I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Ughh, I've just been trying to reconnect my internet for 20 minutes before actually getting back on and it's not the first time this week (happening twice a day atm  >:()... I hate being a quitter and especially before I've even begun but this way i'll be more of a nuissance than a help I'm afraid... getting a smooth segment and then being disconnected at the end would make me smash my head against the wall. Please find a replacement for me. My apologies.  Sad

Let us get started by meeting on the upcoming Saturday on 8 pm (GMT+1), 7 pm (GMT), 2 pm (GMT-5), 1 pm (GMT-6). I have bad news for MrEnzyme and ZaibirQuild though. I'm sorry for you guys, but your schedule is not compatible with the other players here...
All others: If you read this, and are able to come this weekend please verify that you come on Saturday in this thread, so that I get to know, if you are still interested and have the time this weekend. The first meeting will take place in the battle.net, europe-server, channel: speedrun

gia, preddy?

Edit: We are at the public test realm for 1.13 now - channel "speedrun". We are going to rush chars to hell, as leveling and testing skills is very easy here. Whisper *FraGFroG if we are not in the channel.
PTR for 1.13!? Finally!

4 Eth → Countess or Hellforge norm
3 Tir → Countess or Hellforge norm
10 Ral → Act 5 Quest 2 norm + nm
5 Ort → Act 5 Quest 2 norm
8 Tal → Act 5 Quest 2 norm

6 Rals, 11 Orts and 8 Tals from Act 5 Quest 2 norm/nm are not used in runewords and can be socketed in 2/3 socket armors/helmets as said above.

Items needed:
2*any 2-socket staffs → find until act 5 norm or buy in act 1 or 2 norm.

x*2/3-socket armors/helmets → find somewhere until act 5 norm or buy in act 1 or 2 norm → sockets: remaining Larzuk sockets from norm/nm.

What does this mean for the run? Well you have to constantly watch out for/pick up the following items on your way:
- All normal or socketed low-req. Armors/Helmets, especially Breast Plates and Masks (both very low-req. 3-socket items!)
- All sorc-staffs and orbs!!!
- All amulets/rings for fastcast and resistances!
- Runes
- normal and flawless gems
- Demonhide Sashs and Sharkskin Belts for the 4 rows
- Druid Helmets for the druid or for money
- Assassin Claws for the assassin or for money
- Paladin Sceptres for the paladin or for money
- necro-staffs for money
- big armors for money
- normal, magic and rare circlets for imbuing/finding of +2/3 skill-circlet.
- all magic or rare low-req. boots for frw and/or resistances
- all magic or rare low-req. gloves for some resistances
- at least normal gloves/belt/boots is a must-have for each character, because you need them to be able to imbue some useful items on all 3 difficulties.

Some more updates:

Pala skills in hell (level 61)
respec in act 1 nightmare (conv...)
foh instead of prayer?

Assa level 61
respec in act 4 nightmare (?) for the CS

Druid level 12 <-- maybe poison creeper 11 at level 11 (watch the druid run to look at the damage) and respec for fissure
level 20
level 30
level 45
level 61
(no respec needed here)

Blizzard sorcs can use a higher level of static field in norm (level 25 and level 30 and respec with level 25 (one) and 30 (the second) to blizzard, so we have two high-level static sorcs and one blizzard-sorc for our baalruns.
One thing I noticed while playing the lightning sorc is that its damage was VERY significantly reduced. The link you posted for the skill plan at level 61 had the damage of lightning as 4-5622, and with the exact same skills and bonuses in patch 1.13 (+3 light skills) the damage of lightning is at 3-3574. That's a HUGE reduction, over 2000 maximum damage less. Chain lightning is also down, from 4-2847 to 3-2300.

So with this in mind, do we still want a lightning sorceress? Or is it important just to cover all three elements?
Edit history:
FraGFroG: 2009-12-13 10:13:29 am
@MrEnzyme: Check the calculator again, the difference is not as high as you stated:
Here is the damage with 1.12 (+3 all, +3 Cl-staff). It's 4-3010 for Cl and 4-4110 for Lightning.

And here is the damage with 1.13 (+3 all, +3 Cl-staff). It's 3-2617 for Cl and 3-3574 for Lightning.

Now something very important for the meeting today!
We still need an 8th player at 2 pm (GMT-5), 8 pm (GMT+1) today, because one of us couldn't make it!

20-100 do you really think your connection problems are THAT serious? (2 discs/day doesn't sound too bad for me, at least not so bad, that you have to leave this run). Also maybe it will become better soon and the run will not start until 1.13 final is released anyway. Till then we just test our combo in many ways and we start training our chars/getting used to them and to each other/test some segments/etc. So the disconnects won't annoy anyone anyway while we just test some stuff. So please reconsider leaving 20-100...

Also Beenman500, do you maybe wanna help us out testing today? (you mentioned helping out if necessary, if I remember correctly)
Same question goes out for everybody else, who wants to play the beta with us today.

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I'm a blizzsorc, am I the first or the second, so they will be light sorcs at the beginning? why not fire. During the first test I maxed ice blast instead of glacial spike, I'll try the other now but my guess is that ice blast will be better at least when steamrolling, glacial spike could be more useful in two player parties.

I also went for fcr (75) and +mana (gloves, rings, etc) giving less importance to +skills (couldn't gamble many), very different from the items you list. Mana was consumed very quickly blizzard costs 47 and I could make five casts of it without +mana, with items and mixing it with ice blast it barely lasted three rounds.

items used:
20fcr circlet
+2 cold skills ammy
20fcr orb
ancients pledge shield
25fcr stealth
24fhr +mana belt
10fcr ring
+105 mana ring
+30 mana gloves
light res boots

I could tele around unless hit by a monster, then I was dead.
Joke of all trades
wah sorry, just read this thread now, and i can probably help today from(at) 7pm (GMT), though i am currently having connection problems getting on to battle net.

ill let you know soon if i can connect
Joke of all trades
yay, i can connect, stupid firewall, were meeting on what channel, sda or speedrun, ill have a look
ofcourse: We trained Ancient Tunnel/Travincal/CS/Ancients/Baalruns in hell today. Where were you? Have you totally forgot our appointment today? Luckily 2 players helped out, but they can't always be there, so please don't forget it next time, or at least tell us here before the meeting, if you can't come! The next date will be announced here by tomorrow or tuesday... (need to ask 2 more players)
Next date will be saturday 1 pm (GMT-6), 2 pm (GMT-5), 7 pm (GMT), 8 pm (GMT+1). I hope we are 8 players again then...
Yes, a worthless avatar riding my posts.
You guys should test some late-game aspects of the run while the PTR is still up. Level up to 60 and see if you can beat the ancients.

oh wait, you'd need gear...=\
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
eh we already did that... ancients were an easy roll though, but that's exactly how it would go on a speedrun so no issues there, some had better gear some had worse than expected, myself I had like twelve unused skill points too
Yeah our duriel fight was hilariously easy.

Diablo and Baal go down about that quick too.
sda loyalist
Yeah, shame Achmel killed the Paladin Roll Eyes
po0oq
Whaha Duriel got slaughtered Cheesy awesome work already guys Smiley Keep it up!

how do you guys manage things during a run? is one person appointed as a coach? Maybe it would be worth it to have 1 person that only manages others (and does not actually play)? (he'd tell everybody what to do and modifies/finishes the overall plan when needed)
Diablo Hell -

Baal Minions Hell  -

I died after staticing Baal so I missed recording almost that entire fight.  It was just a few seconds.
sda loyalist
Huh, oh yeah, the Paladin death was the second practice.

And yeah, I picked up Ginther's Rift. :p
Finally had the time to read the thread... perhaps I'll ask you something at ICQ tomorrow...

The DK!
I found a little tip that will save some time for the sorcs when they do their hellforge quest.

Using tk puts the stone on the forge if it's in the inventory which most probably know, but if the hellforge hammer is equipped, three casts of tk will break the stone on the forge. This should save a little time because casts are faster than swinging, but also because the forge will start dropping while you teleport there.

Also, tk can be used to go into duriel's chamber, I know clicking on that thing can be pretty lame in the first couple seconds.
Edit history:
FraGFroG: 2009-12-17 07:42:42 am
@ShinerCCC: Read --> post Wink Two posts before your comment I told you what we did on that day...

About the bossfights: Well the ONLY reason why all those bosses die SO fast is because of Conviction. What this aura actually does is quadruplicating the number of casters that fight against that boss! Why that?
Easy answer: Diablo/Baal have 50 % resistances against all elements, so your actual damage is 0,5*screendmg. With conviction their resistances are lowered by 150% to -100% which means you damage is 2*screendmg! And against Duriel it's even more extreme because he has 75% resiall which reduces your screendmg by 3/4 normally, and conviction increases your actual damage even more because of that... (that's why he dies within ~8 seconds even with such a low characterlevel) So I was not exaggerating in my earlier post about conviction!

@sapphirerawk: Thanks for those hints, saves a few more seconds here and there (because of multiple hellforge-runs)!

Here is another hint from mfb: While fighting against Duriel norm/nm/hell one sorc should always teleport to Tyrael before Duriel is dead, so he can talk to him immediatly after Duriel died and the party can therefore go to town immediately. Also in town there should be a harem 1 tp prepared before the Duriel fight starts, so we almost completely save the time for the ways back and forth through the town to talk to Jerhyn/Meschif.

Edit: I did some gambling for resistance-items in the last few days for all characters.

Concerning the items: You really have to focus your items almost exclusively on resitances (besides fc and +skill of course)! This is THE most important affix/suffix we all need as much as possible of, because it's so desperately needed to survive in hell (as you saw last weekend)!

Concerning hotkeys: You definitely need to put a hotkey on your TP-foliant, because that saves many many seconds during the run!

Also, here are a few more tricks you need to learn for the run! (if you don't use them already):
- You must use Shift + left-click to refill your belt between the fights. Also you have to learn how to do it while running in any direction, so you never stand still and waste time on it! (not so easy, needs practice!)
- You MUST use the fast-potion-buy-tricks with unequipping/equipping the belt and Shift + right-click to refill your whole inventory with a few clicks within a few seconds!
- To sell stuff as fast as possible, you have to use Ctrl + left-click, that will sell every items immediately with just 1 click!
All those tricks combined will save several minutes during the whole run!
im pretty sure you can't telport through duriels chambers before killing duriel, but then maybe you can.  mfb has a more encyclopedic knowledge of d2 than me  but i do know duriels chamber is awkward for teleporting as they don't aloow it in some parts to stop you from teleporting to tyriel.

nice idea for harem thing, maybe having charcters stationed at nessesary points will be good. some people don't save much to the fight(maybe druid) so not much time lost for a
The tp in the harem can be opened earlier, as we always need some seconds to teleport/run to our leveling area.

Teleport to Tyrael
I had to try around myself, as i didn't use this for a long time. It's easy if you know what you have to do.

Some more useful things to save time:

- In act 1 and 2 norm, leftclick-spam is a fast way to buy many potions.
- use telekinesis for waypoints and town portals where it is possible, pick up potions, gold, ... with telekinesis if it saves time.
- long teleports can be done faster with an open inventory/questlog/... (explanation).
- starting in act 3 means that you have to run in town, going to act 1 at the end of the previous segment can save time (depending on segmentation).
- if we start in act 2, travelling to act 1 with warriv (and back to a waypoint) is faster than running in Lut Gholein. You can open a tp at any waypoint to come to the tp area.
- use a hotkey to open the "skill-selection" for the right mouse button - and hotkeys for every skill you use, of course.
- status points can be assigned with shift+leftclick.
