Magical. Flying. Bathtub
You're suddenly very negative, Cronikeys, didn't have you figured as someone who followed Rare's rules Tongue

That is a shame though, I guess even breaking the game has its limits

I'm not being negative Tongue I have many non-bee ideas for skipping Furnace Fun and a very good lead on an 810 note door skip that doesn't involve clipping.
Magical. Flying. Bathtub
Man, at this rate someone could start an any% run now and by the time they finished the route would already be obsolete!

I think this is max% bee (as of now) for the levels you would get into without paying using RBA

Some things I'm going to work on are clipping into RBB boat and GV temples to get more notes.

EDIT:
810-(96+70+85) = 559 if Bubblegloop Swamp before RBA
810-(83+70+85) = 572 if Clanker's Cavern before RBA

Worlds before RBA:
Mumbo's Mountain
Treasure Trove Cove
Clanker's Cavern or Bubblegloop Swamp
Freezeezy Peak
Mad Monster Mansion
Click Clock Woods (20 notes in Spring, 16 in Summer, 48 in Fall, 16 in Winter)

It seems to me like you'd be better off paying for an extra world that you could use RBA for rather than going to Winter (assuming I did the math right).

Mumbo's Mountain - 1
Treasure Trove Cove - 2
Clanker's Cavern - 5
Bubblegloop Swamp - 7
Freezeezy Peak - 8
Gobi's Valley - 9
Mad Monster Mansion - 10
Rusty Bucket Bay - 12
Click Clock Woods - 15
Final Battle - 25
Honeycomb - 4

The jiggies you would need would be 36 plus whatever RBA-able world you would pay for (for example, paying for BGS and GV would mean you'd need 52 jiggies total).
I found a way to get a lot more notes as bee by clipping into a temple in GV and the boat in RBB. I documented how (along with some other stuff to show off how bee works in other worlds) in this video:

Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
I messed around with the bee warp and found that you can get into Treasure Trove Cove and Mad Monster Mansion with the bee. I also recorded getting into Bubblegloop Swamp and the beginning of the warp glitch itself.

Also, since it's better to have all the discussion in one thread, I've changed the title of this thread to "Banjo-Kazooie (All Categories)" and I've asked Mike to lock the 100% thread. I'll collect some information about the recent glitches and put them in the first post.
As of right now, you can't get bee without already visiting both Treasure Trove Cove and Mad Monster Mansion.

I have found several new clips with RBA in Clanker's Cavern and Rusty Bucket Bay. I also have ideas for getting into more temples in Gobi's Valley. I plan on making a video of these soon.

Also, good call on combining the thread. It was getting confusing having two threads with overlapping tricks.

Method for getting all the remaining notes in Clanker's Cavern and a faster way to clip into a cabin in Rusty Bucket Bay.

Demonstration of a weird glitch that places Banjo in the wrong area during a cutscene. I thought it might lead to an 810 note door skip, but upon further testing it is unlikely (unless the cutscene end can be prevented and you can gain control of Banjo).

Nice find ^^
Can you possibly activate the other end of the Cauldron-Warp by performing this, allowing you to normally warp without having to visit the other end beforehand?

Unfortunately no, not yet. That would lead to several major skips including Furnace Fun, but it's really unlikely something like that will be found.
Hello! I'm fairly new here, but I've been playing Banjo consistently every day over the last few weeks and Have finished it three times 100%, I was just wondering, since I would like to start running this game, for a 100% run first and perhaps any% later, But before I start practising, I was just wondering if anyone had an opinion on the best way to practice a run like this, should I aim to be faster at each level than the current run and just practice that over and over? Or practice the whole game as normal to just get good with the mechanics? I'm just not sure what'd be more useful at such an early stage.. Also The game saves automatically, does anyone know at which points the game saves? Is the only way to practice later stages running through the whole game first?

I'm not sure if any of these new glitches are going to be useful in a 100% run so that'd be interesting to look into The Bee glitch definitely looks fairly promising just to make underwater faster if nothing else? Or a different level order?, I think I'll see once I'm decent at the current route.

I've been looking but I haven't seen a more up-to-date route than the one used in the current run So am I correct in assuming it's the best route to take at the moment?

Sorry for asking A lot, I'm just not having much luck finding information about this game Haha.

The current SDA run was beaten by over 10 minutes using various route improvements and glitches that I found. You can see the current WR here (no audio):

Copy this route for 100%

Also, twitch.tv/stivitybobo (the WR holder) streams like every day on twitch you can follow/watch him. There's also #banjo on the SDA IRC server (might be moving to the SRL server soon) where most Banjo discussion happens.
Oh wow Looks like I'll have to start writing my notes from scratch again haha. Thanks.

This is great, awesome job Cronikeys.

I know there are still more glitches in the development but assuming the 810 note door cannot be beaten, a run would look something like this?

MM - 10 jiggles - 100 notes. 5 mins
TTC - 10 jiggles - 99 notes. 7.xx
BBS - 7 jiggles - 86 notes? 7/8
FP - MMM - 15 jiggles total - 190 notes
CCW - 80 notes
CC - 100 notes
GV - 70 notes
RBB - 85 notes

Obviously these are just estimates but it would appear that could be the best run and as a way to find more notes with the bee then less notes will be needed in BBS/ FP/ MMm etc

I'll post all information about the WIP TAS here I guess so people won't have to speculate:

Here is a 99.99% finalized list of skipped jiggies in Any%:

  • TTC - X Marks the Spot
  • TTC - Sandcastle
  • BGS - Tiptup Choir
  • BGS - Feed Croctus
  • BGS - Vile*
  • FP - Race 1*
  • FP - Race 2*
  • FP - Jinjos*
  • FP - Christmas Tree
  • FP - Talk to Wozza*
  • FP - Find presents and give to Boggy's kids
  • MMM - Organ
  • MMM - Slider Minigame (borderline - 50 seconds, still get notes)
  • GL - MMM Witch Switch
  • CCW - All (10)
  • CC - All (10)
  • RBB - All (10)
  • GV - All (10)
  • GL - CCW, CC, and RBB Witch Switch (3)

*these jiggies will be skipped because the transformation that is required for them is skipped

MM - close to 100% route.
TTC - close to 100% route (*might* be skipping the one note in the little alcove across from the chest -- still TBD)
BGS - Crocodile will be skipped and we'll most likely death warp in the maze -- around 80~ notes
FP - Walrus will be skipped, but most (all?) notes will be collected (although it is now possible to get Jinjos w/o walrus [see video below], but this might not be used in the TAS [still a nice lil' Christmas video])

MMM - Organ room will be skipped, so the notes in there will be skipped
CCW - I think we're going to fall getting most notes (I've been trying to make more notes in GV w/ RBA possible)
CC - 100
GV - 81
RBB - 100 (speaking of which, here's an unlisted video that took like 3000 rerecords to get)

This type of clip will be used three times to help get all notes in RBB

We have a list of Mumbo Tokens that we'll be getting, but I just woke up and don't have the link off the top of my head. I can post it later if you want.

MM - ~5
TTC - ~6
BGS - ~6
FP - ~6
MMM - ~7
CCW - ~10
CC - ~3
GV - ~3
RBB - ~5

Plus Grunty's Lair, Furnace Fun, and Grunty Fight, I estimate the Any% TAS will be around 1:20.

Other stuff that I've found since last time I've posted:

New way to clip as Banjo

Painful Floor has teleportation properties (might be how Sphinx clip works)

You can fly under Gobi's Valley

You can break two NPCs by escaping their "return to normal" cutscene:

Collection of new OOBs:

I'll post this here because it would be useful if ever attempted in a run, but as of now (without a setup) it's pretty much tas-only:

This eliminates backtracking in 100%. If done in realtime, you would no longer need to visit Freezeezy Peak before Gobi's Valley. I estimate it saves about 2 minutes.

It was found by Kirkq, me, and RingRush. Kirkq found you could clip here as bee, RingRush and I thought to try it as Banjo while flying, and I was the first to clip while flying.
F*ckin' sanity effects...
This is just continuously awesome work, and it's amazing to see how broken this game has become considering recent runs.  Really great work, thank you, I'm stoked for a TAS with the latest breakthroughs.
hey, i'm not sure where the best place to discuss this is but i've been watching a lot of b-k 100% runs on srl and feel i've noticed a slight route error that would save all of 1-2 seconds.

in the current route after finishing clanker's cavern and completing the bubble gloop swap puzzle, the route then gets the clanker's witch switch jiggy before activating the warp caldron and continuing on.  i believe it'd be 1-2 seconds faster to go directly from the bubble gloop swamp puzzle to the warp cauldron, continuing on the rest of the route as normal without getting the clanker witch switch jiggy, then getting the clanker jiggy after using the warp cauldron (as you go towards the ccw puzzle).  this strikes me as very marginally faster than the current route.  just wanted to point it out.
i'm also fairly certain the gobi clip is based on timing your charge so that you should be taking damage from the sand mid-charge, but similar to the deep dive glitches, the game gets confused regarding which animation to show (take damage or charge) and clips you through the wall.

From when I was watching Cosmo practice it, it seemed based on where you ended. E.g. if you ended just slightly left of the black line then you'd get pushed through otherwise you wouldn't.
yeah, i watched more clips.  i still don't think it's location alone that does it, but my theory on timing doesn't seem quite right.

yesterday i did my second any% speedrun of banjo kazooie and got a 2:44:04 Pal time (2:16:00 NTSC???) RTA

i created this route, i did not do RBA don´t know if it is possible on console but i used door of grunty skip

Mumbo Mountain 10 Jigsaw 100 Notes 2 Honeycomb

Treasure Trove Cove 10 Jigsaw 99 Notes 2 Honeycomb

Clankers Cavern 8 Jigsaw 98 Notes 2 Honeycomb (no swimming through the rings and jinjos)

Bubblegloop Swamp 7 Jigsaw 86 Notes  (vile, tiptup, feed croctus)

Gobi Valley 9 Jigsaw 95 Notes  (rings)

Freezeezy Peak 5 Jigsaw 94 Notes (no jinjos, both races, wozza, twinkles)

anyone agree with this or what can be better with the jiggies and notes?

the routes in the worlds weren´t good i forgot some routes which is bad

i have recorded the run if anyone is interested i can link it but it has no sound and is split in 4 videos because i was dropping frames during stream

Smasher32 and Stivitybobo have put a lot of work into any% -- here's the route they came up with: http://pastebin.com/C4en2V5Q

I think Stivitybobo has a time around 1:55 RTA with this route.
SEGA Junkie
PAL/NTSC doesn't affect the game timer, so 2:44 is still 2:44 no matter where you get it :p

okay thanks for the informations
