a wide history like most of you, but I hope to establish some ground at some point. Right now, just exploring and having fun. As for streaming... Not really a social person, not that I don't want to be; just lacking the confidence.

Anyway, that's me in a nutshell.
Did I shoot 3 times or once from different angles
Hey I'm sorta new because I haven't posted here in like ten years.  Well even though I haven't posted I kept loving speed runs and I've been watching for along time. I just posted today in the MGS4 thread cause I had some hot deets that might be useful(not really) so maybe I stick around or maybe I come back in another 10 years. Well you guys are wizards with games and super cool with the marathon stuff, keep it up.
This was inevitable!  I have finally decided to get off my lazy ass and join these forums.  Anyways, my name is Whippin Sean, I'm 29 years young (at heart), I mainly play fighting games (every series since it's inception... almost) on a competitive level (beast mode in:  Tekken, KOF, GG) and I am also an avid racing game fan/player and held/still hold some WR scores in PGR (cause nobody else cares enough to beat them I suppose).

I got into speed running like anyone else, the second annual AGDQ and Siglemic's 64 runs.  Also, I am big on tjp7154!!  TJP7154!!!!!  Where you at?  This guy (and to a lesser degree FunkDoc) is the main reason I decided to get into speed running or at least attempt it after watching him play Mario 3 and Lost Levels for hours a night.  I thought... sure he's probably making it look easy but I know if I try I can do it too as Mario 3 is a game I adore!  To this day, I can speed run the first world fairly accurately so far lol, because of time and what not, I haven't spent much more time on it than that.

I look forward to contributing as much as I can to this community and look out for some racing game speed runs from me in the near future (time attacks).  Thanks for your time!
I'm Jesse, but I prefer Dark Almasy, or just Dark. I enjoy Role-Playing Game, some Shooters and Strategy games, as well as the occasional Hack n' Slash. My favorite game of all time is Suikoden (PSX) and I've beaten it 16 times in the last 13 years, I do at least 1 run per year. I occasionally stream on Twitch, when I'm not having issues with my laptop's wireless card, or my cheap capture card, and I play various games on stream.
Shmus
Hi I'm DbX aka dbx D B X  and shmus on twitchTV.  Some people might already know me but I never made an introduction here so here it is. I speedrun games. Only two of them decently.  Super Metroid any% (best time 47:19 :31 ingame) and Cave Story best ending JP (best time 1:00:40). I casually run alttp and smw for fun.

I take my Cave Story seriously, I might record a single segment (no save) run for SDA.  Thanks for reading.

Hey everybody!

You can call me Heasarc (real name is Josh).

I have been interested in speed running for many years but only recently began to try it. For my first game to speed run I chose Metroid: Zero Mission. Wish me luck!
Hi all, name's Travis.

Like many, I was introduced to speedrunning through SDA and I've been watching many SDA/SRL speedrunners on twitch for about a year now, although I am a lurker in chats so pretty much no one knows how much I've followed it during the past year.  I figured now was as good a time as any to make an introduction.  I started gaming with the SNES as a kid and I've never stopped (I'm now 23).

I've always thought speedrunning was awesome (the first speedruns I saw were AndrewG's Super Mario Bros., Siglemic's SM64, and Hotarubi's Super Metroid), but never seriously considered doing it myself until after last year's AGDQ, but I was so "busy" with college at the time that I never made consistent efforts to pick a game up.  I'm happy to say I finally started running Super Metroid last month.  I'm not anywhere near as competent as I would like to be, but I guess I enjoy practicing one of my favorite games so much that I don't mind that at the moment.

I would love to participate in future AGDQs/SGDQs and other speedrunning marathons as I grow more competent in the games that I run (besides Super Metroid, there are a ton of games I would like to learn, but I'm going to focus my current efforts on one of the Pikmin games and, for now, just one of the many Zelda games I want to learn), as I love the way the community comes together and raises money for charities.  It was amazing to see this past AGDQ raise so much money, so congrats everyone that participated!
Hey there.  I go by CnEY online, or FaultyBanana in places where CnEY is already mysteriously taken.

I've been watching speedruns on SDA for a couple of years now, and caught a decent portion of AGDQ 2013 (and have been slowly catching up on what I missed, many thanks to those responsible for recording/encoding/uploading).  Like quite a few others it would seem, seeing a bunch of awesome speedrunners do their thing live at AGDQ inspired me to take a whack at something of my own and sign up here - though I consider myself largely lacking in the patience and discipline generally required of speedrunners.

I've seen a couple of threads mention Ys: The Oath in Felghana, but unless I've missed something, I haven't seen any runs actually posted.  When I first played YsF a year or so back, it struck me as being particularly speedrun-inclined, so I decided to give it a shot, even if I'm far from perfect.  I intend to post something for it under the Casual Speedruns section; let's see if it coaxes any other YsF runners out of the woodwork as well.

I'm somewhat of an IRC addict but haven't checked into the SDA chatroom at all yet (I try to limit the amount of networks and rooms I'm in).  Might give it a try sometime soon though.
Pretty New
I'm kind of surprised I've never tried this forum over the past few months, but anywho.

My name, as far as it's concerned is Shaun (Get it? Ar-shaun? eh?)
I've always been quite a large fan of 1990-2000 era games. And speed-running those of my childhood only add on to making the feeling oh so much better.
Deciding to start using more glitches in my speed-runs (particularly of the Zelda games), I thought that this would be a nice place for a few helpful tips I may need.

As for my personal life, I've nothing more to myself than a small job and a fairly decent Junior year, as living in such a place as Texas will leave you to.
I'd have to give thanks to my papi, however, for making me a Nintendo fan at birth and staying still a strong one himself to this day.

As said before, I'm only here to hope for better.
Who is that guy?
Hi, I'm Chris. I've been watching live streams for about a year and casually running myself. I run Pokemon Gold/Crystal, New SMB, Pokemon Black, and hoping to start messing with Paper Mario. I'm close to submitting a no death any% of New SMB, I just need to figure out how to capture DS to video. I currently don't have a computer to stream, but hope to be able to do it sometime this year. I am also a big LoL player, you can add me at FDRhadcrazymoves if you want to play a game sometime. That's about it for me for now.
Hello all,

My real name is Mike. Been playing video games since I first got my hands on an original Game Boy, though in recent years I've been watching more than I've been playing. Watching the marathon VODs over the past year have prompted me to start getting back into the swing of things and picking up a controller again. Hopefully I'll be able to get some good capture equipment later this year and record some runs (maybe some of the lesser run N64 games).

I've also become really interested in the live production aspect of the marathons, particularly the audio. I was impressed with how the audio improved at AGDQ13 over the previous years' productions. If SGDQ is, indeed, going to occur in Denver this year then I would love to offer any audio help I could, be it equipment or manning the faders/knobs, or just helping out in any way I can.

It's a pleasure to be here.
Hey gaiz,
I'm kinda new to the whole speedrunning thing, but it encompasses enough awesome to keep me entertained. I've been working on some more recent games, as those are the ones that I like to watch people speedrun (no hate though, loved some of the old school speedruns, just have no way to record those). I also am picking up speedcubing and run a few gaming websites.

Anyways, I love what I've seen of this community and I'm glad to be here!

P.S. I'm pretty swamped with school and other stuff on a normal occasion, so you can expect me to have spurts of activity and inactivity.
For Fun! For GLORY!!
I'm Adam Wick, or Radman as my fursona. Yus, I'm a big Pokemon fan, but not big enough to do speed runs. I still laugh every time SMK finds out Venonat can't learn Teleport! XD
But still my favorite runs are any of them involving Castlevania and Metroid. I want to do one myself one day, if I can get good enough. :3
hello everyone Shocked new to speed runing working on myfav game of all time which is mario tennis 64
Hi everyone, I'm tminator64 and I'm speed running Viewtiful Joe.  I think I just recently surpassed the current SDA record for Kids mode by 1 second on the in-game timer haha.  Unfortunately, I do not have a solo video without my voice on it, so I can't submit (not that I know how to anyway).  I was an idiot and forgot to record on my capture device, but twitch caught it so that's something I suppose (it is in the link below).  In any case, I'm looking to see if there are any VJ players out there so we can break the game down even more.

The Rest Will Flow
Hello, I am Dalton from Northern New York. I am 18 and have been watching videos on SDA and from the AGDQ livestream caps for a few weeks and have known about the community for a very long time. I'm doing a lot of stuff in my life, mainly making music with my progressive metal band and going to college for my degree in English literature. I don't game as much as I used to and if I do it's usually retro games or games that I played as a child. I used to be a massive gamer and did nothing but that in my free time.

The only speedrun I have planned right now is Perfect Dark on XBLA. I would attempt N64 but I prefer the smooth FPS of the XBLA as well as having two analogs. I'm sure I will dabble in to other runs as soon as I have this one down pat. One game at a time.
i go by zodiakos and i just like watching speedruns and occasionally dabbling in them. for now i am trying to speedrun digital: a love story, analogue: a hate story, and a bunch of other games that i am too lazy to list. most of them are for fun though.
Hello everyone,
My name is Raphaël (I'm French) but you can call me Lepifout. I'm 17 and still in highschool. I've been watching speedruns from SDA from years but I never went on the forum to discuss with the community. I came here because I wanted to do a speedrun of The Cave on PC. That community seems to be very welcoming. I hope I'll have good times with all of you.

Thank you and see you.
Can't find the park exit
Hello, I'm Daniel. I've been speedrunning Sonic games for a while, mainly Sonic Riders, and recently have decided to try to speedrun Lost Kingdoms 2.
Hello, my name is Aaron, I'm 23 and will be starting college sometime soon for Software Engineering. I am new to the whole speedrunning thing but enjoy it A LOT. I currently just run The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and having tons of fun doing it. What got me into speedrunning was watching Cosmo, Cyghfer, and tons of marathons (I thank them for it as well). I plan on picking up more of the Zelda games in the future and hope to be a decent part of this community.
Old Iron Giant
Sup everyone, I'm a regular in a bunch of speedrunning streams but never though to just register and browse the main SDA site, so hello everyone, I'm interested in running but don't really have the resources to stream or any old consoles anymore, well not super old, I do have a PS2 and a Gamecube.

Anyway, hope to get know some of you, the trading forum seems like a good place to give away some stuff I've found.
