You shall make your way through a lot of yellow blocks which can only be destroyed using a powerup, but good like to make it anyway :P.
How many attempts did that take?
wise fwom yo gwave
you think he bothered counting?
Wow...that's all I can say.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
That was amazing. Wow. I thought I was decent for getting a 258 YI-3.. and hereyou get a 259. And that was a minor point in the run.

Amazing.
Long live SF64!
That was one of the greatest bits of gaming I've seen yet!  I love it!

I followed the topic earlier on, but some of the tricks didn't make sense until I saw them on the video - this run is a brilliant display of how to creatively apply everything we know about playing Mario to accomplish the objective at hand.

Great Work... I'll be sharing that link a bunch in the next few days...
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I finish this game in 8'47 but it's on the GBA version and I want to know if my record is good if I download Super Mario World on Virtual Console ?

I'm French so sorry if my english is not perfect ^^
I thought the run was great!  The shell jumps were amazing!  I understand how you think that the run is not perfect, but what you pull off is so cool and, like you say, a 'perfect' run could take quite a long time to make.  I was simply amazed how well you pulled off the shell kick/jumps, I had no idea you could kick a spring and then jump off it in mid air, wow.

I encourage you to submit, it is too good to not IMO.  I had been following the thread for a while, waiting for a preview of a possible submission, and am totally in awe of what I have now seen.  Thank you for sharing!

Jimsfriend may be off for a couple of months;  He's informed me that he's quite certain he won't submit the run.

In other news, if you are yearning for more crazy jimsfriend SMW action, feel free to enjoy his TAS of Super Demos World.

I have no doubt that it should be published soon, and an avi made.

I dunno how to patch games, so will wait for avi.

Do you mean that he won't submit his current attempt, but will still try again later?  Or is he putting that project on hold indefinitely?

If it's the latter, then that's too bad.  I admire his personal quality control, but it's a shame that a run that most people would be amazed at won't be hosted here.  He could always submit it as a placeholder until later, mentioning in his comments that he wants to do better.

But, hey, it's his decision.  I respect it.

I'm not too sure if he'll pick up this run.  I should let him speak for himself, but I'll report what I think his opinion is.  So don't take this with a grain of salt.

I believe that his small console run is put on hold indefinitely.  He hasn't ruled out improving it completely, but it's quite low on his priority list.

Edit: Did you ever watch the run?
Yeah, I watched it.  Amazing.
MY EYES ARE BLEEDING.

Most impressive run I've seen. (I don't say it's the greatest, but it is for me). SDA needs that in their archives.
Hi! I'm andrewg!
Today was the first time I watched this run. I am very amazed by it.

That was a VERY well thought out run. Insane... I'm suprised he wont submit it, but I understand why he doesn't. I'm sure if he submits a new run It will be even more fantastic.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I made a Speedrun of a level
perfect i think

Nothing too special Kodo=P. I see you are playing with PAL, or else you would have got 360 in the end.

Why would i have 360 if i had NTSC?
I'm not 100% sure of how the speed in Super Mario World works between NTSC and PAL. But this is my guess:
The ingame timer in PAL is running faster than in NTSC. But Mario's speed isn't reduced as much, some things are actually faster in PAL than in NTSC.
So it's very easy to see if a lvl is made in PAL or NTSC.

Better quality version of the run.  Thanks to [glb]JXQ[/glb] for uploading the run to google video first, and now to archive.org!

A 361 on YI2 is VERY possible on NTSC.  SkamastaG has gotten it on more than one occasion.  You just have to do the hop glitch for a while.  I'll let him fill you in on the details.

If the hop glitch is done perfectly on YI2 PAL, I would guess and say that 364 is possible.  But then again I have no idea how PAL keeps Mario's speed.

Some experimentation has done in terms of TASing on the PAL ROM, but all lot of the NTSC physics that we are so used to are hard to decipher in PAL (such as oscillating running speed).
Just saw the run...

Holy cow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And about the improvisations, ha!
They've made the run even better.

Congratulation dude!!!!!!!!!!
Since this is the Super Mario World small topic, I figured I'd say that the TAS myself and skamastaG have been working on of every SMW level small has been completed.  The route it takes is the exact same as jimsfriends up until Star World 4, at which point it goes on to beat all the other levels small.  We've been working on the run for more than 9 months and I think the quality speaks for itself.  Wink

Long live SF64!
Is there any chance an AVI video can be made of that?  I realize that's a tall order for such a long video, but finding the correct ROM is a pain for those who don't know where to look.

The comments are outstanding - Now I just can't wait to see the TAS!
Looks like there will probably be an official AVI soon Smiley

About Jimsfriend's run, it is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen.  All in a SS.

My god... Jimsfriend's run is insane. Words can't describe how awesome that run is, so this will have to suffice. Shocked
