Ya, I think you did too. I KNOW I did lvl3 bio on the snake, and I'm pretty sure I had that item before leaving midgard. People should look into this. I'm pretty sure it's available near the end of midgard. It would save like 30 seconds on that sea monster no? Or maybe there's an even better use. Plus you might not have to worry about the bio matertia at all saving even more time.

A lot of people here are interested in this tool-assisted speedrun. It's also helping to contribute to the human speedrun. Please keep SDA updated on the TAS run, it's very nice of you and we appreciate it.

I have been trying for a couple of weeks a speedrun of Final Fantasy VII on the Playstation not PC. So I will be giving updates on it of where I am, what I am using, what team I got, and more within my speedrun.

Right now I am at where I just got done fighting Aps and since this is my first actual attempt at the speedrun I know I will be getting problems later in the game.

Also this is my first speedrun on any Final Fantasy game and if good enough first time on SDA. But I know if I want to do a good run on SDA it's gonna takes lot's of practice, patients, and some gaming fuel lol.

There's a word for that

You can try having a look at the run that's already on the site, if you're not confident about getting a good enough time for SDA. I don't know if PC and PS1 are separate categories or not.

Well I actually watched/downloaded that run like 5 times. That's why I want to do it is because of that video because I have always played Final Fantasy VII a lot but not in a speedrun.

I kinda figured it would be in a different category do to the PC version having better load and saves. Also the AI script could've had some changes too (but I don't know if they did or not?) and I did see someone who did Donkey Kong Country 2 on the GBA and SNES. So I would imagine so of it being in different categories.

Okay a little update with my Final Fantasy VII speedrun. I kept taking some much time in the Market area where I have to get Cloud to become a girl. So thank god I did save before actually going to go do all the stuff to get inside the place I am suppose to go. But I got a better and quicker solution to getting cloud to be a girl and I made him not get choosed because if I do the battles by just holding down O and using his limit break on the one guy with more health than the others it makes it got by fast! I might even do picture updates because it sounds fun lol. So I will update some more later. Right now I got done with Aps and about to go to Sector 7.

Well I actually watched/downloaded that run like 5 times. That's why I want to do it is because of that video because I have always played Final Fantasy VII a lot but not in a speedrun.

sweet, so you think you've got faster strats than what garland is doing? I strongly encourage trying new things and seeing if you can find different ways to make things faster or tweak the strats. If the current run isn't a good enough test run, you should always try running through the game with your new strats and fine tune and perfect it later. Kind of like how you do different drafts when witting a paper or something like that.

Take note of what the TAS is doing as well.

Instead of picture updates it'd be great if you could use fraps or something to make some videos of your new ideas and test runs.

Doing video would be better but I do have a camcorder but it doesn't record from my tv for some reason? But I will be getting some equipment so I can record from my tv and such at very High Quality. I was just going to do picture updates just to show where I am at and at what time. But ya I think me showing different was to do areas would be fun to do!

Whoa I haven't been on here for quite a while! But I have been working on the speedrun here and there do to school starting for me and I have been looking at some strategies at certain bosses ahead on Disc 2 even though I am not even close to Disc 2 though. So once I work more on it I will keep everyone updated on it.

My feelings on The Demon Rush

It wouldn't? I thought the PC version had faster load times and a couple of other things that made it difficult to compare to the Playstation version.

All it's got is better graphics, worse sound quality (MIDI music and many silent cut scenes), and a slightly edited script. And yeah, the load times are a bit faster, but that's about the end of the differences, I think...

It also suffers from not having a capped framerate (the motorcycle chase was way hard on my computer because it went in 3x speed).
Not sure if the timer corrects for that or if it runs in the same pace during those moments. Things like that might make it harder to be able to compare it with a psx run.

I heard wrong then, haha. I thought 'using comparable times because the run is too long' or something was the verdict while GarlandG's run-in-progress was still being discussed.

Can't recall the exact estimation but Farringa's 7:41 PC time would equate to something in the vicinity of 8:20-25 PSX(US) time.

Given current phase Garland's time might land at 7:52-ish PSX(US) time which in other words would be better than a 7:41 PC time and thus, even though they are different version, obsolete it (seeing how the only known real effective differences between the two are loading/saving times).

Yes, 7:52 is obviously still a longer time than 7:41 but the gameplay execution would be much better in a 7:52 PSX(US) run than in a 7:41 PC run.

Likewise, if you did a PSX(US) run and landed it at well above 8:25 it would simply just not beat Farriga's 7:41 PC time.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about the mini-game bugs with the Chocobo races and the Motorcycle chase. I just had them patched with mods for so long now. Tongue

But I don't think anyone would want to utilize those kinds of bugs unless they were doing a TAS run.

Yeah the PC version has basically better load times, some of the bugs fixed from the PSX version, has new bugs, and much more. I am still working on my speedrun on the PSX but I am too busy with school but since it is christmas break I might go ahead and work on some of it before break is over. Also I am thinking of when I am working on the Speedrun that I will stream it so people can watch me playing it and making sure I am not cheating as well. But still thinking about it though but what do you guys think of me streaming it for you?

Okay and I am curious to see who all would like to attend this speedrun stream I am not doing it in like a couple of days or something like that I am gong to try and plain a whole weekend to try to get the speedrun either done or get pretty far in the game but just wondering who all would like to attend it.

All I did was go from Aeris's House to the Midgar Main Building now is it quicker to take the stairs or go on the elevator? The current time on it is 1:48:36.
