Interesting. I can't find any more info anywhere WRT this particular glitch and versions (beyond 'it doesn't work in 1.1') but as it happens I also can't* find evidence of a PAL 1.1 version existing at all. So maybe PAL 1.0 is the same as NTSC 1.1, in that respect at least? Would be good to get some more info on that, if anyone knows for sure.
If that is the case, though I'm simultaneously relieved and bummed. Relief that I do not, in fact, suck. Bummed that I won't be able to do it and will have to go back to the XBLA route of using Ticker to collect the last 4 Jiggys in the level (handily skipping the Get Jiggy animation, which is nice) and adding 5 Mumbo Tokens back in to the route. C'est la vie.
*cursory quick google search showed nothing relevant.
EDIT: Am I correct in thinking that the any% run can only be performed on PAL? Stiv's any% run shows him doing the slope climb: http://www.twitch.tv/stivitybobo/v/3633327
So if that's the case we're back to "lol, you just really suck tho"

Last I heard, PAL is used because it's easier to take the bee to other levels in PAL. It can still be done in NTSC, but it's harder. There may be other reasons PAL it used, though.

In that case, the slope climb can definitely be done in PAL. So there's something I'm not getting about this 'slope climb' business
I wish I had some way of recording (embarrassing though it is... really...) to demonstrate my complete and total failure as a person BK player but I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Unless it is that the A button on my very very old controller is a bit worn out. A bad workman always blames her tools, etc
Unfortunately I don't have a capture card, and the only webcam I have is built-in macbook one, and I can't record the TV from that (even if i get it balanced on something to point at the TV, the colours are waaaay too bright and you can't see much)
Spent another half hour on it earlier. Still didn't manage it. At this point I'd be happy just to make the jump from platform 2 to 3, tbh. That's all I ask for in life right now.
5 years later I have finally completed another Banjo-Kazooie run!
It is an any % RBA run done on PAL AUS><
The time clocks in at 1:35:31 which is a clear PB for me and takes nearly 70 minutes game time off my previous 100% run.
Feel free to check it out here and thanks so much for the support! Hopefully there'll be a few trick and especially route ideas which can help everyone!
hey, i was messing around trying to clip into the wall on gobi's valley while flying during the 25 second race (that fills the moat) as if possible you could theoretically fly into rupee's pyramid and complete gobi's without beak bomb. couldn't manage it, BUT it appears that flying to the finish of the race is a few seconds faster than completing it normally with running shoes (takes 8-9 feathers), though this is probably moot cuz the notes. just pointing it out, i guess.
Should add that stivitybobo has a new WR, 2:07:45 real time, sub-2:00:00 in-game time. And Furnace Fun was not kind (something like 8 missed Grunty questions), so you just know the rest of it was amazing. I caught RBB on live.
