About the satchel charge, that all depends on how much you trust both your ability to make the jump and the game's choice as to whether it admits you made the jump or not ^0^;  I really prefer to get it from the ground.  Also before I forget- about the jump to the Eagle Feather; Only jump from the flat surface at the top towards the metal beam.  It always makes you fall through if you're leaning on the ramped surface.  Also, I find the jump much easier if I first kill the patrolling Endtrail and use the Flare Gun at the top to get a cleaner view of the top surface of the metal beam.  Also when you make the jump and get the easy feather and switch, it's definitely better to get the charge from the ground because the spawn trigger for one of the wall patrolling Endtrails is right on the other side of the big circular support.

I see thanks for the info. Something funny happened when I got the satchel from the top using the eagle feather shortcut. I went to fall down to free the prisoner but Turok got stuck as I was falling off and a few seconds later the game flew me across the level back to the eagle feather shortcut :D. The shortcut itself is pretty reliable for me. I prefer jumping to the furthest edge of it seems to work best. I'll take on board the jump from the flat surface to start with.

I find the circular jump trick to get overhead items rather finicky. It seems to want to work straight away sometimes, and other times it can take nearly 100 jumps. on last attempt I got the ultra health without even jumping, well at least it looked like that's what happened.

I'm wondering whether the time spent getting the big arsenal of weapons at the eye of truth talisman would make up for it in the long run with having better weapons for bad guys. I also haven't managed to get this trick to work yet either, although I have felt a solid surface beneath me after the jump, followed by a quick fall lol.
Ah yes, sometimes it's as simply as just walking under it.  I never actually tried jumping down from the cage, that is some interesting stuff ^o^  I guess it could also be helpful to try the overhead dealy by simply tapping forward and releasing several times while moving under it and then if you miss you can jump while tapping and releasing back.  Different versions of the game probably have some slight changes in the mechanics.

Oh, also about the added weapons- In Level 2 the Flamethrower completely owns the Soul Gates, The Firestorm Cannon is great against the big zombies, and with the right technique the Grenade Launcher can trash a Sister of Despair in two hits.  In explanation; This might sound too simple and easy to be true, but seriously you can do a full height jump while aiming straight forward and shoot a Sister of Despair in either the torso or face(at close range) without even aiming up!  This can also take them out in as little as three hits from the green shell Shotgun, but as long as you've got the heavy weapons you might as well steam roll 'em -nod-
Nice ! well that settles that then. I did wonder about how quickly the soul gates could be destroyed with the flamethrower, damn that weapon is crazy strong. Explosive shredder is pretty good too, but I guess flamethrower owns that anyway. Big zombies are a pain but Mag 60 to the face with auto aim off is very good too. But I have to say firestorm cannon on level two is instant win in my book. sisters of despair can be hard to hit with their erratic movements. I like sniping the last one though but the first two are too close for them to stay still so they move around a lot. Grenade launcher it is then. I gotta master that eye of truth jump then.
Ah yes, at best the Flamethrower can destroy the gate by the time it spawns just one light zombie(at a cost of about 20-22 ammo).  The thing to remember about the Shredder is that you don't get a regular supply of explosive shells for it, otherwise I'd recommend it very highly as well.  The green shell Shredder is also great against the big zombies, and decent against the Sisters of Despair.  It just so happens that sniping is my favorite way to deal with the last Sister too ^o^
Is there a video I can view that shows the eye of truth jump ? as I think that would be best for me to get the right set of movements down. If not I could just wait for yours or Ewils run (that's if he does the trick). Other than this the level is pretty much optimized as much as I can get it. A trick I've known about for a while and I'm certain you know and utilized this anyway, and I've known about for a long time is walking across swamp water doesn't do any harm if you keep jumping. With the right timing of course as if you leave yourself in there for too long you die. I shave a number of seconds off this level just by abusing this. Especially going to the wooden tower that takes you to the 2nd armory. I'm not sure but I think you can stay alive forever in the swamp if your jumping is timed right every time. I can't wait to know what my time at the hub will be. Maybe early 20's, I'm having trouble on the totem due to not being able to do the eye of truth trick yet mostly.

Anyway as I say I think this level is almost optimized as best as it can and I'd like to start level 2. is there any tricks I should know about ? It's actually my favourite level and I can blitz it on hard mode as it is. Out of curiosity, did you ride the Ceratops to begin with, I've found that it's practically suicide on hard mode and is much better to go on foot.
Sadly I don't know of any other videos with the Eye of Truth trick.  I know about the basic premise of swamp jumping but I don't know of any real shortcuts with it.  As for the Riding Gun, I use it every time, and I have a hell of a good tip for you that I learned through trial and error; To get the maximum firing rate from the explosive gun do the following- Start by pressing and holding the normal fire button, now once that button is held you can start mashing the shoulder button(machine gun fire) and you don't even have to do it very fast.  I learned this by trying to alternate both guns so I could hit both close targets and long range targets but instead I just found a rapid fire trick for the explosives..  Anyways there's few things to know about using the ride- 1) Most walking enemies are easier to scare by continuing to lumber forward or running over them if they try to shoot you than to stop and shoot back at them.  2) The machine guns(both medium black ones and short grey ones) are best dealt with by tossing explosives around the corner even before you know where you're shooting.  And 3) The heavy explosive guns are aiming based on how you move; Always run straight at them until you're about halfway to them then start backing up, if you stay far back they'll quickly adjust their aim to hit you.  After the first teleporter comes my first trick of the level, getting the War Blade early, without costing more than a few seconds;  Arm the Tek Bow with explosive arrows, walk up as close as you can arc the arrows from, and only pull the arrows back a little less than half way- Shoot all ten at the ledge if  you need to and then walk back to grab the Tek Bow pick up to get your ammo back.  With any luck the repeated explosions will blast the barrel on the other side of the wall and you can climb up the ladder to the War Blade then jump down to the other side without even lowering the bridge.  More to follow in a few minutes...
Next, on the Soul Gates(if you don't have the Falmethrower) you can use five explosive shells from the Shredder to destroy each, and you can pick up 3 explosive shells in the left shallow pool near the entrance to the underwater path you take to get the second key of the level.  In the graveyards use the Talon and the headhunter trick against the light zombies because the War Blade often cuts them in half and makes them even harder to kill, and against the heavy zombies I came up with a Tek Bow trick that can drop them really quick if you get enough practice; Get just a little outside of melee range, jump and tap the trigger to release an uncharged normal arrow, and with luck it will drop and hit them on top of their head for a one hit kill.  The main reasons I suggest this are as follows- First, you can make many attempts in a short period of time since they're uncharged arrows, and second you can pick up all your ammo after you're done.  After the first graveyard you can get an extra Ultra Health item, but it costs a pretty good chunk of time climbing so it may or may not be useful.. You know the way you can climb the ladders after you come back from the graveyard and it takes to where there's a small broken bridge and a Leap of Faith talisman pad?  You can walk a little ways up the bridge, turn around, and jump on one of the blocks on either side of your part of the bridge.  From the top of one of those blocks you can get enough height on your jump to make it across the other side, pick up the Ultra Health, then use the same trick to get back to the other side and take a few drops down to where you started climbing from.  I believe all the route planning can be gathered from the run that's already uploaded here.
Yeah there's definitely a few seconds savers with the swamp jumping trick.

A ton of good stuff as always !:P. I'm surprised you take the ceratops after my bad experiences lol. I'll bare those tricks in mind. I suppose the constant lumber forward trick makes it faster than Turok strafing speed. Otherwise Turok I believe to be faster, especially as you can constantly strafe on PC.

So collecting early warblade doesn't cost much time ? I recall not having any issues with room traversial without it. I strafe a hell of a lot avoiding enemies mostly, shooting troublesome ones with shotgun headshots. I wonder if It'd be easy to just wait for the warblade pickup on route in the underwater tunnel. But I'll have to test this either way to see what gives, with or without it early.

Nice trick on the zombies. I guess using arrows is a great way to save ammo for the bigger weapons. I doubt I'd stick around long enough to collect the arrows from them when there dead though. I'm after sheer speed with this run Tongue

Even though it's my favourite level I had difficulty recalling the areas you mentioned in your 2nd post lmao. I'll watch the current speed run of this level to get a better understanding of it and piece it all together.
Ah yes, you'll really need to see my run to find out how useful the War Blade can be.  So long as you time your headhunter trick right you can chop off an Endtrail's head and walk through them so fast that Turok doesn't even have to stop moving forward for the kill- This can effectively make most light enemy kills time cost free, so all you lose is health.  This is also great in the narrow halls of the Hive, and fairly good in the tunnels against the Blind Ones.
I can see how good it is. Especially if you can run through them with no delay. For sure I can see how useful it would be in the Hive. Even trying to charge dart those bastards you still get hurt most of the time so might as well War Blade them. I look forward to seeing it.
I'm actually wondering if it's possible for them to do a preview before it's verified, think I'll go ahead and ask ^.^
Oh, also in the current run they didn't bother to get the second Ultra Health- It really is time consuming to get so it would only be useful if you needed a lot of extra health going into the later parts of the level.
Is that the one after the third sister where you walk around the balcony ? I'd definitely skip that one
Wait a minute, after re-reading your last line about the Eye of Truth trick I must ask the following- How fast were you tapping jump after you ran into the end of the bridge?  If I remember correctly you'll only stick if you're both moving forward at full speed and very quickly tapping jump.  The result should be that you first get stuck hovering just above the ground, then you sort of fidget around a bit, and next you suddenly are up just a little under the bridge.  Oh, and in level 2 I think that balcony area was where the second Ultra Health was.
D'oh, okay I got confused about the level 2 thing, it's right near the entrance heading towards the first graveyard- heading right goes to the graveyard teleporter, heading left goes to a ladder which leads towards the second Ultra Health.
I didn't really try it that much to be honest. All I did was jump and got myself floating for a split second a few times. I'll try that again today.

The ultra health - I think I know the one you mean. in a room where you have to hit a high up switch but if you grab the ultra health a few jumpy little apes come and attack you and they have to be killed to unlock the door. Or maybe it's the switch that locks the door. damn I can't remember ?
Ah to hell with it, it probably takes too long in any event ^o^;
Well I think with some more practice I can get the eye of truth jump. I've managed to get stuck several times, and on just a few occasions I was able to jump another 3 or so times. The first jump off the talisman pad is very finicky for me. maybe I'm not lined up properly but I'm sure I'm jumping off as far as possible. I press and hold jump just as Turok begins to descend from the fall seems to make it somewhat more consistent.
I did it, made it over there for the first time. God damn it's hard, took me about 150 attempts. I can get stuck nearly every single attempt due to lining myself up in the same place facing the exact same direction. The only trouble is once I'm stuck, it's knowing exactly what the glitch wants me to do to get over there successfully. I found it's essential to hold forward and right while doing the jump taps to keep yourself on the bridge. Otherwise he just jumps way out to the left and I have to run round and try again. Then when you get that big 'lift', you know your there and then you can just hold forward and start jumping, I think that's what I do. But yeah its' weird when it works how he just flies slowly to the other side, almost like he's taken a leap from the leap of faith talisman. But I guess it's just the arc of the bridge itself doing that. On a few occasions I was almost successful but fell just short of the other side. When I did get over there I was greeted by quite a few gunners :P. It's good that the important weapons like the flamethrower, firestorm cannon and the PFM layer are in the first cage as I don't need to walk far to get them. The scorpion launcher right out the way like you said. It sucks that you can't get it before the portal to this area as you can see it above the swamp. It seems the programmers made sure you couldn't make the jump from the ledge up the ladder as there's an invisible wall when you try to reach the other side. I even tried the swamp jumping trick I mentioned, but I can't tell if it's the height of the ledge preventing me from getting up or the invisible wall. I think the latter.

Anyway I just need to do some work on making it consistent after I'm stuck. Any visual hints and stuff like that.

Oh, right, I found an answer to get the Scorpion Launcher first but it's kind of unreliable- Don't climb the ladder near you, go to the end of the wall and swamp jump your way to the -log- rather than the ledge, then turn around and jump from the log to the ledge.  The problem here is that the log starts sinking right after you land on it and if you you're not obscenely fast at turning around and making the jump you'll still be too low and hit the invisible wall.  On the other hand if you didn't mind losing several more seconds you could jump from the floating log to the above water log and wait for the floating one to resurface.  On your way back you'll need to kill the gunner on top of the wall but the one near the cage doesn't spawn unless you climb the first ladder near the cages.  Also keep in mind that when you jump back to the area with the cages the game can sometimes block you with it's shitty clipping errors, so jump right for the middle and don't go for anything fancy like a diagonal jump.
Well I've come to the conclusion now that scorpion launcher is a bit pointless now to be honest. I don't need it for the rest of level 3 and I don't need it for level 2. It seems it's too far out the way to get and would cost me time in the long run. Plus you get it on level 5 anyway that comes after level 2. I managed to do the eye of truth jump 3 more times just now but It's still finicky though. If it's only going to speed up the totem a little bit with flamethrower or charge dart - headhunter I'm not sure it's worth it. Considering gunners can be killed really quickly with pistol head shots which auto aim so very conveniently aims for. It's better than mag 60 imo and saves ammo. I also think at least one soul gate can be destroyed with explosive shells as I'm sure there's enough ammo on the way. It can be destroyed before the first undead pops up as well just like flamethrower. PFM layer is gotten on level 5 I'm sure there's one or two on route and level 4/blind one boss is dealt with after level 5 anyway. I have a grenade launcher also for the sisters. It just seems I can counter the time lost from the eye of truth jump with stuff I already have...
Ah, I never thought about it that way.  Thanks for the info.

I'm very close to finishing level 3 and it is really optimal. I just got 28:21 at the Hub. So that means the level is 14 minutes long for me on average since my time after level 1 is also 14 minutes. 14 +14 is 28. But it had one pretty bad mistake, plus some problems doing the spin jump to collect overhead items. I think I can just about sub 28 at the Hub. I found a huge time saver using swamp jumping. Instead of climbing the small tower to get the 2nd satchel charge just jump across the swamp to the piece of ground where it is. You can then turn around and do a few swamp jumps back to the wooden walkway and then swamp jump to the tower to the 2nd armory. There's also another one that's very risky. When exiting the 2nd armory go left and jump off the edge and do about 4 swamp jumps to the floating logs. It is a good time saver but is very risky and I've died a few times trying it but I'm going to do it on my best attempt. But anyway I'm looking forward to completing this level because all these glitchy tricks with their finicky nature annoys me a lot in speed running.

Lastly, do you think it's worth getting the Plasma beam on the top of the tower when you pass it ?. I've recently stopped picking it up to save a few seconds and so I can bypass the Juggernaut that pops out the wall. I can't see myself needing plasma beam on level two and I don't need it for the rest of level 3. I get it on level 5 anyway I think.

[edit] Just got 27:48 and I'm going to keep this one actually due mostly to frustration. trying to get all my optimsations to come together was for some reason not doing so (I swear this game hates me). I died on one of my swamp jumps but i didnt lose much time because a portal was nearbye. I got all overhead items on first try, same with the eagle feather shortcut. I messed up killing a raptor at the end which is one of those areas I usually clean up perfectly. also my totem went a bit awry. I had this really good strategy to stand on the top of the slope and jump and shoot the pistol into the buildings to get the gunners heads. sometimes its extremely effective and you can complete the mission in no time. But this occasion didn't quite work so well with dead gunners laying in the way and some gunners running down and past me to the totem which slowed the rate of gunners coming out the building. It wasn't completely crap though. The level could have been done with perhaps a very low 27 but this will do I suppose
