I'd like to see an updated list of runs on the front page if possible. As well, I'm curious to know now which SDA runs are faster than what is seen at nicovideo. It seems like a lagre portion of the speedruns posted initially have been beaten just because they were listed here, which is fantastic. Smiley
This has been posted in the Final Fantasy X thread but I dont see it here yet.

Final Fantasy X RTA in 11:39 (11:19 in SDA timing) (New Game, not New Game +)

Super Mario Galaxy 61-Star in 2:48:47, as Mario.  By 紺空 ("konkara"? not sure).
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm14722154

Compared to my timing method for Luigi, this run has 5:16 extra at the beginning and about 0:09 extra at the end.  So by Luigi's timing, this would be about 2:43:22.  And again, this runner did it as Mario!  I'll have to watch this soon.

Also see this person's community page:
http://com.nicovideo.jp/community/co392367
The runner says they got 2:47:42 at one point (2:42:17 by SDA Luigi timing - for reference, at JRDQ I got something like 2:39-2:40).
Also some other interesting times to see for many other games.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 71-Star in 3:27:50, also by 紺空.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm13485757

Other Galaxy 2 times/runs:
http://www40.atwiki.jp/niconamarta/pages/182.html
Includes 6:51:35 120-star and 10:31:23 242-star (also by 紺空)!  But no videos for those, I think.
紺空("konkuu") is achieved those records in streams so no recording Sad

This announces the streams as pop-up (default setting is bottom-right) which you followed the community.

Hello, noob posting here.

Is this the only thread relating to Niconico on this forum? There are several TAS times which beat the records listed here, like the low % segmented runs of LoZ: OoT in 48 mins 27 secs (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11786255) and LoZ: MM in 1 hour 29 mins 57 secs (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12938048). Are these not considered because they're simply not known or they don't conform to the guidelines here?

I'm also curious as to whether there's been any actual communication between the speedrunners and the posters here. I'm sure the speedrunners would want their work watched in the international community.

Can help with translating Japanese if needed, give me a pm.

Let the music play!
If you want to post TAS videos, I'd recommend going to... TASvideos!. This thread is for realtime speedruns, to be fair

this thread will never be actively updated to include new runs because that's just too ridiculous an undertaking. people who are particularly interested in japanese speedrunning activity can check the wiki and do all that fun google translation stuff themselves. i do have to finish writing stuff in the OP though

edit: to clarify, i guess people are of course free to post runs of interest here in the thread body, but i'm not going to add new runs to the topic post ever

I assume you mean between "American/European" and "Japanese" speedrunners ?

From my point of view, it's very easy for a Japanese speedrunner to get in contact with Americans/Europeans. There are a few Japanese speedrunners submitting runs to sda and a few who post in the forum, but it seems to be just a fraction of what it could be.

It's however not evident for Americans/Europeans to get in touch with Japanese speedrunners. I'm not aware of any "Japanese sda" type of site (except nico, which to me is quite different from sda) nor forums where you can discuss strategies and so on. If there are forums for Japanese speedrunners, I'd definitely like to take a look and try to interact for games I'm familiar with.

So if you're good at Japanese and can figure out things about the Japanese speedrunning community, feel free to post here.

I don't know if someone upload video to nico but...
Nicovideo has been changed bit rate limit of low quality mode. (This mode occurs in certain period of time for normal account user)
Before was 312 kbps (video+audio) and 445(.8?) kbps now. (This is same for normal and premium)
Size limitation is still same (Normal for 40MB, Premium for 100MB per 1 video)

EDIT: I forgot to mention resolution limit. 1280x720 is max for normal. No limit for Premium. If normal user encodes exceed limit, nico server will re-encode it.
EDIT2: Now Normal user can use html tags in video description. You can use <br>,<b>,<i>,<s>,<u>,<font color>,<font size>.

related more nico thing.

This site tracks sm64 records especially nicolives'. The RTA wiki tracks only a few sm64 records and you want to see sm64 records, you'd better see here.
