It's not difficult to force yourself to see the "merits" of any video game, but one person's reason to like a game is another person's reason to dislike it.

I like games with an emphasis on tight gameplay and presentation. I enjoy a good challenge. Depth and replayability is nice.

I don't like meandering, "deep" storylines, emphasis on dialogue (unless it's witty or genuinely well written and thought out) and cinematics, forced attempts at "character development" or such things. I don't like ugly, self-serious games or lack of engaging gameplay. Attempts at "realism" in terms of setting and presentation usually does not fare well with me, since I view video games as escapism. Give me "Violent City" any day of the week.

So basically, Final Fantasy games (or other similar RPGs, I won't play them, but I suspect games like FF7 or 10 aren't necessarily the worst offenders, even if they are two of the worst games I've played) as well as all the 3D Zeldas (not necessarily terrible, just not my cup of tea. Wind Waker at least did the presentation aspect right) are out. I can still see their "merits" although I personally would consider most of those to be flaws. Also: Metal Gear Solid series.

Okami is another supposed great that I was very disappointed with.
INTJ
Let's see... I generally don't like shooters, so I don't like Golden Eye, Doom or Wolfenstein, but that's because I don't like the genre mostly (although I liked Halo). Same with Horror-Type games (RE, Amnesia).

I could never get into the 3D GTAs. I played a bit of GTA 2, but after that it seemed to be pointless to continue.

Earthbound is another game I simply couldn't get into. It's probably mostly due to the general theme of the game which is nothing for me. I tried playing it on multiple occasions, basically whenever I've seen/read another high-praise review of someone (like the HVGN). But I don't understand it anyways.

Tomb Raider - I tried playing the first 3 titles, after that I gave up. I didn't care about the story, I didn't care about the game - I simply think the controls are horrible.

Happy Wheels, Binding of Isaac, Splatterhouse are games I absolutely hate. I'm certain, I would like the gameplay of Binding of Isaac, maybe also the gameplay of the other two as well - I never tried it. What throws me off is the artstyle/presentation. I've never been into the bloody/gory type of games, but these seem to be special. I actually feel physically sick after a short time when watching others playing those.
Must not sleep. Must warn others.
Pretty much any of the military shooters that are flooding the market now a days. I can only get sniped from across the map so many times before becoming violently mad.
Can't get into Call of Duty or the Halo games. This mostly stems from not being a big FPS fan to begin with (grew up on Doom, Wolfenstein, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, etc). I see why they're so popular, but I just can't get into them. This is more of a genre thing than the games themselves, though I did get addicted to Borderlands and Bioshock.

I also could not stand Kingdom Hearts when it came out. I debate on if I should go back and give it another chance, but I just can't get past the visual presentation of the game to even bother.
I'll kinda 2nd Kingdom Hearts. I just couldn't get past the Disney/FF crossover. Then I took the chance and got KH Final Mix and sat down with it. Overtime I was finding myself getting sucked into the story and actually enjoying the game. With that, I followed up with KH2 Final Mix. I'm not into it enough to get the DS and PSP games, but I won't deny those are just as awesome.

Other than that, this whole FPS craze going on is a little over the top for me. Especially with CoD...I know they must be awesome, but geez...
