I timed my mistakes in Virtualdub and subtracted them from the overall time. Could've been 8:27.4, but the vcr still adds 1.2 sec, so actually a low 8:26 is possible if I record digitally.
Cak this run was just insane. The Birdo hop in 6-1 was totally bogus. Everything about the run otherwise was just so clean. You've done an incredible job hitting so many tricks and this was just such a great watch.
Hey sledge (or anyone else), I was wondering where to find Hotarubi's All Stars emulator movie. Or maybe just his Twitter url (since I think the link is on there)...thanks.
I'll be uploading my research movies to youtube soon, so I wanted to compare my warpless routes to his. I know my 3-2 was suboptimal, so there's probably other tricks I'm missing.
edit: I found the twitter, but the movie link is broken, so if anyone has the file, I would be most grateful.
NES, but I don't really have immediate plans for a speedrun. Right now I'm just collecting all known strats so I can upload individual level TASes (warps and warpless) to youtube. I enjoy making emu research movies, but get a little bummed when people can't watch them, so I figured yt might be more convenient.
I'd like to try this stuff out on console though...maybe on stream.
Btw cak please try to see if using the pow to bring a ninji into the boss room in 1-3 can save time. Even if it doesn't save much, failing it shouldn't be a huge time-waste.
it does. i helped make the tas, so i know a few different alternative methods for some things. if you throw the ninja against a wall, you can hit mouser with the ninji 3 times in a row quickly.
I went with Toad on 5-2...significantly harder than Luigi, but 3.2 sec faster. And I left the perfect Clawgrip in there. 1-3 Ninji saves something like 2.7 sec. Anyway these'l all be up on youtube sometime next week.
