Toy Time Galaxy "Heavy Metal Mecha-Bowser" speed trick.  This should save at least 15 seconds.

Nice

Y'a donc ben des mongols
Nice toy time shortcut Smiley

Btw look at these two glitches:

They were both done by long jumping into space... For planets like that, it's totally useless.. But I'm wondering if it'd be possible to accomplish them on some levels like the 2nd star in good egg galaxy. (You know how you start at the top of the huge.. glass tube thingy?), if you could somehow clip through that wall you'd get the star really fast
woot, sequence break! probably saves a couple minutes.

Good job. Look a bit too difficult to do Single Segment, but otherwise, it should save at least a minute.

Shocked Awesome

I was playing around in space junk galaxy trying to do the glitch to get me stuck in the planet(with no luck :() but I did find a cool trick.I was jumping off of the mushrooms and after a long time of jumping and getting nothing, I did a long jump off of the bottom of a mushroom(can't remember which one)and escaped the planets gravity and went straight to the green-blue cylinder thing, skipping the pull star.I was also jumping around the cylinder planet and was able to get back to the mushrooms, which is normaly impossible. If its possible to replicate the pull star skip (Which I have yet to do)then it could save a few seconds.

I tried it with Mario. Although, I can't seem to jump as high as needed in the 0:15 jump  Sad

EDIT: Oh, I saw your reply on YouTube.. Well, then it must be me being unskilled ^^

I'll try to do it with Mario later.

Yeah, just noticed.. Well, then it must be my lack of skill :/. Is it as I think:
Backflip+Spin+Walljump?

Awesome, I'm glad to see you got this to work! I was messing around with it last night (using Mario), and I just don't think he can get the distance necessary to make it across (I'll be very happy to be proved wrong, though ;)). It would be a piece of cake if you could get on the tree with the bee suit, but this also seems impossible due to Bee Mario's complete lack of special jumps. Bee suit is great for distances, not so much for height :-/
Notice in the vid I did a double jump off the tree. AFAIK that's necessary to make it onto the other tree thanks to the added height. There was a previous attempt where I actually made it on top of the tree without having to wall jump and fell off because Luigi wasn't sliding the right way; if you were that good you might be able to get enough distance as Mario.

Also there was one point where I somehow managed to backflip while sliding on the tree. I have no idea how I did it and haven't been able to reproduce it; if you could it might be easier.

Yeah, I noticed that, and I hadn't tried it before myself... so you're right, it may allow Mario to make it as well.

A couple new videos:
When it Rains, it Pours
New method for climbing the tower, courtesy of Ouranos21's Cosmic Mario trick. Thank you Nintendo for making the camera uncontrollable in that area for no reason. I love making blind jumps.

Through the Meteor Storm
A cute little shortcut I found.

EDIT: I tried doing the Honeyhive skip with Mario a few more times, but I can never get the timing right on the double jump... the camera switch always throws me off.
Spring Mario is skippable in toy time galaxy, for the first star (mecha bowser or whatever) at least. It's tricky, and a lot easier with two players, but it's possible. This saves time if pulled off quickly (which is pretty much impossible). There's one place on star 2 (or was it 3?) that can almost be reached with a triple jump + spin. It should be possible with Luigi, and maybe Mario, but I doubt it saves time.

Just tried Mecha Bowser without spring. And it really wasn't too hard. And this was my first time trying, I didn't even know where to go sometimes so ^^. Well, if you know what your'e doing, this is propably easy and will save time  Smiley
Welcome new Galaxy!
Just did it again, with timing. Not too accurate time but what I got was:
2:35. And that was with tons of mistakes, even 10-second ones. The glass dome with the forks and stuff took me way too long ^^. So this can probably be done in 1:30 or something ^^. Or at least 2 mins

I am new here and maybe you guys already know this.

On Deep Dark Galaxy, if you use the canon and aim a little above the first block on the far left that goes up an down. Shoot before the block starts going down and you should land on the block or hit the other block, skipping the fire flower.
Also good for the second star since you're skipping a little of the platform jumping before the yellow blocks.

Yeah, that's known. But Welcome, and nice find anyway!  Grin
What the heck is the trigger fore the speedster (red) comet to appear?  Here's what I've cleared so far in the playthrough (with Luigi):

-most of the 1-3 worlds
-about 3/4 of the "feed me star bits" lumas
-various purple (which means I've beaten the game the first time), white/grey, and blue comets.
-88 stars.

I'm just baffled as to why red comets haven't appeared yet.
I assume they are (just as every other comet except the purple ones) random, after you get a regular star, a comet appears. You do sucessfully the comet star and all comets disappear. As soon you get another regular star some random comets appear again.
That's what I've noticed on my runs (2x 242stars and there I've stopped). But you can also do a "already-collected" star to make the comets appear

Does this fact make a 120 SS run impossible or very unlikely. due to the randomness of the comets (or is there always at least one new star to obtain at all times)

Also will a 120 SS run even be counted as a true SS as you have to go back to the title screen to continue after defeating boswer (in order to do the purple comets.)

Guess a 241 SS speed run is never going to be seen Sad
A 242 star run is a terrible idea, considering the last 121 stars are exactly the same as the first 121. It's a second playthrough, not the second half of the game.

Y?
Its not like its exactly the same there are short cuts that people will be more likely to try with luigi, plus the game is not that linear, you could chose (maybe be forced to, due to comets) a different path through the game.

Keep in mind that you can always force comets to spawn by feeding the Luma near the Terrace, but I guess that depends on how much of an excess of star bits you have. I think ensuring you have enough star bits to feed all the hungry lumas will be one of the bigger problems for a 120 star run.

Yea thats what i was thinking would be the biggest problem in 120 star runs.

Will runs that take advantage of co-op mood be placed in a separate category? (think this has been discussed before)

which is why Luigi should be a seperate category. It's stupid to have two playthroughs in one speed run.

Yes maybe he should, but in order to get the best ending you have to complete it with luigi.
You cant call something a 100% run if you only do the last 50%
