Also long time lurker, have been running Quake (Mostly Quake 1) and Half Life for years, but 2013 I'm serious about my speedrun! Currently working times on Half Life and Portal.
Hi SDA community,

I'm from France and I'm a long time watcher of all the very nice speedruns hosted here.
If I can find enough time between my wife and my 3 kids I will try to do some things for the speedrunning Smiley

Keep up the good work !

Hey SDA community,

I've been a long time fan of the SDA community and I've been watching speed runs for years. I'm a fighting game player but recently I've become very interested in running Sonic 3 & Knuckles, so I decided to make an account here! My twitch page is: http://www.twitch.tv/nadakaineko

I will be streaming Sonic 3 & Knuckles practice and attempts, but also fighting games and other stuff occasionally.

Looking forward to learning and growing with the community! Smiley
fast video games
greetings fellow runners! My name is psychoripper

Ive been interested in speedruns for a while now. I used to watch TAS vids back in the day but got real interested in real time runs within the last year. Im an enthusiast for the practice, love the concept of time attacking games. Its a fun thing to do.

Myself? I am still a begginer. I run sotn and mario 64 16 stars, and im looking to improve my times (not necessarily going for the record). I am also working on routes and learning other games, including megaman 2, castlevania rondo of blood, portal 2, and others.

Pleased to meet you all!

Might as well introduce myself (after around 2.5 years).

I'm fsvgm777 (or fsvgm or fsv if you prefer that). I'm 21 years old and I live in Luxembourg. I can speak (and understand) Luxembourgish (native language), French, German and English pretty well. I enjoy watching real-time speedruns as well as TAS runs. Currently, I'm not really doing any speedrunning, although I currently hold the best time in one scene in Shoot the Bullet (per this thread). I try to speedrun, but it often results in failure... but that's normal, I guess. After all, it takes a lot of practice to speedrun any game.

So far, I donated once during SGDQ 2012 and no less than three times during AGDQ 2013, because the charities you support are all awesome and deserve the recognition. I really had a good time watching the marathons. Keep them up!

So... yeah, that's it, I guess.

..Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I often tend to play Mario, Castlevania and Touhou.
PORTAL PRINCESS
Yo! I'm Aaron aka "Birdy". I've been around this website for years but I have never made an account... I've been speed running games for years but now I'm finally getting more into it. I love to speed run Resident Evil 4 and 5. I also enjoy running  Portal 1 and 2. I am also working on a Resident Evil 4 run that will break all records(Hopefully). But I am always trying to speed run new games.
Imma pop in and say welcome to all the AGDQ nubbins who are showing up!

My name is Carcinogen, I am awesome, and so can you!

The answer to everyone's first question is, choose a game you like to play repeatedly. SO! Keep at it, and enjoy it. Speedrunning is fun as shit, and I wish you all luck in your endeavours!

Positively Changing the Game
Hello! My name is Eric Cummings, a long time Gaming speed runner who's active in both the Gaming Community and Industry. I've long held SDA as the definitive place to go when I want to see the best fastest completions on Video Games. SDA has often helped me improve personal bests and the community here has shown me secrets and strategies that I've helped teach to others. In short, you have a fantastic community that I hope to be absorbed into. I record speed runs mostly for NES, SNES, Genesis, PS2 and Xbox 360 games but have gone outside those systems for love of the game =) Gaming is in my family and I've grown up with Pong, Atari and Intellivision advancing after the crash to NES and so on. I love to play games, teach others ways to play video games they're most comfortable with and help others among many things. I plan on recording better current times for NES Shadowgate, Deja Vu, Uninvited, Trojan, Jackal, Super C and possibly Contra. These are very lofty aspirations for me because of my recently damaged nerves in my back, neck and arm. I'm a perfectionist who was a high traffic hotel dishwasher, I wanted everything clean and shiny =( I only hope to do well and share my knowledge with some of the best speed running gamers around! Cheers Everyone!

I feel bad, because I haven't made my introduction here. D:

As you can see by my username, I'm Zaextar (Just about everywhere else, as well. Haven't managed to find someone with the same name as me. :3) and I'm casually speedrunning now. Been perusing the runs on SDA for over a year now, but I had never thought to actually join the forum and try my hand at speedrunning. You'll find me and my posts pertaining to Cave Story+ though, but I always love when someone speedruns my childhood as well. :3

Much love~

Heyo, long time speedrun watcher here!
I'm not particularly interested in doing my own runs, besides things just to mess about with, however I'm completely intrigued of seeing how you guys plan your stuff and am absolutely fascinated by seeing games broken, which you guys have quite a knack for with zips and the like.
So I'm basically here for interest and communication, as well as being a information vampire! Cheesy

Long time lurker and casual speedrunner. After AGDQ and the grow of speedrunning community I thought that I should start serious speedrunning too. Curretly routing both Knights of the Old Republic I, II. Every once in awhile I run Quake too, since I just love that game.

Hey, there!  Long time watcher, first time runner here.

I've been interested in speed runs for quite some time, but I've always just put off doing it myself or I just couldn't find a game that interested me too much.  But I've decided to bite the bullet and AT LEAST look into something that might be fun for me.

Bit about me: I'm a competitive fighting game player and I'm trying to get into the radio business, I take fitness very seriously and I think it's great seeing SpeedGunsLive helping others get in shape.

The games I'm probably going to be running for now are various doujin titles, (mostly just MegaMan-style junk), and Dark Souls; aside from running those, I'll be learning/casually working on Hi-Score attempts on Touhou games and other shmups when I get the chance.

Hope I can get into this quickly enough and if you'd like to watch, (read: help), me play these games then don't hesitate to visit my channel: http://www.twitch.tv/whathomusclewizard

Heh, amateurs...
Hello, I'm P1ston, Twitch Global Moderator and mediocre speedrunner. The only thing I currently run is Spider-Man (2000). Herp.
Hey SDA,

My name is Paul, and though my screenname suggests i'm 16, i'm 22 years old. I'm a longtime admirer of speedrunning, and have been watching videos from SDA for several years.

I'm pretty excited to finally start getting my streaming going, and one day soon, I hope to host a gaming marathon to support a music education charity with some friends of mine. I've recently started learning rayman origins and a co-op path of exile run, i'm excited for both of those to develop.

I'll start streaming regularly sometime soon, and i'll be sure to post when I do.

Hello everyone!  My name is Kevin, aka Æsys, aka metalgear696.  I'm 25 and live in Washington state.  For a living I rebuild automotive engines, a machinist by trade.  I've been lurking around SDA for a few years now.  I've finally decided to stop lurking and actually do something.

I've been playing games for almost my entire life.  My speedrunning habit started when Resident Evil 2 came out in '98.  Oddly, my mom was my inspiration.  She could beat Claire B in 1:30 with S rank which infuriated me.  My Leon A time was around 2:45.  I eventually broke the 2 hour mark but only barely.  I had to admit that my mom was better than me, damn it.  Give me a break, I was only 10 years old at the time. :p

From that moment I caught the speed bug, beating games over and over trying to get faster times.  I dont have any WR's, I just do it for personal satisfaction.  I would like to get a WR though, I dont care what game, or if the record stands for only 10 seconds before someone beats it lol.  To have one, if only for a bit, would be enough for me.

I'm mostly interested in anything Playstation 1-3.  The Metal Gear Solid series, Gran Turismo, Grand Theft Auto, Front Mission, and a whole bunch more.  For now my interest in games to speed run is Policenauts, Metal Gear Ac!d, possibly Gran Turismo 1, 100%, and maybe Front Mission 4 NG+.  Once I get my s*** together I'll start streaming.  Nothing too serious though, it'd just be a lot of practice, for now.

I have other hobbies as well.  I've been playing drums for 15 years.  I build model cars, race Karts and dirt bikes(games aren't the only thing I do fast).

Well, that's probably enough about me, this post is starting to get lengthy..  So yeah, cheers everyone!
Hi SDA people!

I've been watching speed runs for a while now and have been thinking about trying it out myself. I don't consider myself particularly skillful at games but I love the idea of breathing new life into an old and over played title. I'm not looking at putting anything up for a long time, but I thought it would be cool to join the forum to get some pointers on games I'd like to tackle.

I imagine I'll go for some Metroidvania title as that's my favourite (sub) genre. I'm defintiely planning on giving Resident Evil 4 a go because I'm actually halfway decent on that one.

Looking forward to checking out some more runs and stealing all your ideas Wink x
Hello everyone, my name is Tyler but I go by Cabbage; I am a long time fan of watching speedruns and I want to start running myself. I'm thinking about doing more modern games mostly on the PC. I am 20 years old, a writer, and a life-long gamer. Growing up I always found it fun to run through games as fast as possible so hopefully I can re-kindle that old skill.

A little bit about me: college drop-out, ex-MLG, and ex-UGC; my biggest hobby, besides playing video games, is music; my favorite genre is jazz, and my favorite band is The Seatbelts.

Rambling a bit so I guess I can just say I can't wait to get started, and I can't wait to work with all of you Smiley
Sup everybody. The name is frokenok3 but you can call me froken or fro whatever you feel suits you best!

I've been watching a lot of speedruns lately and after the AGDQ i just had to become a part of this community. Long time gamer playing all kinds of games but my speciality is Sonic games!

I am not like super awesome at speedrunning them but i have some decent times that i can be proud of i think...but mostly i speedrun for fun with some competetive times here and there.

Anyways glad to meet you all! You are the best! Cheesy

Hey SDA community!

It has been a long time since i look at speedruns and i think of coming to register me here right now... I'm a speedrunner, i like have the best time on the games which i play.
I'm French (so sorry for my bad English haha), 18 years old. I knew the SDA community for a long time but i had not thought to create an account here.

See ya! Tongue
Bash!
Hi there, I'm Madfox and i like speedrunning. I'm gaming since 1998 (when i was 3 years old Tongue ) so i really "love" retro games like Duke Nukem, Super Mario, Doom, Alien vs. Predator and more... I started gaming with an N64. The game which marked my childhood is Crash Team Racing on Playstation 1.

Anyway, if you have questions or if you want to know more about it on me, don't hesitate to ask me! Grin
@tiburonCS
What's up y'all

I got introduced to speedrunning via Halo as early as 2006, and I loved watching videos of Halo runs on sites like High Impact Halo. Recently, AGDQ made me want to get into it myself. Speedrunning is a big deal now! It's not like it used to be. Between SDA, SRL, and Twitch, this hobby is blowing up.

Currently, I run Halo 3: ODST, and I'm practicing Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. Hopefully down the line I'll do some more old school stuff.
Hi, I'm Jon Carling, better known as Mangledpixel. Have been following a number of SDA guys on twitch for a while now, as well as a number of the marathons. Thought it was high time I got around to having a profile on here, even thought I (currently at least) don't speedrun anything. Smiley
Hey everyone

My name is Kenny and I've been a fan of SDA since probably 2008 when i started watching the runs of Ocarina of Time. I even have Kazooie's run on my phone from when I downloaded it years ago.  I rediscovered the site after I found twitch and became involved in the SRL community.  I started running games (mostly just small easy to learn categories) in August and have expanded my library since then.  Currently, I run Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and Disney's Magical Quest 2 (The Great Circus Mystery).

I am competing with Remedy1502 for the record on THPS1, which he currently holds at 5:43 RTA which 59 seconds faster than the run on SDA (with RTA timing, game time will be used when a satisfactory run is submitted) and I hold the record for Circus Mystery (on emulator).  It was actually the first game I ever owned and I am ordering cables for my genesis so that I can submit a run to SDA.

Besides speedrunning, I play guitar , playing sports, etc. Typical boring things you can expect from people lol.  I was also in college majoring in psychology with the hopes of becoming a teacher because I enjoy having conversations with people and helping them. Unfortunately, I got sick and have to take a hiatus =/ But in that time, running has really been enjoyable for me.

=)
Hello,

My name's Alex, but most people just call me BT/Blood. I've been lurking on SDA for the past year or 2. I started off running Portal, and since getting really good times i've branched out to more games. I'm currently working on improving my times for Quantum Conundrum, BioShock, and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. I also plan on picking up the Penumbra series, as well as Alice: Madness returns and perhaps some others in due time. I've been putting alot of work into speedrunning these games and trying to get my name out there in the community so I can share the joy of speedrunning with those who may not know about it quite yet :3

Hi folks.

Name is Lachlan, most online know me as senamic. I've lurked SDA since about 2010, but have only gained the confidence in some of my abilities recently. At the moment I am working on trying to break the segmented record for Jedi Academy, and am considering working on a single segment and/or 100% run for it as well (100% would require defining it I guess, there are several definitions you could use). Apart from that, I captain a Dota 2 clan (SaF FIGHTING!) and enjoy mainly RTS/Grand Strategy games, a couple of shooters and RPGs, and table top and card games, most notably Magic: The Gathering. Unfortunately I lack a decent enough internet connection to stream (1.36mbs down and .22mbs up. woot.) but I aim to set up some capture equipment for future runs. Apart from that I am pretty open to ideas, although my main focus would be towards the PC and Playstation 2, as they are the platforms I have the easiest access to.
