Another game that I'll put up but would be better if Multi.

Gauntlet Legends
- PSX/N64/Dreamcast
- Unsure for Estimate yet.
- 4 People can play at same time and people can donate for which class people use.  Its more of a have 4 people try and run through game as fast as possible instead of a pure speedrun concept. Kinda like Castle Crashers at AGDQ.  This only if 3 others willing to play as well.

Might be better off bonus stream.

I can look into finding it for N64, give it a try

I mean, we would naturally opt for the cart-based version right?
SDA Speedruns: 1
I think so. I think I have the Dreamcast version somewhere. Probably lost in the several moves since owning the game

I am hella pro at Gauntlet Legends (N64 is by far the best version surprisingly), and would LOVE to multi a run.

Although, to be honestly, it may get a little boring for the viewer (like really boring) cause the hack and slash can get a bit old, and it''s very long for what it is even if you know what you're doing (maybe like 3-4 hours). Also, it'd be very hard to actually practice the game, since it doesn't emulate well at all, and solo play is a lot different than multi play (and in my opinion better).

But yeah, this is perfect graveyard bonus filler.

so here i go hoping this is how ou like it.the game/games i like to offer is skylanders spyro's advnture. this game i have a tie of 4:30:00 with any% run with 3 maxed level chars. i would like to do this game since it can have many donations to go with it. I can lower the time with some work. this would have no glitches to it. the down part is there no way to skip the cut scenes unless level been beaten. other than this and if wanting a race and one other would agree to it is mystic quest. since im not as great as ffgamer and with maybe some couching i would do this if people want another final fantasy game in plus one that is short.

Okay Poxnor, here's the other game I've been working on. Frankly it's a way better marathon game than Legend of Dragoon.

Chrono Cross any% best ending (because regular any% is no fun for a marathon)
PSX (played on PS2 slim)
8 hours? I'm still working on a marathon safe SS route that accounts for what happens when things can and will go wrong.

Chrono Cross features a lot of characters. A lot of characters, I'm talking 45 characters a lot, and any character that joins the party can be renamed, even when they've already told you their name. In the speedrun we'd recruit around 20 of them in the course of beating the game with about 10 of them getting actual significant screentime. The speedrun actually skips quite a lot of content and as a result winds up being mostly bossfights and dungeon crawling. There aren't a ton of long sections with nothing to do, as most of the time you can skip the exposition bits. It's a Yasonuri Mitsuda game in terms of music so the music is gorgeous as well. Can do a few donation incentives to recruit a few of the faster to get side characters that people might like. Fighting the Black Dragon would add a thirty minute cutscene so I'm going to take a pass on that.

The main downside is that the combat system is pretty confusing at first, but I'm hoping to be able to cover that with commentary.

I would be so down for watching a Chrono Cross run over Legend of Dragoon; Trigger has seen so much love at marathons and in the general public, yet Cross is the bastard stepchild no one talks about (not t mention Radical Dreamers).

Also, I prefer it over trigger and it's something fresh.

Put me down for commentary on Cross as well. Looking forward to seeing that game beat.
Cross would indeed bring hype, I vouch...

Quote from Poxnor:
duckfist: I added you as an attendee with a note about "weekend only."  I also added FF3 to the list.  I haven't heard back from megakidicarus Sad  But, it sounded like the odds of him making it were roughly up there with the odds of me beating Usain Bolt in a traditional "speed run."  Have to warn you, though: in Canada, it snows on the weekends.  Quick question about FF3: when you say "an exact path" has to be followed, are we talking an "exact path" as in my FFL and FFL2 runs (where every single step and every action in battle has to be exact)?  Because 2:45:00 is a *long* time to pull that off for, especially at a live event...

Yes, I mean an *exact* path.  From power on, every overworld encounter occurs in a predictable sequence.  I have to stop one tile before every encounter and advance the RNG to skip it.  While I hope to have it eventually memorized, I have extensive notes that lay out every encounter with screenshots that I'll likely be referring to on a laptop during the run.  There's a chance I could lose track of where I'm at in the encounter RNG by accidentally advancing it too much - things that can do this are using more than planned healing items, and pressing the d-pad against certain tiles (it'll advance the RNG on each frame you attempt to walk on most water tiles for some reason).  However, the are several locations thoughout the run where I have to power on/off on a specific tile to manipulate the type of encounter coming up, so the RNG is reset and I'll be able to get back on track.  Additionally, I'll have alternate backup-strat-paths listed in my notes in between planned hard-reset locations where I'll hard-reset and start being able to predict encounters again.  It shouldn't be too difficult, but I'll post an update after I've done some full runs in the next few weeks.  I'm confident I can replicate this live on my own hardware.  I'm still making discoveries with the new max-inventory glitch and am tweaking the route - it'll likely get under the 2-hour mark.

Thanks for considering me, though.  I can't wait!  Also Caracarn hype Shocked

I'm not going to be able to make it thanks for representing this game for me. as my people over at Christian Bronies do *HUGZ*
The ruler of Chaos and speedruns
I'm a little a new to the speedrunning game, but I'm a huge zoning fan and his FF13 runs are hypecity. It would be cool if we could get FF13 on the list and one of the donation incentives being blindfolded Orphan. And yes it can be done zoning has done it. So yeah I'm going to offer FF13 and suggest the runner be Zoning with the donation incentives of Blindfolded Orphan.
SDA Speedruns: 1
I think Zoning would have to offer ff13 if he wanted to do it. Im not sure people can offer games for other people. His ff13 runs are amazing though.
Moo! Flap! Hug!
I'll respond to all the posts since my last update sometime over the next few days (I'm exhausted right now).  But, just a few quick replies.

FFgamer86: There wasn't a whole tonne of bonus stream at C4L 2013, and I predict similar for 2014.  I don't want to start planning bonus stream before we even know what's happening with the main stream, and even then I think it'll be more of a "pick-up" setup (who's awake and has a game to stream), as opposed to a planned-out rejection graveyard.

Raelcun: When I do get a chance to update the first post, do you want me to replace LoD with CC, or would you like both LoD and CC on the list to go to the reviewers?  (I can pretty much guarantee that you won't get both of them, but I'm happy to send one, the other, or both to the reviewers.)

MasterHavik: What FFgamer86 said.  Please don't offer games for other people (except in cases where I know the gamers were already talking about it, e.g., Rayas and MisterMV on SoM).

I don't think you need to bother with LoD, it's a long run with no incentives that has a high chance of messing up the schedule. I just /had/ to offer it. I'd rather play Chrono Cross of the two and yeah playing both would be ridiculous.

My wife will be disappointed in you. I, on the other hand, will not. Cross has a really beautiful soundtrack.

Game: Chrono Trigger
System: SNES (or Wii VC)
Time estimate: 3:40:00 (any%)
Description: A very famous SNES RPG with beautiful musics. The new route removed the annoying 30-minutes grinding part of the run, so almost no grinding is required anymore (about 3 minutes).
A variety of glitches are done, and a lot of RNG manipulation is possible in this game, allowing unusual boss fights. The game is finished with a severely underleveled party.
Obdajr and Essentia are also running this game, so we may do a race if they are up to.
Incentives: Character naming. I also can do some one-handed Rubik's cube speedsolving during cutscenes Smiley
SDA Speedruns: 1
After games have been decided, I think we should look into if we can/should do races or not. They require different setups and are a bit harder to do onsite.
like i said before im up for what people want to do and i think if it dos happen to have 1 or 2 races i do hope its ones people would like to watch
My feelings on The Demon Rush
I'm not poxnor, but I think RPG races are a bad idea for two reasons.

1. They're really long, which means the chance for a blowout (or what looks like a blowout) is bigger.

2. RNG can play a bigger factor than skill.

This.  Also, I think that trying to have races would hurt the commentary since the commentators would have to split their focus between 2 or more runs.
SDA Speedruns: 1
Pretty much what I was thinking.  Races are more interesting when it is really close and not when there is a blow out.

Also, RPGs tend to have periods of downtime, where the runner really can't influence the action much, if at all (cutscenes, unlosable/unwinnable battles, dialogue, etc.).  Runners can compensate for these by talking during them and making good commentary, but having those occur in a race kills the hype since they have no impact on the race.
SDA Speedruns: 1
Like the only game that doesnt have any downtime is Mystic Quest since its pretty much all action for the 2 1/2 - 3 hours that is there. Unfortunately though, we just did this game last year and the only thing that could be done different is Any% instead of 100% and also when you do races, you want 2 people that have times close in comparison to make it interesting race, where I dont think anyone besides me has sub 2:45 Any% yet.

Yeah, Mystic Quest would be ideal for a race if there were two similarly skilled runners - lots of action and Boss RNG probably would result in some leads changing hands.  but there'd need to be someone close to you.

A friendly little WoB race would be entertaining in the bonus stream, considering 3 runners will be there. But otherwise, I agree. There's a certain flow to an RPG speedrun, and dividing the viewer's attention could harm that flow.
