In the first Baby Bowser level (can't remember the name) you can use the Thwomp at the beginning to get on top of the castle wall, and from the castle wall you can long jump + spin and skip straight to the second portion of the level.

Those are some really nice videos. I may touch up my own Think Before You Shake run, but there are a bunch of stars that have no speed runs yet, so I'll probably go for those before I come back to the stuff I've already done.

I only have one new one to share, and it's of the final Bowser level, so caution is advised, because you'll see the ending and a glimmer of the 120 star spoiler.

07:47.15 - Bowser's Fortified Fortress (Bowser's Galaxy Generator) + Credits

Trick for clockwork ruins 1st star after the first launch star: Get to the ledge near the cadged luma, backflip and walljump off the platform you come near to get to a ledge on the far left with a 1-up in the back.  From there, get very close to the edge and backflip away from the wall, spin, get close to the wall and walljump, hold right and spin again to reach the above platform and hit the gravity switch.

I have 117 stars and I'll probably start doing some ILs once I finish the game 100%.  This game is amazingly awesome.
Finished with 71 stars in 11:36:06. I've found a few tricks and shortcuts but I'll keep them to myself for the time being, I'm hoping to make another big compilation video of various tricks like I did with SMG1 if I can find enough stuff. Tongue Nothing huge or groundbreaking anyway. Next up, 100%...

Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
A nice timesaver in Shiverburn Galaxy: After getting the cloud mushroom, you can long jump to the right to get to the other side of the U-shaped lava platform without freezing it. Later, when you fight the five fruit-shooting guys, you can just jump past them.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
I'm currently getting the green stars. Some of them are in great hiding places, but others are stupid, like the ones that are a few feet away from the regular stars. An obvious timesaver for a 100% run is to make sure to select the same stars as many times as possible when getting the green stars. So, if you can get green stars 1, 2, and 3 by selecting green star 1, then you should select green star 1 each time to skip the intro cutscenes twice.

EDIT: Here's a nice trick on Bowser's Galaxy Generator. After you leave the planetoid with the drill and the big Bullet Bills, you'll see some moving platforms that go up. Ride one all the way around the cylinder, then, just before you hit the lava above you, long jump to the right to get to a narrow passageway that will take you straight to launch star.

Hehe, Manocheese, I found that one before I saw your post Cheesy

There is also about a 5 second (?) Time saver or more (probably more) On Cloud Court Galaxy - Head in the clouds. When you get to the part where there is a drum and a cymbal, you can grab the cloud shroom, and jump all the way to the next planet so that you don't have to use the drums to get to the star to get to that planet. There is also a nice time saver at the end. You can backflip and use a cloud to get high enough so that you don't have to wait for the walls to close in, go back out, then get the star.

Example, my speedrun video -

Pretty tough to get under 1:30 for this. I somehow managed to do it.
Now a hit show on the CW
This isn't beneficial for speed runs, but I found a fun little "glitch". The teleporters found throughout the game that take you to timed enemy killing minigames are physical locations in that world map, just usually too distant to reach by any method other than the teleporter. So far, the only exception I've found is Throwback Galaxy. If you get to a high enough vantage point and look around in first person view, you should be able to see the teleporter destination off of one of the corners of the main part of the map. With the cloud power-up, you can cross that gap and reach the island without the teleporter. The only problem is that you'll be unable to get back, as you have to exhaust all of your cloud power to get there. You can still kill the enemies for the extra lives though (without a timer).

I can't wait to see a speed run of Rainbow Road Roll Smiley
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Well, I finished the game 100%. Here's the nature of the last stars, for those wondering.

*SPOILERS*
When you get 120 stars and beat Bowser again, green comets appear in every level. There is one green star for each gold star in any given level. Once you have 240 stars, Grandmaster Galaxy appears. Once you have the first star and the comet coin from there and you have 9999 star bits in the bank (I think that's the trigger, anyway), the final star appears.

In bowsers galaxy generator, if you get the 6 health mushroom at the top of the pole at the beginning, you can skip the hammer bros fight and flower by jumping through the lava and just barely make it onto the drill platform.  Not sure how much time this saves, if any, since the mushroom does take a few seconds to get.

You don't need the mushroom, just hit the side of the lava and you'll move far faster.

When I read that I thought you thought I meant something else and I thought that would never work but I tried it and mind = blown.

Also in BGG, for the bullet bill part after drilling, I think its faster to get hit by lava twice and land on the 1-up platform then jump to the launch star instead of going over the bullet bill platform like LinksDarkArrows did.

Flutter jump glitch can get green star 2 in BGG pretty fast.

Flutter kick can almost skip the dash pepper part of BGG.  Useless if it is possible since its 10x longer than the normal way but I thought it was cool.
is anyone opposed to me using a few tricks posted in this thread in the video I'm working on? just asking because I'm not sure how much people actually care about that sort of thing and don't want to step on any toes by accident. Would credit of course.

00:46.30 - Think Before You Shake

If you do a spin and then a long jump immediatly after (the timing is a little tricky), the platforms will switch and you wont lose any time spinning in the air. I'm pretty sure this would speed up the level. Would be great if someone could test it. Smiley

You can also spin and normal jump/backflip at the same time, could be useful somewhere.

Mr. TTom >

There are a lot of things I overlooked in Think Before You Shake the first time. I think the reason for that is because I was more concerned about finding something that worked with the electric fence things.

Paraxade >

Feel free to use anything of mine. Sharing the information we've all found as a whole will increase overall productivity.

Only one new run to share with you guys today. I could have a lot more, but I've been a bit lazy with it.

01:25.10 - Hot-Stepping Dash Pepper (Hightail Falls Galaxy)

Wow epic jump at 1:10 lol. There's a much faster strat for the ending though, get the last dash pepper and then run up the slope and jump off to the left at the star. I think mwl posted you could do a flutter jump + dismount off Yoshi too.
I haz Penguin
Sheesh, I finally overcame speed running the shiverburn mission, "Prince Pikante's Peppery Mood." I used both strats

1. Skip the fire U-turn
2. Skip fighting the five(?) Enemys near the end by jumping in the lava.
Here it is -

The boss got so annoying T_T.
I also got a 42.91 for Think Before You Shake! But I wasn't recording =/.

You can use my stuff.

Not too far into the game yet.  Seems obvious but you can skip the key and a small cutscene in "Exploring the Cosmic Cavern".

edit: Decided to delete. It was already found.

Here's some useful stuff from Galaxy that might work in Galaxy 2:

Here's some new stuff. Not as cool as some of the stuff I've uploaded already, but they have their moments.

02:09.53 - Where the Chomps Are Made of Gold (Chompworks Galaxy)

02:25.13 - Rock and Rollodillo (Boulder Bowl Galaxy)

---

The chain chomp one wasn't all that bad. It's just really boring to play and watch. Rock and Rollodillo had one problem with a temporarily missing octopus. The remaining 4 (or so) may be able to be attacked by a single wide swing boulder, but I really hate doing that part, so someone else can try before I regain my motivation for this level.

It is possible to jump from the top drum (with goomba on) over to the area you are on at 1:00, to do this you need to get 3 clouds.

I managed to get 1:27.5 doing this quite easily however most of that could just be from other small timesavers so I am not sure if it is that much faster.

Trick in flipsville star 1.  After the first launch star, you'll be at a place with a chain chomp rolling toward you and a white fence behind you.  You can jump over the fence to land on a very tiny piece of land behind it.  From there, do a slightly angled long jump down right, spin, try to wall jump from the other side of the wall you just passed and hopefully land on land.  You might need an extra wall jump if the first one doesn't get enough height.  You can probably do it without landing behind the fence but I haven't been able to do that yet.

Edit: Just did it without jumping on the other side of the fence.  You just need to start the long jump farther back and more angled.

Another flipsville trick.  After the 2nd launch star you can triple jump + spin + walljump to jump over the house.

Edit: Bleh just realized these are old :(.

Huge time saver in shiverburn galaxy!

It will probably take off 15-20 seconds of my speedrun that I did
From the beginning of the level you can grab the cloud mushroom, go back to the start, and jump all the way to the next world right where the shooting star is.

Video of it being done is here -

Decided to do a wing-it  70(1) star run today, because I got off of school early because school is out for the summer yay Cheesy

I did pretty well for my first try ever, and not planning it out. My overall time was 5:38:03.

It's not even funny how many times I died, especially in the second bowser jr. I failed way too many times
For some reason it seems that I am better at doing the stars in worlds 5 and 6 better than I am at doing them in 2, 3, and 4.

Next time I will plan/write all of the stars I will get, and I will share them here.
O_o
Even more new stuff. ^_^

[1] 01:49.93 - Search for the Toad Brigade Captain (Fluffy Bluff Galaxy)

[2] 01:58.30 - The Magnificent Magma Sea (Melty Monster Galaxy)

[3] 01:48.83 - Silver Chomp Grudge Match (Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy)

[4] 00:41.51 - To the Top of Topman's Tower (Space Storm Galaxy)

-----

[1] NOW I know text can be scrolled through faster. This is something I should have already looked into, so I feel a lot of shame for not thinking about it before starting this run.

[2] Don't get me wrong, I like this stage, and the lava monsters are extremely adorable, but this is not a fun speed run level. Only done because it was a request, and the result is sloppy. Use it only as a base.

[3] Not much to say here. The rolling levels are fun and I wanted to play one.

[4] With one small mistake near the end, this is probably the best in the batch.

I did try out one of the Galaxy 1 speed run tricks posted earlier. The lag cancel when you jump upon impact with a planet can still be done, but I haven't memorized the timing yet. I'll do my best to use this in my future runs as soon as I'm good at it.
