Thanks guys! Smiley

And yeah, at first I survived like 1/25 times, now I'm getting the landing maybe 1/5 and then dying almost everytime on the doorframe boost >_>

Also, it should be noted that very rarely the clip will push you to the right instead of straight forward and I'm not sure how that's triggered. Another note is that there's most definitely a sweet spot where a running jump followed by boosting will allow you clip almost instantly and without stopping.

Hi!
So I'm Dpx008 on Twitch and I do Amnesia speedruns too. =)
Good to see there's actually a forum with everybody posting on it!
I guess I have to read everything here so I can have a good idea about how and what you guys discover glitches and everything.
I really got to implicate myself more in the community.
I guess.
You guys are probably going to see me around more often!

Edit: And oh, I forgot. André, c'est bien de voir un Montréalais qui speedrun!

Just found a new Nave 1 strategy. Shoveless and Barelless downstairs clip. Should be the fastest, easiest, and safest Nave we've ever had Cheesy This clip is probably one of the three easiest in the whole game (Guest Room, and Chancel 2 being the others). Let me know what you guys think!

Also, this is my forst post on Speed Demos Archive, though I think most Amnesia runners know me from Twitch.tv and SpeedRunsLive at this point! Hello everyone else! Follow me at www.twitch.tv/elendilandurilz Cheesy
This actually looks quite interesting!
By the way, welcome on the forums, even if I'm quite new too, and you just gained a follower on Twitch. Smiley
And you as well good sir! :]
Woo!
I'm probably going to do some runs on Saturday.

Great find Elendil!

On a sadder note, RIP in Peace the shovel Sad after this there's pretty much no reason to shovel clip anywhere :/

Edit: Disregard what used to be here ^^'

i tried the new Storage strat today with the monster luring and whatnot. he climbed onto the rocks and slapped me in the face ;_;

You can skip the flashback in Cistern Entrance 1 by boosting up some pipes.  Seems to save 5-10 seconds, but only if you get it first try.  You'll take considerable damage from the fall and probably want to pop a laud.  Found it a couple days ago when I was playing around with collision boxes displayed and noticed that this trigger's box was a little short.
Doing this boost perfectly, you'll save about 3 seconds on Cistern 1, Morgue will still be constantly in flashbacks (it'll play the two from inside back to back), but the last one will end as you enter Cistern 2, letting you just run up and clip.

so many sexy new things Cheesy

i really think we should get an updated, state-of-the-art recording of a really good run (segmented?) before AMFP comes out. but, my recording setup is bad, so it's more of a "hey someone should consider it" thing that i'm not sure i could really help with :S
Nailed Weables' new Cistern route twice in a row, and one of those the damage I took didn't even put me at orange, I was able to take another drop from missing the boost in the Cistern and still had max run speed! Didn't have to use a laud, which is great Smiley

Would love to see one as well.

On a side note, not sure if anyone is still working on the Amnesia wiki. Would be happy to help with content and such. I have a YT playlist with most of the speedrun videos posted here so far, so could easily post them there according to the room.
Oh, there's actually an Amnesia Wiki?
Could anyone send me a link?
What?

Yeah - with all the new discoveries there is definitely the potential for sub-20 segmented if we can find another few improvements (I still have a few new things i want to test out over the following days). I think any one person will struggle to get a whole segmented run cranked out anywhere close to A:AMFP's release (I know I certainly don't have the time right now to do a whole run!). I suggest we consider taking an approach akin to the way hl2dq and similar such runs are done and work on a segment by segment basis as a group to get a really strong run.

What?
Okay, made a video showcasing what the full cistern hub route would look like for a segmented run with the new discoveries + a new cells segmented route. Also i show a different boost you can use to skip the flashbacks.

I find the method i use to skip the flashback here to be fairly reliable and something you can try for free in a single segment run (unless hitting the flashback is a reset). The new cells route makes that area insanely hard for a marginal improvement - but it does skip triggering the rock collapse and the shadow chase which is kinda neat i suppose. Would probably need 3 segments for the cells as opposed to two to make it viable.
Lost about 3 minutes of time at Nave 2 and Nave 3 during a run yesterday...I'm not happy with these rooms -_-

In answer to your prayer, I've found a safe strat for Nave 2:

This strat is a couple seconds slower than doing the wall clip, assuming that you still went into the side room for the laud and chair to help.  But, it's pretty easy to perform with practice, and the clip seems very reliable so far.  If, for some reason, you still had 2 lauds in your bag at Nave 2, you'd could be better off hoping for a first try wall clip w/o chair.  But, I'll probably be doing this in SS runs from now on.

Sunder found a trick we're referring to as Barrel Armor:

While kiting the grunt in Storage can still be problematic, it makes him attack quickly and removes any chance of you getting hurt, making grunt strats pretty reliable.  It's also viable for use in Refinery.  You can simply opt to not close the door behind you and then clip into the boxes.  Since Daniel is inside the objects, they'll take the hit for you.
^To add to that, barrel armor is very safe since you can always toss the barrel at the grunt to buy yourself a few seconds if you happen to slip up. I missed the barrel grab by accident so instead of dying, I stalled the monster and in the end my segment was only 3 seconds slower than a perfectly-executed Barrel Armor.

Not to mention the grunt will 2-shot the rocks much more often with Barrel Armor, I seem to be getting it 9/10 times, as opposed to the 3 hits that Grunt strats usually takes.

I was running Justine today, and went for the shovel trick at the end of the corridor in the 4th room, but the shovel clipped me straight down thru the floor instead of forward thru the wall.  Has anyone seen that happen before?

Edit: KingDime has confirmed that he's had this happen to him exactly once in the main scenario.  Just a quirk of the trick, I guess.....

What?
So, i was playing around with inbounds routes today in the prison. Turns out you can use barrel armour to bust down the door in the 2nd prison map. I also found an interesting new way of skipping locked doors using a barrel and daniel as a kind of jack.

Regarding the shovel through floor stuff - I've had the shovel launch me through the floor once or twice in other spots before (it likes to do it on the alternative shovel strat for 4th justine room by the entrance). Not had it happen near the crusher before but I'm guessing it is just a very small chance of happening on any shovel clip.

Have you noticed any change in reliability of shovel clips based on the shovel orientation by the way? I find the shovel tends to launch me to its right (if you are looking from handle->head) rather than the left. Wondering if that is just my execution or if the collision-mesh is not quite symmetric.

Main Work!!!
Hey there everyone, it's been a while, way too long in fact.

The reason for me stop playing this game and stop coming at SDA was because my computer was stoled a couple of months ago Unfortunately but fortunately, my roomate lends me a pretty bad computer(but hey, at least it's working Tongue ), so thanks a lot to him I can come and comment here again Cheesy . Okay, so now, I have a lot of thing to say, first, I was totally impress by the progress that game made while I wasan't there, that's totally mind-blowing, gratz to everyone.

I'll start with the new WR I saw yersterday by mr Weable, dude, that was freaking great, even I, set hyper optimistic goal, didn't think that the SS would go that low, 27:09 is totally insane bro. Nice Flashback skip you found in the entrance of the cistern, that was great, nice new Nave strat but a perfect execution of the older one is still faster though, that window study room skip was small but unexpected so great job on that too and whoever found that exploit over the barrel video I've made a while ago in the storage, gratz to that too, it's freaking great to see the game progress that much.

Then, I'lll talk about Sunder refinery, good job men, I've been trying to exploit this room for I don't know how much hour and I never manage to get that, so that's pretty nice also, that should speed up the run a bit!!!

Insane work as always for everything Apjjm Wink !!!

Now, I think it would be time to settle the (I hope this time it's real Tongue ) final route for the SS and SS/reset, I came up  with a pretty risky route but I'm totally sure it's doable, so at the moment the computer I have barely run the game so I'll still practice and soon enough I should buy a new gamer republic computer so I shouldn't have any problem playing and recording.

-Rainy Hall(as is, I don't think there will never be a way to break it faster, we pretty much tried everything OOB)
-Old archive(as is too)
-Entrance Hall(there a more forward way that save about 2 seconds but way more risky, so we should stick with the reliable way Adam found)
    -W/reset save warp there
-Refinery, The new Sunder Route would be awesome, it looks a bit hard but definitely doable.
-Archives Tunnel(there's been a debate on weither we should or should not be doing the barrel skip in a SS, because I've been practiving this like a crazy, and I can manage to pull it out 1/7th of the time and pretty much everyone are telling me that it's too unreliable, but I think we should consider it, it save so much time
-The rest of the CH1 as is, it's pretty much already perfect for that part
-In the w/reset route, instead of the barrel armor in the storage, we use an alternate route with a shovel and save warp at the end and we also save warp at the end of Study room, Guess room and Machine Room
-Prison, Is the barrel trick faster? doesn't look like it from my point of view, but I din't test it out.
-Entrance of the cistern, awesome new strat, the rest pretty much as is(of course save warp the morgue in the w/reset
-Sewer, DAMN
-Nave, new route I asume, look kind of a bit faster and skip a flashback if I'm not wrong.
-The rest up to chapter 3 is pretty much identical to the route we were using when I found the new way out after the Transept.(of course again, save warp choir, entrance of the choir and transept in the w/reset)
-In chapter 3, we should do the prison oob...Not. Seriously, the route is pretty much identical and will be as is. in that case there's no ww/reset trick too.

Finally, it's great to be back, we should get on skype some of these days like Apjjm(if you still don't have, you should get it Tongue ), Adam, weable, I, etc.

Also, I'm very happy that you are now both better than me Adam and Weable, like a told you a while ago Adam, I'm not very good at speedrunning computer game, I was more there to destroy the game to allow other people to do WR and make it like insane with a lot of Swag, anyway, I should redo my 100% and my glitchless eventually Wink I'll have those at least!!!

P.S. Dpx, c'est cool voir un autre Montréalais speedunner amnesia, j'espère que tu es toujours dedans et que tout va bien pour toi dans ce speedrun Wink !!

Hey Andre <3

As far as Prison North goes, you'll want to still ceiling clip with the boulders for any%, BUT I found the other day that if you want to save Agrippa, it's faster to grab a barrel in the Glass Jar room, take it with you, and Barrel Armor to get to the cistern.  This is because it eliminates the backtracking to the boulders to get oob.  I only tried it once, but I outran the grunt and he destroyed the gate in one attack!

Edit: Also, it didn't work at all with the chair, though I was still immune to damage.
Totally rad
You can grab the Glass Jar while being out of bounds. There's no need to backtrack all the way to the boulders after the glass jar.
