Could you please help me with this game?

Ripped from a DVD using Anri-Chan
Game: Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Platform: Game Boy Advance

The game is not in the database, so i'm not sure what the proper settings are. Thanks!

Edit: Just realized that all games played on the GBA player had the same numbers. Sorry for the post.

yep, d4 f1 2d, make sure the right filter is selected (probably a deflicker), and crop off the borders.
Out of wonder, this game has an in-game GBA player setting too. Should I use that or leave it as it is? Also when I crop the video, do I just crop the black field? Or should I also crop the small gray lines between the game video and the black field?

i've never heard of this. so i guess i can't give you a good answer. maybe post test videos with both settings?

Thanks, I'll post a video showing both settings tomorrow.

thanks from help
Dragon Warrior VII (PS1 disc, played on a PS2)?  I got this sample using Anri-chan.  Thanks!

...By the way, any technical tips for recording a 16-hour long run?  The raw file size is enormous, and I'm concerned that something will go wrong with the recording.  (I'm currently using a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 950Q as the capture card, AmarecTV, and the Lagarith lossless codec.)

d4 f2. settings and sample encodes attached.

you can encode your segments as you go using yua. you don't have to put the final time on the statid. you actually don't have to have a statid at all but it's recommended because it makes it more annoying for people trying to steal your run.

Thank you very much!

I was actually going to attempt a single-segment, but if I can't find a way to record it, I'll just make it segmented.
make sure lagarith is in yuy2 mode. (rather than rgb - do NOT use yv12 for interlaced material). beyond that there is another thing you can try for this game and this game only (because it is d4 f2): you can capture at 320x240 instead of 720x480 if your card allows it. that will dramatically reduce the bitrate of the original. then in yua, use settings progressive scan d1 f1 3d. if this works then you can post a quality test if you want to be sure.
Interesting idea...  But, it seems like my card won't allow 320x240.  I'm considering buying a different capture card anyway, though, so I'll keep that in mind.

But, I think I've found a way to handle the large file size.  I'm going to try recording the game directly to an external hard drive.  I think the video will be about 400 GB, but the hard drive has 600 GB of space.  So it should be fine, as long as the data transfer doesn't cause any problems.

If data size is troubling you, you may want to look into substituting Lagarith for x264vfw (also lower CPU usage this way). This will cut about 50-60% off what Lagarith would give you for no real loss (based on the settings below).

If you really want to match Lagarith bit for bit then you could enable Lossless mode where the CRF is and this will still cut down the final size by about 30% or something.

looks really good.

d4 f1 2d no change. settings screenshot and sample encodes attached.

ok, thanks man
I've uploaded a sample of: Order of the Griffon (Turbo Duo/ Turbo Grafx 16)

Could someone tell me the D and F for this? And also whether this is NTSC or PAL?

The link to the clip is: http://www.gamefront.com/files/24348169/OotG+Test+Footage.zip

Thanks, and let me know if you need anything else.
Actually I think I found it. I selected D: 1, F: 1, 2D: Y, and it worked perfectly. Since I used FRAPS I selected Progressive.
If someone would kindly check this, I'd appreciate it.
