The Fast Force Marathon - Game Submissions

Okay, so I have gotten together a group of speedrunners/racers, most of which are people from the /r/speedrun subreddit, and we are wanting to try our hand at doing our own little marathon. We are doing this mostly for fun but we are hoping to have a good turnout and someone from Reddit recommended that I post about it on the SDA forums.

We will need all the help we can get because planning a marathon if hard work. We are hoping to have this planned and organized within a month, but we realize that all good things take time and patience. Tongue

I've submitted mine already via reddit, but just thought I'd mention that I am excited to be a part of this marathon whether or not my run is accepted. Not sure exactly what you would need extra help with, but I'm more than interested if you need any assistance planning. Just let me know what kind of work you need help with. Otherwise, I'll contribute by watching the marathon when it happens Smiley

The deadline for submissions is 5/10/2014, we won't be accepting any more submissions after that date. But right now we have over 80 submissions, over 60 names, and over 100 hours of possible content for the marathon. Thanks to everyone who has been submitting runs so far and if anyone else wants to help out in any way, let me know. Smiley

Icedpingu, this is my first time trying to organize anything like this so I am going to need help with planning, scheduling, contacting people, re-streaming, a layout for the restream (which someone already volunteered to help with!), commentating, and anything else anyone can think of that might help. We are discussing things related to the marathon quite frequently in our skype group. Add omgfierce on skype if you want added to the skype group. We also have #FastForce on the SRL IRC and a teamspeak server as well.

Okay, so we went through and made the initial cuts and we have narrowed the list down, these are the games that we have said yes or maybe to for the marathon and we have contacted all the people on there. The list is here: http://bombch.us/irb

If your game is one of the ones that was selected, plus put your availability and other contact info here on the tab that says availability: http://bombch.us/irD and we are going to be making the schedule and posting it soon.

This marathon will be held June 6th through the 8th. The marathon will be streamed to www.twitch.tv/thefastforce and we will be taking donations to donate during SGDQ to Doctor Without Borders. We hope to see you all there for the marathon!

Sorry corbak but we had already received soooo many entries, we ended up turning down over 50 hours worth of games and we still ended up with well over 71 hours worth of submissions that we kept. Also this was posted on reddit a while before it was on SDA, I didn't put it on SDA until someone recommended it. But we are still looking for people to help out with the marathon, restream, do commentary, read donation messages, hang out in the teamspeak with us during the marathon and help bring viewers, etc. If anyone wants to help with any of that please let me know. Smiley

If you want to join the skype group for The Fast Force, just add omgfierce and I'll put you in. If this marathon turns out good we will definitely be doing more in the future because a lot of people are really excited for this and hype about it. Smiley

Because right now we are doing the 2nd set of cuts from the marathon, basically anyone who doesn't get in contact with me or put their contact info/availability on the google document soon-ish, is getting taken out and then we will need back up s and probably have room for more runs.

Yes I was contacted, but I put a late submission in of Fable 3, and I didn't know if my game was Halo 3 and Fable 3
Can you confirm that Fable 3 is in or out?

We have narrowed it down more and lost some more participants so we might indeed have room. I will keep you posted. We went from an estimated 71 hours 54 minutes to 64 hours 21 minutes.

PJ, we have been described as a friendly community that helps introduce people to SRL and the racing/speedrun scene. We help people with setting up streams, registering on SRL, etc. We do a lot of blind races/races and we organize them mostly in our skype group and talk on our teamspeak server. We are listed in the sidebar on the /r/speedrun subreddit. We currently have over 80 runners in our skype group. Our website is www.thefastforce.enjin.com and our teamspeak has tutorials and stuff. People in the group wanted to try to do a marathon so we are working hard on that and currently have a bunch of people in the teamspeak discussing scheduling.
