Hi everyone, i make  a first run in Any% (2:36:01) with a stage with the help wing (stage 5-5) for skip the (true?)last boss (Bowser).
I have a lot of stupid death so i can esealy gain 30-40 min. And  i think with some 'skip' we can get a 1:30:00-1:45:00 like you said Koffingrockz.
I dont stream my first run. But i will stream the next one.

oh and i split  when i start the adventre after skiping the intro and my split is on the last dialog of Kamek when she take Bowser Jr.

I just got a 1:55:48 with probably 20+ deaths lol
Should the time start before or after the intro skip?

Also, I've found a way to bring an Eggdozer(is that the name of the big egg?) back near the beginning of 1-1. There's a cliff that is supposed to keep you from bringing it back up towards the left since the thing weighs you down and gets rid of your flutter, but you can easily jump off an enemy to get back up. There's also an egg dispenser that you can't get over without your flutter or jumping on an enemy, but you can glitch the Eggdozer through it just by walking really slowly. No use, but still interesting and I figured it post it here.

Hey Scykoh, any tips on consistently getting that skip in 1-6? Like any indicators you use at all? It's pretty tough to pull off.
1:52:21 meh... most time lost to rng (mainly 5-2) only 3 unintentional deaths. Sub 1:45 HYPE
I'm assuming you're just having an issue with the Shy Guy spit bounce portion, Damon? Unfortunately, I can't really give any visual or audio cue for that one. Normal spit bounces I just spit up very briefly after he starts to flutter, but spit bouncing after bouncing off an enemy is much more difficult to time. At this point it's just a "feel for it" kinda thing, though I've gotten it 10x in a row so with practice it can be consistent.

Some small things I've found:
If you jump while running at full speed, Yoshi slows down a tiny bit when you make contact with the ground, so we should try to minimize any unnecessary jumps while going at full speed. We should still jump over slopes, though.

You can quickly get up to full speed by doing two short hops in a row. It's a bit faster than just walking forward.

The spot you land on in the Goal Ring can be easily manipulated. First, run towards it at full speed without stopping. If you need to land on a flower for 100%, jump high in the air through the ring. You will always land on the top flower. If you jump through it closer to the ground, it will land in the top left spot. Pictures for reference:

Actually, as far as jumping up slopes, that seems to be slower as well. I did a frame comparison video here, let me know if you think my methods are inaccurate!

Can i get some advice on the 1-1 spit bounce thing?
When you jump off that one cliff, hold forward and spit it out almost right after your flutter starts. Make sure you hold up when you spit him out. Just keep holding forward and A and you should jump right off him and boost up on top of the pipes.

Be sure to practice this, because I'm sure there will be many more places found where this can be used throughout the run.

Awesome video by the way, Scykoh! It would be awesome if you could check slopes of different steepness too.

As for the leaderboards, should we create a spreadsheet on Google Drive?

That would be great.  Also I agree.  The slope in 2-2 dosn't seem to slow you down at all whereas others do

I'll happily let anyone be an editor and change anything they want to the format. Just be honest whenever you make changes to the leaderboards and such obviously. Just shoot me your google accounts and I'll share it with you!

Edit: However, once this game becomes more optimized and times begin to get lower, we're eventually going to need video proof to make changes, right?

Whoops, sorry about that. Changed it to public. I haven't actually put any times up or anything, just made the spreadsheet.

Edit: Put in current known times and made changes as necessary.
Completed my first run with a time of 2:24:27. This run was done without knowing the route from pretty much 3-4 on. Waaaaaay too many stupid deaths as well. Shows how much room for improvement there is. Also, I wasn't aware that the final Bowser fight was able to be skipped if you used the wings in one of the levels. That's pretty awesome! Also, when should time officially end? I used that fade-out after the Baby Bowser fight.

I split on the fade out but I really want the final split to be on the last hit of bowser.  That would feel so good… I'm probably gonna upload my 6-1 starts soon

damon: I say SRL timing should be used.  That's where you start the run on the last input on the main menu.  That input would be when you hit A on Story Mode.

I was debating this myself. Whether the Bowser fight is considered to be a part of the main game or not is confusing. I think the game may count it as an extra level when you don't use any help throughout. When you do skip Bowser and only beat Baby Bowser however, the ending cutscene and credits still play.

Not sure if there's video of a full run yet. And that's the confusing part about it. You start the game, instantly reset, and then go back through the menu again. I think it can be compared to DK64.
