With the new 4 player update to Guacamelee! STCE on Steam, select door glitch (SDG) has been partially patched. Thanks GamesEdplays for bringing this to my attention!

Here is my surface-level summary of the changes:

* Early in a new game, you get this (admittedly humorous) message when you activate the glitched main menu: http://i.imgur.com/11O12wf.png. This new dialog box captures all menu input focus, and there appears to be no way to interact with the underlying main menu. When you select "OK" the game returns to the title screen, with no SDG warp region stored.

* After a certain time or event (testing required, but after killing skeletons in the church seems to be safe), activating the glitched main menu no longer spawns the new "No Credits" dialog box. SDG works, but there are disruptive changes:
- The camera locks itself in place.
- Activated triggers (doors, loading events, talking to NPCs, respawn on death, warping ooze) are disabled.
- Pause button is disabled, which removes the possibility of SDG -> Pause + Quit (but its functional equivalent, playing a cutscene from Extras, still works).
- The game is now susceptible to crashing while the glitched main menu is open. What triggers the crash requires further investigation.

* Some warp positions have been moved. This is probably a side effect of level design tweaks and not an intended part of the anti-wrong warp changes. A notable position change (discovered by Bagel_Thief) is in Temple of Rain, where the "non-matching index" warp position is no longer in the final treasure room after Alebrije, but is now in the final climb near the giant skeleton before Alebrije.

Generally speaking, wrong warp runs are a bit slower now, and possibly more prone to game crashes. For Any%, all the wrong warps still work except the Forest Arenas 2 + 3 skip. 100% is affected even more, by the previously mentioned adjusted warp position in Temple of Rain, which now requires killing Alebrije. Unless new strats are discovered, pre-patch times for these categories might be unfortunately unattainable.
OK guys, weekly races seem to be back!

The only issue is people are not turning up, possibly due to lack of interest due to other speedgames or the races are being held at an inconvenient time or not knowing about the races all together!

I'd love to get as many people racing at the same time so here is the big question, what day is good for every one?

I'd like the time to remain the same at 4PM EST-9PM GMT as I'm from the UK and any later would be kinda bad, but I'm open to suggestions. At that time I'm free any night of the week but would prefer either Saturdays or Sundays. please post the times and days you are free to race and your preferences here so we can arrange a time to suit everyone.

I think it will be fair to go with the majority on this one, so sorry in advance for anyone who can't make it Sad
I don't know how active stce still is since the 4 player patch but i've just gotten back into the game recently and have been re-routing the game for a no sdg warp run and ive gotten time down to a 1:02 with about 5 minutes of improvement so far. i streamed my run but the quality is so crappy its pretty much unwatchable but it shows my route.

Ruling the cosmos!
I know this is probably lying around in this thread somewhere, but what are the differences between STCE and Gold editions, at least as far as speedrunning goes?
Ruling the cosmos!
Okay, apparently if I scrolled 4 posts up I would've seen that part of that was answered, idiot. So they are completely separate runs, or categories or some such, then? Well that stinks, I suppose

The game is on sale now (if anyone is interested) so I just picked up both Gold and STCE. I assume Gold is the best version to run, based on above and the fact there are current times on the leaderboards on speedrun.com?

Transferring from Wii U because the controls are meh.
Hi! I'm new in the forum and I don't know if this is the correct place where I need to comment what I found in Guacamelee.

Yesterday I was doing a casual speedrun of Guacamelee Gold Edition on Steam. I don't know any glitch, bugs, etc., so I did a normal route. When I got to the final fight with giant Calaca he killed me in two seconds, so I tried again the fight and I think that I found a glitch. I don't remember how that happened exactly, but when he used his flamethrower I throwed him a meteorite and at that moment my character appeared on his back. I don't know how, but he couldn't use his shield, so I could hit him without stopping and I killed him in few seconds.

I'm very sorry that I can't be able to post any video or photo to probe this. Also I don't know if it's a glitch or it's something that you knew it, but I'll try again next time I do a speedrun of the game.
So....the site referenced in this thread, Guacommunity.com, seems to be gone. Is this temporary? It sounds like there was tons of good info there.
