Don't MAKE me come down these stairs
Had yet another successful attempt, cutting the time once again by 1:05.24 seconds, getting it to 34:04.027, and that's with two less deaths than last time... I end with 5 lives remaining and 1,790,000 points, which means I earned 9 extras and used them all. I haven't gone through to see where I shaved the time off, but some of those 9 deaths are quite embarrassing.

Since my first half-decent attempt, I've cut the time between my run and the pseudo-TAS from 9:00 to 7:12 or so. Still, with 7 minutes of improvement possible, I'd like to whittle it down some more. I'm thinking that sub-30 is quite unrealistic. If I have a run that goes well and is sub 33:00 I might submit it. I'd like to get the death count down a bit more as well. Maybe my standards are too high, but I know that this is a well respected game Tongue and I want to put some work into it.

Plus, it's a HAGGAR run. I want the first of such runs on the site to be exceedingly manly.
Don't MAKE me come down these stairs
I noticed that someone submitted a run for this, and I was wondering what system it was for, which character was used, and how long the time on it was. Anyone?
Looks like a Haggar run, but not for the SNES.  So keep on it to submit a run with the SNES version. thumbsup
I'll give the final fight one deathless a try. I have to go get a copy on ebay first however. The game is a classic and I can remember playing this for days on end. I paid like twenty bucks in late fees. I do believe that it is possible on the easiest setting but with a lot of luck. I just recently finished Final Fight 3 on easy without dying. I am still trying on normal mode but it can be very frustrating the last level. It required a lot of knowledge about the enemy locations and types, obviously. Not only that but I was able to skip two difficult boss fights by taking different routes around them. Final Fight One has tough ass bosses that barely fit the screen however. I'll keep you posted.
General Kong - Bullets and Bananas
Hey scottimu5, good to see some more action on the Final Fight One front.

Feel free to use my run for pointers.
Also, Guy and Haggar are on the way too.  thumbsup
Final Fight is a really good game. I'm still trying to beat the Arcade game deathless with Haggar. I managed to beat it deathless playing online with a friend as Cody and Haggar, though, iirc, i never beat the game deathless playing alone. Though i gave up Normal mode and only play in the hardest difficulty now. The enemy positions is essential to beat the game deathless, but you'll memorize after playing a couple of times. Good luck.
General Kong - Bullets and Bananas
I've been dabbling with very hard in between practice for the marathon.  Got one run with two deaths, getting closer.  Alpha Cody though.

I'm having a bad time trying to beat the game in Hardest difficulty with Haggar (Arcade). The problem is i'm trying to record a speedrun (emulator FBA) and the second stage is the worst one for me. Problem is the Knife-Throwing guys, they are really annoying when there are too many enemies. They keep a distance from Haggar and keep stabbing, so you can only hit them with Double Lariat. The most annoying thing is when there are two Knife-Throwing, one in your back and another in front of you. The double lariat will only hit the one in front of you if both are stabbing you, so the one in your back will keep stabbing you. Also, it is annoying when they drop the knives next to Haggar, so when i try to punch the enemies, i end up picking a knife, which is useless for him. The knife-throwing is the most annoying enemy in the game, imo, along with Poison and the Punks. The rest of the enemies are usually easy to handle. The bosses are easy as well.

By the way, i always wanted to know how to turn barrels into GOLD, but never found how exactly the trick works. Some say you have to quickly press back and forward when you punch, others say forward and back, and even said i'd have to do a Hadouken when punching. I managed to do it in all this ways and was curious to know the right way to do it. Well, i tryied it in emulator and found it. But to test you'll have to use frame advance.

Let's say you're going to hit the barrel/fone booth/etc, in frame 3. So we have frames:

0, 1, 2, 3

In the Arcade Version, if you hold in any direction or the jump button during frames 1, or 1 and 2, the barrels will drop gold/ruby. The frame 0 have to be free of input and frame three as well.

In the Snes version, if you hold the same buttons during frame 2, or 2 and 3, the same will happen. The frame 1 has to be free of input.

In the GBA version you have only one frame to get the trick to work and it is the exact frame that the hit will connect to the barrel, frame 3 in our example.

So, if i'd have to describe how to do the trick in realtime, i'd say: press punch and as soon as you see that the Character will touch the barrel, quickly tap in any direction or jump.

Anyway, this is not a speedrun trick but just something for playarounds. Maybe there's more people who wanted to know this, that's why i'm posting this here.
General Kong - Bullets and Bananas
*Bump*

So I've finally found my way back to Final Fight.  Also, progress have been good enough that a post is now worthy of being made.  I'm using the Xbox Live - Double Impact version since it's the best port available.  At the moment, I'm really just looking to refine Uptown.  I've gotten there on 1cc more than once and am confident a 1cc is coming soon.

Current credit PB uses only 2 continues.

Main areas to focus:  Damnd sometimes gets out of the infinite, it's not as easy as you'd think.  I need to be a smidge more careful in Westside.  Also more cautious in the latter half of Industrial Area.  I'm confident I should be able to at least get to Bay Area with 0 or 1 death.  But Uptown, yeah...

Anyway, feedback is appreciated.

So I did some messing around with max difficulty and ended up with a 26:47, admittedly heavy credit feeding. DK, you'll probably want to watch it since it shows a lot of the despawns and stuff that you aren't really doing right now, even if its far from a polished run.
General Kong - Bullets and Bananas
Thanks MURPH!  I definitely watched that and found 3 specific despawns that should be doable, can't believe I missed a couple of them.  Initial Subway car, Industrial Area right before the elevator and the Andores in Bay area after the fat boys.  The Industrial Area one is the worst, one mess up and literally 15 guys will surround me, cost of doing business.

I look forward to talking some strats.  This run really should be coming together soon.  If I could just stave off the frustration...
It's nice to see that you guys are running one of the best arcade beat'em ups ever. I watched a lot of YT ff playthroughs but the one I recently found is the best of them all (bad quality though). I checked FFtester's channel on YT to see his old ff arcade videos but I noticed that channel name changed and old ff videos are missing. But I found there an extremely skillfull new video of Cody 1 coin , no death , no shifting (unfortunately) , no autofire , hardest (? - enemies seem to be quick).  He clears a game with a time which is about 25:45 ! Such a good time without shifting, dying and playing around with bosses. I noticed he makes most of despawns reacting to enemy behaviour. I mean a game is so random that makes it impossible to plan ahead some of despawns.

Yes
I'm just going to leave this here:
The Dork Knight himself.
What a shitty mechanic.
Yes
Might as well leave this too:
Damn! Talk about angry! I know the SNES version increased the difficulty by having the damage received increased compared to the arcade, but is this a glitch or is it programmed in the game?

The molotov holly woods aren't even supposed to have an attack after throwing the molotov, but their AI is buggy and does the jumping knife stab sometimes even though they aren't holding a knife and end up falling through the floor afterwords.
