Yeah, too bad this doesn't work for PC games.

I'd gladly donate £5 or so via a Steam gift to have some of their shittier games ran. Cheesy

It's not quite the same as sending each other carts, but I think it's close enough.
Exoray
I actually own two genesis games that I can't play (wrong region) that I'd be happy to give away for runs, problem I guess would be finding someone that would be able to supply me with a PAL copy of a game Smiley

If we're limiting it to the older era, I have a SNES (PAL), a Genesis (PAL) and a Gameboy.

Man, Plok is an awesome game...I thought someone was working on a run a while back.

At any rate, I might consider joining in on this. I own some pretty terrible games that I wouldn't mind parting with.

If the point of the exchange is to generate a speedrun, then it should be of a game that SDA accepts. Both of those should be automatically excluded.
SEGA Junkie
I might just give this a shot.

Systems I can speedrun on: Megadrive, N64, GBA, GC, Wii, 360

Don't worry about a backloggery for me, I have so few games (and all of them pretty firmly in the mainstream) that whatever you pick for me I almost certainly don't have it.

The one kicker, though, is that you'll need to get me PAL stuff, for obvious reasons.

    * The server seems to have reached capacity so I've temporarily closed site registration to help ensure there isn't even more downtime than we're already experiencing. Registration will return in a limited capacity (probably some sort of invitation system) after the site remake is launched.
    * Work on the remake itself will resume in about a month, after I recover from arm surgery.

Still can't register at this time.  If you try to click 'Register' you get redirected to the changelog and this update.

mobygames has a have list you can make, but it's limited to only games in their database.

You could also just make a list on the wiki on your user page. Another option is to have a private thread with everyone participating and list games there. I'm sure there's other options as well.

Obviously, but better safe than sorry.  Probably my least favorite genre.

I am really impressed by the number of people who are willing to do this.  Go go go!  ^_^

Also, can I ban some games from being chosen?  There are a few really horrible games I plan to run in the future, so they are obviously in danger of being selected.  Lagoon (SNES) and Batman Forever (SNES) are the culprits.  Choose them if you must, but I'd much prefer to run them.  Wink
Waiting hurts my soul...
I was also considering Lagoon sometime in the future for myself, but who knows when I'll get around to it. Good to know you'll be taking it up.

As I mentioned, I am also considering running at least three different junk games.  However, I could care less if someone beats me to one of them.

By the way, shouldn't this thread be in the trading post?
I might need to get in on this. I'll be a little picky though...

GB, GBC, N64
No racing, RPGs, FPSs, or fighting games

It's time for some HEErooooOOOOHi cs!
I will so get in on this, anything obscure for the NES, SNES, N64, or PS2 seems up my alley, but I have pretty much any system and am capable of recording most of them except the genesis. I have a particular mystery NES game for someone to run that is sure to be great fun.

Here's my backloggery: http://www.backloggery.com/main.php?user=ultrajman

I would prefer platformers or run n guns if possible.

JMan is in?  Shit just got real.

Forgot to post my backloggery, too:

spread the dirt to the populace
Hmm, I actually want to run most of the bad games I own.  However, I do have a good one for the Famicom I'd be willing to hand to someone...
It's time for some HEErooooOOOOHi cs!
I just bought something amazing, is it possible to enter twice? Cause I want to spread the love of "great" games twice, even if I suffer twice over for it it'll be so worth it.
Is PJ
That's entirely up to you, I guess.  I mean, you have to speed run whatever game you're sent, so you'd just have to plan two games simultaneously.  I plan to continue entering this, but only after I finish whatever the current game is.  ^_^

So, are we supposed to keep the game we've chosen a secret?  If secrecy is not mandatory, I don't see the need for a backloggery.  Once my exchange-partner is determined (however that is), couldn't I just list ten games I would consider sending them, and they can tell me which of those games they already have?

If it is supposed to be a complete secret, then I guess I'll just type up my backlog and attach as a word document (rather not mess with backloggery.com).
Is PJ
It's completely up to you.  If you want to surprise them completely, the backloggery helps.  If not, you can send them a list as you've said.  Nothing is 'mandatory' about this, except that you have to speed run whatever you're given.  Everything else is up to you, including when to start.  If people want to get started, you can just choose a partner and swap addresses and get to it!  ^_^

Or I guess if you all want it to be a bit more random, some third party could randomly assign partners.

It's time for some HEErooooOOOOHi cs!
I'm already set on one game to send for when we start exchanging, waiting on the other to arrive by mail, but i like the choose a partner idea, that way everyone gets matched with compatible systems and we don't end up with a jumble of people trying to switch partners and whatnot.
welcome to the machine
You know what?  I'll sign up for this shit.  I have the perfect game picked out.  Still need to actually beat it, but that should be pretty quick.  It's a Genesis game, shorter than 30 minutes.

http://www.backloggery.com/main.php?user=vorpaledge

Systems available: SNES, Genesis, GCN (+gb/c/a via gameboy player), PS/2.  Restrictions: I'm not PJ, so don't send me something that will make me want to kill myself. :p  I'd also really like for the length of whatever I get sent to be under 30 minutes or so.  Finally, I probably won't get to it until after the marathon... but other than that, have at it.

The rules said that while older consoles are preferred, newer consoles can still work.  With that in mind, I'd like to make a request for a newer console game, including PSX, PS2, PS3, GC, Wii, Xbox 360, or Xbox-which-is-covered-by-the-backwards-compatibility-patches.  Also, I am totally open to clever exchanges involving, say, gifts across Wii Shop or Microsoft Point Cards with instructions to purchase some game with it on Xbox Live, again assuming the games involved are crappy titles that otherwise meet the criteria of this whole enterprise.  [As stated before, no RPG's or racers]

I own many older consoles, but they're currently being kept across the country, and the only one of those I could even get delivered in the next few months would be the Genesis, but my brother does not like to part with it.

I can still send an older console game, if my partner wants.  But, assuming the exchange is permanent that might be kind of a rip off.  We could either return the games or my partner could just look for real bargain buys.

I can still do something older if the potential partner list solidifies and no one is interested in sending a newer console game that fits the criteria.  Oh, that's another thing.  Because I'm asking for something newer, I understand if the speedrun might need to be a little longer than an older game.  Let's say the limit is: not expected to exceed 90 minutes, and the lower the better.

Is there anyone with a game they can think of that would fit into what I described?  If so, would you be willing to send it?  Tell me what rules you have on your end, and maybe we can get an exchange going.

Btw, Mike, this thread may need an organized table (similar to the bounty thread perhaps) at the beginning with hide-able rules for each runner.  Maybe someone could take over the first post and arrange something like that, to help with the exchange process.
