Hey guys. I just set up a twitch channel so that i can start streaming. All i'm waiting for at the moment is a capture device for my wii. Once i get it all set up i'll let yall know.

So I've been practicing with chibi-robo a lot since the last time I posted and I had a thought. Would we be able to make 2 categories? One would be Any%(no giga) and the other would be Any%(activate giga). Any%(no giga) would end as soon as you pick up giga robo's leg after the queen spydor fight. The only doubt I have about something like that happening is there is no credit roll after the Queen fight. But there is after you activate giga robo.

This is just a thought, so please give your opinion Smiley
Ok guys I got all my equipment and I'm going to start streaming from twitch!
My name on twitch is R3dr1ng. I've got the better part of a route finished, so hopefully I can record a full run soon.
Ok so I believe there's a copy paste error in there somewhere, but I finally got my text file with the route back after months of tech support because my computer crashed. I will try to do runs but first I will need a capture card so if you want to do a first full run for the glory of World Record I'll come for it later, lol.
Anyways, for now I've pastebinned the rough route here: http://pastebin.com/iWQj4bGP

I did some runs a few months back, pb is 3:16:23, my route uses peeko and won the first 2 times because I'm a lame-o. I lost 20+ mins to the run because I was waiting for dog bone to spawn after I did everything, bone was just being a rude dude. Here are my notes: http://pastebin.com/1m5Y706W even if you don't use this route because it's wonky as heck, I have some misc info on the bottom half that may come in handy. I think I'm gonna get the jap copy and see how much faster it really is because of text. Anyone have the wii release? I couldn't find any footage of it but read somewhere a difference is the items have motion controls. This would save time if you didn't have to use the menus to activate the items I guess.
Neat money route -peekoh btw mutt
Well if you'd read like the first half of the thread we were spending most of our time being around peekoh because of how unrealistic rng manipulation is for him and how long he talks actually in my testing is slower than running around with trash and chibi doors. Consider this though: You go down to peekoh about halfway through the run with say 3000 moolah. You'd have to win quite a few times and listen to his long text a bunch of times. Even if you bet everything you had it would still take a while. By combining the storyline with various small jobs as you head to the next cutscene is, by my tasing and testing and such is about 4 minutes faster, and even better route, especially if you lose to peekoh even once.

I did read the entire thread and multiple times, I've been lurking it since around june, just never posted because I didn't have anything to contribute when it wasn't dead times and didn't have an account back then. that's why I said I was a lame-o for using peekoh too. In my route you have to use peekoh only twice so he's not that harsh, too. I'm having a tough time seeing how your route is faster since you use an extra day and night for money with 15 timer, like peekoh doesn't take THAT long. idk I don't doubt your route or anything and obv prefer a route without peekoh but I just don't see how it's faster. I'll try it myself eventually and results from other runs with it will happen.
Oh yeah where do you guys think the final split should be done? I split at the flash of light when you enter the leg code but some may want to do it as credits start rolling.
Either way, if it comes to it I feel like there should be a Peekoh-less category if he does end up being faster for any%. Because if people really do start to pick up this game it's going to go south fast when you start losing good runs to that walking pot-head, lol.

As for the final split, I think it should be when the "The End" comes up on the credits, mostly for the same reasons as Paper Mario: TTYD, there's a lot of input in the final cutscene, and the The End just kinda seems like a good point to say that's the end of the game Tongue
Not sure on the peekohless category but w/e. There isn't a "The End" on the credits though, it's just enter code > text text text text > credits > copyrights > chibi-house

Just got a pretty solid pb of 2:51:37.
I got peekoh with no fails but saved twice for reset safety so that wasted like 30-40 seconds. I needed to get get spoon because dog bone was in backyard. I went into an extra chibi door. My menuing could have been probably 15+ seconds faster in between x menu, shop, and selecting numbers with peekoh, suitcase, and leg. I messed up one cycle on the color code thing in the space ship. I went back to the cage in the basement and missed the cut scene skip the second time around so the cut scene was of the rope falling, no plankbeard talking though since I grabbed the battery charger already. I ran into 2 unnecessary text scenes around 45 seconds together. I got stuck in queen spydor web attack once and let her walk away twice in her second phase.
I think that covers all other mess ups I had, so by my timing and route (starting the split when the screen goes dark before the loading screen of living room day 1 and ending split at the flash after entering the leg code) 2:45:xx is probably the most optimized time. I use timer 5 on every day and night now except for night 1 because for some reason I can't get spydorz to spawn on day 3 if I use timer 5 and do the same thing. My jap copy should be coming in a 2-3 weeks so I may start streaming or local recording those just because they'll most likely be a lot quicker.
Just reread your money route because last time I only skimmed. idk how fast it is but you should consider what I do to get trauma suit, I get 1110 to buy blaster then suicide to get trauma suit when at zero money so I don't get the text of telly being like "what happened to your money don't look at me" or whatever. With trauma suit you can skip the drake redcrest cutscene in aliens 2 when they are following you around and it may help you when you run back at the end to finish charging the battery. Also when you are in the alien ship you only need to charge shot the time machine, the others require normal shots. You can actually shoot 2 alien beds since you can have 2 bullets out at the same time, the cutscenes to them walking to the beds don't overlap or anything but they happen instantly after one another. Also on day 4 you shouldn't use the mug to fall down from the peephole. You extend the day by a second or two because you go into the x menu, which pauses the day timer, to switch to mug but you wait at the end of the day anyways. Just keep the copter on from when you hover on the other side of the door. I know it's like "oh that's only two seconds or so" but unless using the copter will take out your battery life it's like c'man it's a speedrun. Oh yeahand you don't need to talk to dad and watch tv for spydorz to spawn, jenny on the stairs triggers that.

Depends on if it's the difference between that and another recharge. Mug falls cost no battery at all compared to that chibi copter which costs a few. And I'm not sure if when you're recharging, the day clock goes down.
A few points based on that:
1) I'm glad there's actually someone willing to put up with Peekoh long enough to do a run, but I believe it's a good idea to have a PeekohLess Category, and it makes sense based on other games' extra categories since he's a big part of the game/route so taking him out constitutes a new category, ie. SMS hoverless, BK Trotless (which is a much less known category), etc.
2) As for manipulating the spydorz, Even If I talked to Jenny on the stairs they would still never spawn the next morning always the next night, at least for me and I'm not sure how to change that. And you do actually have to watch the spydorz cutscene I believe. I can't get them to spawn without it.
3) Not sure if putting in the time to get the trauma suit is worth the time you can save skipping that cutscene, but it very well could be. I don't remember off the top of my head how long that cutscene is. I'll look into that a bit later.
4) Until RNG manipulation does happen to become a thing, I think saving for reset safety is probably the best way since you have no idea if you're going to win or not and not saving can very easily screw a run over.
5) Wasting the time to pull out the mug to do a Mug Drop from the peephole is still easily faster than it is to get out the chibi-copter and hover down. Granted you can move forward while you're hovering, but even zip sliding has more forward velocity than the forward hover and it takes much less battery so you can do more at the next destination because you actually do have to go lots of places starting at the peephole.
6) Lastly if you really have completed a run, you should get it on youtube and possibly get the community growing. Especially with that time which is about an hour under my initial estimate when I thought we would have to use Peekoh

AFAIK stuff like Hoverless and stuff aren't really considered major categories so much as gimmicky challenges.

Trauma Suit not only has the cutscene when you first get it, but I'm pretty sure there is also a cutscene when you use it, so keep that in mind when timing. In addition remember that the day timer does not go down in the chibi house which is a minus and there are loading screens to take into consideration as well. You would avoid some loading screens by using it, but you would definitely get chibi-house and living room loading screens whenever you use it.

About the mug from the peekhole again, it would depend on when its being done. When you're going to open the suitcase in the bedroom, the day timer no longer matters, so it would be best to use the mug. If there is a day where timing is tight, its also would also be best to use the mug. Otherwise, if you already have the chibi-copter selected, then its best to use that, unless it causes another recharge.

EDIT: Another thing about trauma suit I forgot, when you use it, you plug into the chibi-house plug, so if you have gotten happy points, you could get the ranking calculation cutscene.

Okay run: good beginning, bad end, decent peekoh http://www.twitch.tv/singlescoop/c/5788514
oh yeah this is my first time streaming since livestream so the mixer looked okay in obs but was actually doodoo you can hardly me
jp copy run: http://www.twitch.tv/singlescoop/b/606452981
Differences: obv have to fix text but either way you can tell it scrolls faster. I use the same route and it works the same. A few minimal differences like he cage looks different, jenny says kero, yes no is red circle blue x. I haven't tested anything outside of what I do with my route but I don't think I will because I'm pretty sure it would be irrelevant in a speedrun regarding my route.
So I've been eyeing this thread since its culminated, and I've finally got the time to get into it. I'm just gonna say that I have a japanese GC and copy of Chibi-robo available, so I can advocate for differences from NA and JP.

SingleScoop's JP vs NA run yields some pretty minor differences, but for me, the 42 second difference on day one almost makes it worth running the Japanese version.
What do you guys think?
what do you mean by "worth running"? JP is a lot faster because of every cutscene has less text. Just make sure to fix the text if you want to have comparable times though. Like there isn't an official release of it being in mojibake so we shouldn't use those for times.

What I meant was that maybe there is a glitch in the NA worth using over the JP version, but you're probably right.
The only useful glitch that we know of is the zip slide thing but that's only necessary in tight situations. I haven't tried it on JP since I don't use the zip slide but I'm assuming it would work.

I tested the zip slide on the JP version, and it works. Also, the text in the physical copy works.
yeah I have a physical copy too but text working depends on the console itself
Ah, okay, MY JP GC works with the copy. I've been just running through the game, considering I have never technically completed it, and I've been taped to your twitch playthroughs and pastebin, but I have a question just to start off.

Why in the pastebin does it say to stop 1010g on night one? Is it just because its the fastest way to do it, or is it to prevent an extra cut scene or something?
Also, I've tested AND looked up on countless walkthroughs how to get the spydorz to spawn, and the general consensus is that you talk to dad and then they appear on day 3. I hope I'm not repeating something already said here, just trying to keep info flowing.

ik you don't need the dad cutscene for them to spawn day 3, it's just jenny on stairs. I say stop at 1010 because drake cutscene gives 100 and blaster is 1110. I suicide after getting blaster for trauma suit but if you die without using trauma suit you get text for losing money. If you have 0g when you die you can't lose money and don't get the text. Also my pastebin route is outdated now, but my recordings use my new route. spydorz spawn and bone rng were pretty were pretty talked upon earlier in the thread
oooooh okay I understand it now, thanks for the clarification.
