STCE XB1 Does NOT give Double Jump from #3, while PC version does, so GT is impossible at this time, also confirmed that Tiger is killable in STCE XB1 & GE without Dimension Swap, so the canal + xtabay is skippable
Is Great Temple skip really impossible on Xbox One? You can get Double Jump from Tule Tree before activating EI#3.

Here is another optimization for STCE Any% (only tested on PC):
Before activating EI#3, when you are atop Pico de Gallo at the Olmec Head, enter Skull Room to the left. Wait until the objective banner at the top of the screen appears, and then make your way to El Infierno. This objective gives you Goat Fly in addition to the other abilities from EI#3.

Also, it's possible to skip Canal de las Flores in Any% (no pre-made saves). It is a peculiar route; still refining the details which I'll share tonight. It involves using this devil dialog escape:

EDIT: Here are my updated Any% routing notes: http://pastebin.com/DgFUj1qq . They're kind of vague, so I'll post a video once I get a decent attempt recorded.

I'm still far from most of you, but I recorded my 1:06:27 PB in the "almost glitch-free save for small shortcuts normal any%" category that I'm alone to run Smiley

That's my first online speedrun. I'd accept any advice to improve it.

I think a perfect run could take 1 hour and 2 or 3 minutes.

Nice run, Stormi. Watching you play through Tule Tree makes me miss those awesome platforming sections Tongue
What glitches/exploits are off limits for you? People's classifications of glitches varies, and well-defined rules might encourage others to pick up your category.

I got a decent run of STCE Any% (no pre-made save files) recorded:

Without Dimension Swap, Jaguar is a bizarre fight. If he dimension shifts, he won't shift back, and so he wins ("intentionally" demonstrated in this run!). To keep him in one dimension, the safest approach might be to wait ~4 seconds after he puts his shield up, and then hit with a single attack.

Also, Calaca 1 can devastate a run if he's hesitant to attack in your dimension (I've seen him attack 8+ times in a row in the wrong dimension). If someone finds a way to manipulate his dimension-shifting behavior, it will really help this category.

Well, the answer to this question is not easy. I'd say glitches that allow to skip large parts are off limit for me, because I want a run that shows most of the game (including the whole War Temple). Previously I skipped War Temple using El Inferno's room #3, but it rendered the run more boring, because instead of doing the temple you basically just run in pollo form from santa luchita to el inferno, so I decided to not skip anything.

Now, I've let some glitches slip through because they don't change the route in a significant way:
- wall hop in some parts of War Temple, because I don't think it's actually a glitch (although I don't use it to skip Flame Face, because that would be too big a skip)
- the glitched cacti that can be killed after they got hit by a bomb while being in the other dimension (that applies only, to my knowledge, to the arena in Sierra Morena, although I'm quite sure that it would work on any cactus, but not sure how to exploit that)
- Jaguar dialog skip, it's fun to go through him and saves only a few seconds

Also I don't use swap-hopping because
- I don't manage to do it on my keyboard Tongue
- it's not fun to use it to skip platforming sections

Clearly, my criteria are probably too fuzzy or arbitrary to make a well-defined category, but who knows.

nice run stormi. welcome to the community

I can't say much about how i can improve your run since i run (pre-made save) warp run on STCE and that skips pretty much all of the game
the only thing i can say is using a 360 controller will save time overall if you don't already use one

I decided to pick this game up when I saw how hilariously broken STCE's any% [no premade saves] run was, so I spent yesterday learning the route and getting a few first attempts. My best so far is 37:07 RTA, 33:54 IGT (lol IGT is meaningless): http://www.twitch.tv/vulajin/c/5039416
Just set new wr with a 13:19. All thanks go to MLR Tachyon for finding the best glitch in pre-made save runs. Not gonna be able to replicate this glitch without hours of figuring out how this works
I'd really like to see videos of premade save runs, because frankly, hearing a time like 13:19 means absolutely nothing to me. I want to watch and enjoy the run. And more than that, I'd like to see such runs timed using RTA (i.e. a stopwatch counting everything from start to finish). It's fun and all to see these crazy broken in-game times, but they are obviously irrelevant when you can spend literally infinite time in another file and not have it count against your main file at all.

@Zecora i will not be giving out the premade save skip to have everything in the game instantly, because i dont want to ruin the game for others, because it would be beatable in under 4 minutes.
Sorry!

This would also fuck up the 100% leaderboards

@Tachyon im fine with that but i still want to give u credit for finding the glitch and everything else u have helped me with in the run and i agree that it would ruin the the game. but that is still an insane glitch.

@Vulajin the only premade save run that ive seen is tachyons 32 minute run which was made a while ago heres the link to that video
The premade save run has been updated alot since this run but i cant record my runs yet till i get a capture card.
i also did time the whole run with the premade save and got a 22:46 RTA
Here's a map for the SDG warp indices for STCE on PC. Only region connectors for now (complete save altar mapping is a much larger project). As with the Gold Edition map, La Mansion del Presidente is on the far left, and region connectivity should visualize the rest. Note that Pico de Gallo uses a few "connector arrows" to show region connectivity.

http://i.imgur.com/UfrM6x0.png

Other releases of STCE may have slightly different mappings (for example, a few non-matching warp locations are different on Xbox One).
Also included are X'tabay's Lair, Temple of War's Observatory, and the Sierra -> Pico drop (indices W, X, Y, Z). These warp indices do not correspond to other regions, but they do correspond to save altars in some regions.
Haven't been here in a bit, but still not too late to say amazing work on the SDG warp index map Protongue. Super useful in helping me route the 100% run.

I've just finished typing up the 100% route, I think it's pretty solid now (more to find assuredly, but off to a pretty cohesive start): http://pastebin.com/ytE93dkc
Hello,
I just finished a casual playthrough of this, and I might add it to my future runs list. However I own the Wii U version (STCE), yet I see no mention of it with regards to runs. I only see PC and Xbox One, and mentions that glitches don't work on PS3. If runs aren't possible on Wii U (and get a decent time) there's obviously no point in running on it! Is there any info on it or?
@Alowishus
Hello. I'm not sure if any of these mentioned glitches work on wii u but there are still alot of types of runs you can do. like glitchess any%, 100%, Good  ending, hard, and hard 100%.
anyways hope u pick up this run its very fun.
Thanks for the reply. I may just pick up the steam version at some point as Any% is more my thing in most games. Though I'll have a look at the other categories as well.

The door select glitch doesn't seem to work on Wii U. Though maybe I am doing it wrong... (select and up isn't exactly difficult though heh).
It's harder to do in STCE on console because the Map is now a negative edge input, so the timing is very tricky to do. I hold minus down and release it at the same time I press Up. You'll eventually get it and the door glitch works with no problems.
Edit history:
ZecoraMLP1: 2014-09-21 05:20:21 pm
its not necessarily harder on console its depends on preference since i only run stce on xbox one

BTW the select door glitch on console has a delay when u press select.
the way i do it i hit select wait 1/2 a second then press up
That's what I meant by it being negative edge: the input won't register until you release the button.

I got it working thanks guys.

I followed this video but the menu options are slightly different (i guess the video has the older version). It also didn't let me skip the church section. It just put me back in Pueblucho on the right side. I'll have to investigate more!
thats because that is gold edition the church skip doesnt work on stce
Well I look silly now. I'll just read up before I try anything else!
are you planning on running single save warp or pre-made save warp run
