So no one has done a speed run of Chibi-Robo! I have been looking into an ANY% run, just saving Giga-Robo and getting to the credits. Besides money troubles, the only real problem I see is Spydor drop RNG. If anyone else is interested in running this game, let me know. I'd love to collaborate and plan some routes.

You might want to look into this topic https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/chibi_robo__gc.html

Are you talking Segmented or SS? SS seems impossible at the moment without a drastic route change.
EDIT: Also JP version is likely faster for this game because text for this game is really slow.
I have been practicing some Single Segment stuff recently. The only reason I started a new thread is because it looks like that one died and I haven't seen a single record for the game out there. It's obvious that Segmented would be the only reasonable option what with all of the RNG drops. Other than that, I think money making strats and routes are the only thing really keeping us from doing SS. If you get more than 300 scrap with the first Spydor Encounter, you can get the Foyer ladder and that let's you progress. The only other required utilibot is the Kitchen ladder and maybe the warps for conviniece. Otherwise, we just need money for upgrades and charger watts. If anyone is up to get this game going again, I'm ready to go!

I'm in for helping with anything.

Kitchen ladder isn't required, if the bone spawns in the kitchen. You would only need the spoon if it spawned outside.

I have some ideas that might not be mentioned in the previous thread though.

First is buying timers to end days sooner. If you buy a timer after time has passed during the day, the time that has passed transfers over to the new timer. Basically, if you spend 3 minutes on the 15 timer (1/5 of the day), then buy the 5 timer, you now have 4 minutes left in the day. However, buying them will cost time, obviously.

The next is looking into more glitches and stuff. I found a glitch on youtube that allows you to clip out of bounds in the drains. It is likely useless, but that is something to look into. According to the comments, you can see the backyard from it though, so who knows.

The timers would definitely help early on. Once we get the Pajamas it's kinda pointless.

I didn't look too far into that thread but I saw on your first route that you included the squirter. In my most recent practice run, I was able to get Ganymede back into the ship without squirting him. I never even went into Jenny's room in this run.

I actually didn't know that the Bone can spawn in the Kitchen. I thought it was backyard only. I guess that's a life saver.

My main issues are Spydor RNG and Money Troubles. In a segmented run, Peekoe would be the best option with luck, but I think SS well planned Chibi Doors would make for a great run type. It would be random as hell but it would be pretty interesting.

Lastly, that glitch probably won't help much considering how Chibi can barely get any vertical movement on his own and the drain is already out of the way.

Also, JP version would probably be fast but not by much. The "Dynamic" text speeds would probably still be there. Something that should definitely be looked into is potential cutscene skips. If we could get up to the bedroom windowsill to get over to Mrs. Sanderson faster than it would be to watch the Frog cutscene, that would be great. I'm not sure if that even skips it though. I'll look into it soon.

You can get to the bedroom windowsill, the problem is that the cutscene trigger extends over it. Cutscene triggers in this game are freaking huge.

Also the problem with SS isn't the money, so much as the Happy Points. After getting a lot of money with Peekoh in segmented, you convert a bunch to happy points. When everything in this game lowers your health, this is important. You could potentially not have enough energy to kill the final boss.
Good point. I actually forgot that you could convert money to happy points.

Cutscene triggers have always been a issue in this game for me. There are so many and only a couple that are avoidable. I also managed to get quite a few happy points from talking to Mrs. Sanderson when I got my Pajamas and did the Toy Receipt and each of the Aliens give you 26 twice when you take them to Giga. I think they give you some when you get them to their beds too. It's obviously not enough to rank up enough. If a SS category was made, it would include a lot of Chibi Doors and a lot of Scrubbing with the Toothbrush. If we can clean fast enough with it, Happy Points and Money wouldn't be that bad.
We might want to look into any sources of happy points and moolah. If you can get enough Frog Rings, and give them all to Jenny at once, that is potentially a large number of happy points (Giving it to her all at once is better than going through the cutscene multiple times. at least I think). Also, look into throwing out trash as another grinding source. A lot of trash isn't out of the way.
I was thinking about Frog Rings also and it seems like a good idea.

My one problem with trash is that every new type of trash has a text box and Telly comment. I feel like scrubbing would make for more money and happy points with less talking.

Scrubbing creates cleaning bonuses with Telly dialogue every time. So it is just as bad. Though the telly comments are only for picking up the party poppers.
"Always Throw Trash in a proper receptacle!"

I guess you are right. It really depends on the amount of garbage or stains. Each stain gets a couple Happy Points and every bonus gets you more AND money.

The Trauma suit is a WONDERFUL thing, but my main issue with going back to the Chibi House is the Happy Point updates. It'd be best to schedule Trauma Suit uses when we don't get any happy point changes.
I guess the first thing to do would be to do a test run with like no happy points, and is purely moolah focused. You would need to recharge a ton (which will cost some time), and definitely cheese the middle spydor survival section with mug. See where we need to be with happy points for the final boss.

Oh yeah, you know about falling with mug, right? How it allows you to quickly fall without losing any health whatsoever. (So please, nobody ever discover mug skip)
I know about the mug. It's seriously my favorite thing in the game besides Telly saying that he's proud of the work we have done after splitting up the family. I found out about it looking up the Radar falling glitch. The radar one has less of an animation but actually uses power and needs to be executed better. Mug is the best.
Also, we should try to look into possibly skipping sophie at the beginning of the game by somehow flying over her. There are probably invisible walls all over it, and flight camera tends to get in your way a lot, but it could be worth a shot. We may still need Drake Redcrest suit to be able to pose, but still, it is a possibility.
This isn't a matter of Speed running but, I SUCK at posing in time with Drake at the beginning. It is my ultimate downfall. I need practice. Anyway, It's also a matter of getting high up enough that early in the game to get in the kitchen.
Isn't there a cord that leads up to the record player? Where is that exactly?
It is pretty close to Sophie I guess. There is a little discovery cutscene with Telly dialogue when you find it. The door is open in the opposite direction though and I doubt you could make it.
I'll see if I can test some stuff on my own. (so much for catching up on my enormous gaming backlog Sad )
You have to play chicken. Best minigame.
I just did something interesting in a completed file. I climbed ALL the way up to the record player and then the lamp to the highest point and hovered into the Kitchen door. Sophie of course wasn't there but when I reached the door I was walking through it on air with my copter still out. I made it into the room though. I wonder if A. Sophie would hit me or B. The cutscene would be triggered.
I just did it again. I would definitely clear Sophie's model but I doubt the cutscene would skip. They probably also have walls there. I think it would actually be faster to just have the cutscenes go.
If we did skip Sophie, we would skip Drake also. I guess it would be faster then.
Nope. Once you get ANYWHERE near the door, the cutscene triggers. It can't be skipped.
UNLESS, we can skip it after the first cutscene. Testing that now.
Invisible walls. Invisible Walls everywhere. No Sophie Skip:(
