Ok, sorry for the lack of updates, was busy spending my free time fixing up my wii for homebrew, and fixing up my router for proper torrenting. So yeah, I redid the 1st segment with the cockpit activation to save 3 seconds, and I got the second segment done, in much quicker time than I ever did before. I also figured out that loading from a previously loaded game as opposed to loading from the main menu saves about 1 second, so I'll be doing that from now on. I don't expect to get any more segments done today, but now that I'm better at dashing than I used to be, and because some segments have been made easier due to less boxes being opened, I'm thinking of combining a lot of segments from my previous run. As an example, I'm probably gonna do what used to be segments 3 and 4 (from the exploration base to Alanaire Citadel) in one segment. Since saving takes time and loading costs about 3 seconds, I'm expecting that combining segments will save about 5 seconds, which is worth the aggravation, in my opinion. I really want to break 2:40:00!
Ok, so I uploaded the first 3 segments to Youtube. Please let me know what you guys think, and if you see anything that can be improved. As well, I'm moving this weekend and I will lose my internet access until July 5th so no updates from me until then. Have a good week, and keep speeding! Smiley
I watched the first 3 segments of the new run. Very good, from what I could tell. There were some nice off-camera dashes (stupid camera) and the menu navigation was good.

The Armaros fight felt kind of slow, but I honestly don't know if it can be done faster. That's just my gut talking.
Thanks for the comment.
Yeah, the Armaros fight feels slow, but I'm not sure what I can do to speed it up. That one was the best I've done ever I think. I disable Faize's Earth Glaive at the start because it juggles Armaros when he casts it, and it's hard to hit ARmaros' shell when he's in the air, plus it can't be hit when he's down. It seems like the amount of damage you do to the shell doesn't really matter, what matters is the amount of hits you deal to hit. I try to use my Rush Mode when Armaros uses his so that Edge can get more hits in, and the second Rush Mode when the shell is destroyed, so that I can hopefully crit him for tons of damage. So yeah, I don't know what could go faster. Sad

I'm working on segment 4 (the first part of Alanaire Citadel) right now, and I'm decent at it now. But I still loathe the hit detection on the Lizardmen. If their hit boxes were programmed to actually fit their graphics instead of extending way beyond them, this segment would be a breeze. So I expect to be working on the citadel for a long time, especially since segment 6 is the Dragon Newt, and killing him quickly, with him dropping a Fire Gem, is really hard. After that, the game becomes a breeze though. Smiley
And we stood still.
Wow, no talk since 2009? I'm surprised, this being an SO game and all...
Waiting hurts my soul...
Looks like a full run (or test run) is on youtube. It is too bad that a submission never happened.
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
I just saw the run on youtube, and I probably would have accepted  it if it was submitted.  How this game still hasn't been submitted yet is beyond me.
Waiting hurts my soul...
well, the runner was improving the run; you can see new videos for the first three segments on the previous page here. I guess he burned out on this.
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
I noticed Zenic, but it is a bit saddening to see that the runner gave up in spite of having a very good first run.  Of course, the first version had alot of problems in it, but 2:48 was a really good time considering.  I suppose someone else needs to take up the slack perhaps...

In fairness, the game is kind of ass. I finally beat it this week so I'm totally allowed to say that. Even though I'm no longer personally offended by it, it's just kinda dumb and way more boring than it should've been.

The practice run was pretty cool though and I hope somebody submits one eventually (even if I think doing segmented tri-ace runs on -1 difficulties is LAAAAAAAME). Also it's obviously not worth it if you don't have the console but the PS3 version lets you skip the scenes at the IC terminal and obviously saves time from disc switching, so I assume it's slightly better. Plus the interface is a lot less ugly.
Hey everyone, this is my first post here but I've lurked here for a while.

Has any thought been given to a Chaos run? I have a very very very crude route that I used to beat the game here (scroll down a little): http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=309058

I looked through the stuff posted for Earth and the final team was Reimi, Arumat, Meracle, and Sarah. Chaos needs 2 healers honestly, so I played with Edge, Arumat, Lymle (Myuria's AI sucks and she doesn't know Faerie Healing right when you get her), and Sarah. The runthrough would be NG+ obviously for access to Ashley jewels. I also have 100% BTs, so I get an extra 3 CP for each character. More or less pointless, but it could help. The major things I did differently to survive were:

-A really safe strategy for Armaros. Really really safe. It's horrendously slow, but I can beat him at lvl 1 with that strat.
-I don't need to buy any new weapons because of Ashley jewels.
-I open chests along the way for SP. I need SP to max Chain Combos, HP Boost 4 times, ATK Boost, Critical Hit, and any healing spells (namely Restoration). Extra SP would go to skills. It would be useful to know exactly how much SP I need so I can only open necessary chests.
-Tamiel sucks and I killed him with the EM Bombs I picked up on the Cardianon Mothership with my last party member, Myuria. Of course, I had no strategy and I assume there's a way to win without doing that.
-Before Phantom Forces, I level up Sarah to 37 for Restoration and max it.
-I can't do damage during Phantom Forces outside of crits with Edge and Reimi.
-I pick up the Laser Weapon after Kokabiel for +900 ATK for Arumat as well as some extra experience from the mini-boss.
-I add a light synth to it since Satanail is weak to light, which on Nox requires an unskippable cutscene. I'm not sure if it does on EN II. I'm not sure what enemy drops the Light Gem I used nor if there's an easier alternative to get that synth.
-I pick up the Holy Sword "Farewell" in the PoC for Edge for the extra offense and light attribute.
-After the first phase of Satanail, which is horrible, I do damage primarily in Rush Combos.

My final save was 7:30-ish and then Satanail took about 30 min to beat. Maybe less, it's been a while. But that was with NO planning aside from the Universe run I did right before, so I think 5 hours is possible.

The sad thing is that I don't have any means to record a run right now. But I'll look into getting something. I really don't know anything about that sort of stuff...
Kupo!
So I've started dabbling into running this (single segment), though haven't really gotten far on my practicing yet. As in I'm at Armaros. Trying to get down the strat Yako used in the segmented he'd been working on. So far I'm about 30 seconds or so off of him on the actual fight and can definitely still bring it down just from not doing dumb screw ups on the timing. Running it on PS3 version though (couldn't bring myself to even go back to the xbox version at this point). I'm probably going to make the run a non-NG+ (not import old battle trophy/monster/weapon data) on Earth, but I'm not sure yet. All my testing is going off not doing it NG+ mainly because my main account is at the 20 save limit and I don't want to delete any for testing ^^;.

Hoping to be able to run this SS someday but we'll see. Some parts are scaring the living heck out of me (phantoms...) just thinking about them.
hi there fun to see this alive again. I actually speedrun this game and I think im the WR holder of my category wich is SS NG+ earth difficulty. I did the run in 2:44:19 and can still be improved ( i want sub 2:40 before i submit) if you have any question about strats or w/e i'll be happy to help =D

I wonder if anyone will read this thread after I bump it and then speedrun this game on galaxy because its definitely possible to beat it on galaxy without any fight that isnt forced and without the assistance of monster jewels. Ill try to cover some things no one mentioned or I overlooked.

Aeos: If you blind side of of the bugs in the first battle in a way you can hit both after the blindside you are golden. Once one dies you can just autoattack into sonic blade (the only tech you have at this point) to kill the bug.

Armoros: The only thing you really need to do in this fight is make sure you aim you normal strikes so they always damage the shell and not armoros himself. You can typically get one attack in on the shell when he is in rush.

Dragon Newt: This almost killed my idea for even running galaxy until I decided on the safest most arduous route at the time. You may be able to do this faster with edge but after I have edge/reimi blow up the adds I try and dance around with reimi taking wittle shots. If I encured damage I would have edge heal me and continue to dance. There may be a faster way to this one but this was all I could muster.

Barachiel: Make the fire sword (If you didnt use pickpocket for your fire gems you need 2 from the trees, if not i think you only need 1) and lymle should have heal so you can manual cast it or just throw berries (or not get hit but things happen that can outweigh getting hit) so its a pretty straight forward fight. This fight is similar to armoros because you have to aim the weakspot just right for your combos to hit correctly, Eventually he dies.

Cardionon: The first door encounter can be hell. Might as well manual control your fighters for chains. Im pretty sure Yako did it in there video but the first chain ambush you run into can be avoided by either walking back through door (easier) or time you dash run to the right once they get a little closer. If you time it right you dash right (I could have went left) you avoid everything. Doesnt save much time, 2 seconds maybe. In the forced encounters to the tower control baccus dash shoot weaker enemies and chain galvanic shocks on stronger enemies. Needless to say you start with enough SP to get high levels with chain combos and galvanic shock.

Sahariel: To get a good segment all you need is an early weakspot reveal and some galvanic shocks. Dont put lymle in this fight.

Genomic Beast: Most of the fight is trying not to get whacked around while you try and galvanic shock chain. Too bad you get meracle afer this fight she would have shortened t greatly.

Black Eagle: the game gives you a new sword behind the king of astral (if i misnamed that its the water access only town). Chain combo stampeding slashes until he rushes, rince repeat. Never use Edge again.

Tamiel: Prep:  Here is something that Im sure people have tried, think thats so obvious, and never tell anyone. This game gives you a lot of things before boss encounters to quickkill (most) of them (half?). I almost feel like I pulled some ideas for this strat from the chaos guide on gamefaqs. Battle Party: Bachus Myuria Meracle Faize. You have enough to sp to max ice needles, chain combos, and the mage's berserk  (boosts your int by 100% trples mp cost) that you just got.
The Fight: Get Myuria to max her rush gauge to full before the tamiel fight and then launch the rush comboi with your int buff and he should die (if bachus starts the combo you will just barely not kill tamiel and wipe pretty quick after his goons reappear. Needless to say take your other guys techs off so they dont join your rush combo)

Phantom Ambush: Prep: Super Myuria shines again. This time you want to synth one symbol card that gives 20% damage to water symbols (Its deepfreeze or ice needles, read it in the synth guide on gamefaqs. The reason I say at least one is because an int buffed ice needles will ALMOST one shot a phantom without a symbol boost on your weapon. This is what I found in my test run and like I said they were so close without the boost so I imagine there would be no problems with one boost. Also, you can choose to synth bachus new chest armor you found the recipe for (fire chainmail?) if you really want bachus to have no problems taunt tanking. When I did the tests without the armor there were times bachus would die and that usually results. Its a big exp fight so you dont want any deaths when you finish.
The fight: Int boosted ice needles after bachus taunts every fight. In the last fight switch out myuria for meracle, so your party looks like Bachus Meracle Faize Sarah. I used Reimi instead of bachus in the last run but honestly reimi is poor in the damage department main game. Statistcally, her techs have less percent modifiers on them and her equips generally have lower stats. Oh and Meracle is faster against Satanail in first form, not to mention you can actually avoid things with all other characters many times better.

Armoros Manifest: The key here is to get the Queen to go into rush mode, blindside her, then chain comet impacts into the tail with the wind claw you just found. If it was in rush before you blindsided it wont flinch and should die quickly to your many 99,999 comet impacts. Very fast fight if you can manipulate her into rushing quickly while avoiding her adds, which can be hectic.

Kokabiel: You can buy a dark based scythe to hurt kokabiel that much more ( I imagine, 2 many hit numbers when he is vulnerable) . Make arumat blow the adds up quickly so none of your party members get killed. Once he orbs up chain combo with Arumats Fire pillar (chains fast doesnt move boss much) Meracles Comet Impacts, and Bachus with galvanic shocks (You this yourself manually, isnt hard once you get used to it and it does the best damage you can get). Rinse repeat.

Nox Prep: Laser weapon isnt required and I didnt get it in test run so Im not sure if its worth it or not, but basic prep since seeds dont synth like they do on the xbox (I play this on ps3, health seeds work the same), is just used anything and everything you have to make light weapons with modifiers and armours with nice modifiers for meracle and arumat, all of bachus's equips can be found in the last dungeon. I forget what accessories I used but if I could have easily had anti-void rush boosting stuff I think Id be set. I didnt farm for anthing, unless of course you get yer laser weapon.

APostle: You will take damages so be prepared. Blow him up as fast as you can with whatever you want. Arumat is basically all range mode but I dont know if bachus would have any of his good ranged attacks at this point, and the ranged of comet impact is less than desirable. Just keep your party doing things and he will blow up.

Satanail: Max acrobatic vault so you can first phase with meracle and Arumat chaining his all range fire pillar that i cant remember the name of. Second phase space sarah far away (even though its likely the fight will just come to her) and prepare for hell. Just keep your rush gauges up and rush combo if you forsee something bad happening or you want something that is currently happening to stop. Its optimum to have meracle and bachus on opposite sides so satanail doesnt double up damage but controlling satanail can be a bother. You have 3 guys with good dps so just try and blow him down. When I tried to solo this with reimi first phase i just kept getting chased ( i feel like i even tried to taunt him away with arumat but wasnt too effective) and couldnt effectively do damage. And everyone else in this game does more damage. I dislike Reimi is postgame 2 but she makes it easy if you want to manually fight your encounters( 2 useful in chaos when Dragon Roars on top of X-Claws was often 2 much)

But like I said earlier this game often gives you things really close to the encounter you need them. I beat the postgame on chaos without ever finding the secret shop on en2, and now i use that shop before Kokabiel. If you did a chaos run all you really need to do is synth more for fights. Hope someone takes these strats and gets a good time on whatever difficulty you are on.

Kupo!
I've gotten a 3:28:00 on the PS3 version on Earth (no save data at all, so true new game) using pretty different strats. Pretty much I've determined Reimi is bloody useless, Edge is king. He buffs so much in the final dungeon and it takes about 2-3 minutes (if even!) to buff him.

http://www.twitch.tv/rinimt/b/394089005

Pretty much:

Armaros: Turn off Earth Glaive, smack side with Edge. Typically 2 hits > turn in rush.

Dragon Newt: Level up to 7 on Edge/Faize, 6 on Lymle (minimum). Reimi is pretty much left for dead until the healing point if she dies. I did grab the Eldarian Bow for her. On my 3:28 I also made the Storm blade, but I plan on skipping it now (had a 3:31 last night that got trolled by every single boss, but I did have green on Armaros/Dragon Newt!) She's typically level 5-6 though. Blindside with Edge til dead (after taking out the adds for safety).

Barachiel: Screw this fight. Screw. This. Fight. Run ender #1. Bloody 400-500 damage per slam on PS3. A good fight relies on insta-blindsides soon as he hits short range/target circle appears. Also, Cardianon Sword is picked up in here to help with the fact he's still on his base weapon (in new route, he'd have Storm Blade otherwise in my 3:28). Reimi/Faize likely to die. Crit Hit level to max, Healing on Lym to 6. Everyone is on manual (I do all manual healing on Lym so she doesn't bonk him to mess up the strat).

Cardianon: Edge blindside kill the first fight. Turn off everyones blindsides. Pretty much the hellhole for encounters. Bacchus dodge/shoot everything to death (interrupted too much otherwise). Reimi swapped out for Bacchus, never to be seen again/

Sahariel: Galvanic Shock (quick kill the early ones to get more later damage). Pray he doesn't wipe Faize and Edge. If he does, get them up ASAP.

Genomic beast: Dodge/Shoot until full rush, rush combo to death.

Black Eagle: Grab the sword for Edge, fully level his Chain Combos and Stampede Slash (equip 4 of them). Blindisde > Stampede Slash (same time as just rushing him, but much, much safer)

Guardian Beast: Myuria Ice Needles (Myuria, Faize, Meracle, Edge)

Tamiel: Myuria Ice Needles. Rush Combo w/ Faize for safety once he's done Force Riot (Myuria Faize, Lymle, Edge - Lymle out for Meracle once Tamiel is dead)

Phantom Ambush: Myuria Ice Needles. On the last Phantom, Myuria out for Meracle. (Myuria, Faize, Sarah, Edge)

Forced bug fight: Arumat Unholy Maelstrom

Armaros Manifest: The easiest yet one of the most annoying bosses to pull off. Kill the group of 2 bugs w/ Arumat, put him on manual, switch to Meracle, Comet Impact her to death. If all went right, the last bug is still alive. Meracle is swapped for Myuria. Kill last bug. (Meracle, Arumat, Edge (manual), Sarah)

Kokabiel: Run ender #2. All the prep for the rest of the game is done before this. I've been picking up Fol all over to afford this trip. Anything thats worth anything is sold once I pick up the wind ring and 19k fol chest. Max out Blueberries, Blackberries, up to 10 Physical/Mental stimulants, max fresh sage, max resurrection elixirs, 5 of the major status cures (excluding Basil, got that back on Cardianon because of GB). Edge (if everything goes right back at AM), is boosted up to level 10 Mystic Cross. Arumat gets the Grim Reaper. If I have the money to spare, I charge the Earth Ring. For the actual fight, get the adds out of the way ASAP. Charge blindside til she reveals weak point. 3 UM's, rush combo, fail the first one. Charge to try and beat her next weak point. Rinse repeat til dead. (Myuria, Edge, Arumat, Sarah)
-If Edge wasn't able to get in for AM, leave him in here but on manual

Nox: I pick up Attack Boost and Holy Sword "Farewell" here. Max out Attack Boost on Edge and equip the sword.

Apostle of Creation: Edge's time to really shine. Mystic Cross spam! Rush combo when gauge is full. Sarah should have maxed Enhance (and all her healing stuff). Myuria max healing stuff. Arumat takes off the Grim Reaper for this fight (I always forget this though). He should die in a few minutes if he doesn't jerkface about Divine Wave. (Edge, Myuria, Arumat, Sarah)

Satanail: This guy... I haven't had a run essentially ended by him... Oh who am I kidding, I have. I grabbed a Tent on the final rock and use it before him just to full heal. I basically YOLO to wipe out the gems (rush combo if able), and now I'm just YOLO'ing this fight. My run last night ate a double plasma cyclone which wiped out my main team... I cried a bit. Mystic Cross and Diabolic Edge spam. Once he starts using his LOVELY PS3 exclusive move, Dawn of the Cosmos, it really gets interesting. Basically just down as much reviving stuff as you can and keep doing damage til he dies. (Edge, Myuria, Arumat, Sarah)
-Edge does about 50k (depending on level) per Mystic Cross on this fight.

About 95% of these strats were tried and tested many times to ensure they are what can be found as the fastest while still being SS safe. Ironically, my least safe fight might be Satanail just because I'm yolo'ing it now.
Hey Rinimt! I've actually been interested in running SO4 International for awhile now. However, the only thing keeping me from doing so is I've heard that there are random freezes throughout the game. However, I've never encountered any freezes on any version of the game so far. Have you ever encountered this in a run before?
Kupo!
I have yet to hit a freeze while doing a run (in fact, my game has never frozen xD). The main freezes I hear about are in the bonus dungeons so they wouldn't affect the speed run anyways.
Well, that's good news. I guess I'll put that in the list of games I plan to run. Thanks!
I like that Barachiel blindsiding considering Ive never tried it and it works.

That Rush Combo use on Kokabiel to stop his new add spawns is pretty neat albeit the rough start. It make the rest of the fight pretty manageable, not to mention the luck on the last cycle. At least there are more tricks in this game than adding more DPS.

I like the Edge Mythic Cross spam. Its percent modifier is big and the numbers show it. Much stronger than my Reimi and it seems better than keeping Bachus in. Meracle still #1 catgirl <3

Pretty tight execution and some close calls. Grats on your time. Man I laugh every time I hear Edge says Faize's name in that peculiar voice before he drops Faize.

One question though: is nether strike bad or something? Is the damage number misleading? Is it slower because I have to let it tick all the way? Because it cant crit? Is it forced fire or something? Is  it just plain slower? Just want to know (since you tested the skillz)
Edit history:
rinimt: 2013-05-24 05:54:41 pm

Lack of ability to crit = bad in general. Attack is a huge stat in the run and crits are even bigger. (A big reason Bacchus is dropped so early. No crits :/ Also the fact he can't hit the broad side of a barn reliably.)

Welp, apparently I needed to test more. Just went through a big testing session and have found (apparently) over 15 minutes that can come off my current PB (3:13:17). Just a small taste of the testing (note: This was a god-tier Satanail fight, Apostle left something to be desired). My bad for underestimating Nether Strike. Tongue

Sub-3 is coming and it will be glorious for the PS3 version (on New Game). :3 Props to the recent Japanese runners who actually made me go through and test stuff again, btw. >_> (Morisot-kun has a 3:56:xx on Galaxy timing from New Game > "Save Clear Game Data". Lecya has a 4:01:xx on Galaxy with the same timing.)

SPEEDruns not SAFEruns
I love watching runs of this game (I creep on rinimt without talking in chat :D) Eventually (once I'm happy with my FFIV run) I am HEAVILY considering picking this game up. The first time I played it I fell in love with it, GL with runs Rinimt - hopefully I can join in on the fun sometime in 2014
With rinimt's upcoming run at C4L and two of the Japanese runners recently running this game a lot I thought I'd give it a go.  I'm running it on Galaxy difficulty, same as the Japanese runners.  I've seen both Japanese full runs and rinimt's full run.  The routes are all completely different which I think is really cool.  I'm sort of just stealing ideas from each one while also coming up with my own.  I'm not even close to finished routing (only have up to Earth at the moment and I know the real routing doesn't begin until after Roak) but I thought I'd at least share a few things.  Hopefully this will help hype up the game and maybe bring some more people in.  Honestly I'm having a lot of fun with this game.  It's definitely not as frustrating as some games but it still has a really nice element of skill with all the enemy dodging.

So this post isn't a complete waste let me share a couple little things that can improve the runs.

Armaros.  I've basically boiled this boss down to three legit strategies.  The Japanese strategy which involves running edge to a wall and luring the boss down to you and then blind siding into the wall (to cancel the animation) and then getting free hits in.  Rini's strategy which is have everyone go all out and attack him nonstop.  And this one.  To be fair, I haven't practiced the other two as much to get a fair timing but I did see Lecya get a nice green split on the boss with his strategy and this video (which isn't even the best fight) is still about 30 seconds faster.  So obviously for this boss you want as many attacks as possible to hit his shell.  If I let Faize do melee attacks he tends to go all over the place.  Not only that, his damage is so pathetic that he just gives the boss free rush.  With Reimi you can easily position the boss so every single one of her attacks hits the shell.  When the boss isn't in rush mode Edge and Reimi can combo him until he rushes.  When he goes in rush mode you can switch to Faize to cast his spell for 8 damage which counts against the shell while having Edge kite.  Once the shell breaks it's way too hard to rely on Reimi to ever hit his weak point so I don't even care about positioning anymore.

Dragon Newt.  From my testing I've concluded it's fastest to make both Edge and Reimi their IC weapons.  Yes, that means the time spent opening a couple extra chests, making a couple shopping trips, running to and from the ship, and doing item creation still saves more time.  Not only that, Reimi kills the adds so fast that they never become a threat in the fight.  And, frankly, the longer this fight goes on, the higher the chance of making a mistake and dying.  This guy will kill you incredibly fast.

Sahariel one cycle.  This guy has to be one cycled to guarantee that everyone in your party gets exp.  Often if you don't one cycle him he'll go into rush mode and then use his big move that kills everyone except Bacchus (and sometimes Edge).  I had to use party sp in order to give Bacchus level 10 Galvanic Shock and level 10 Chain Combos.  I just barely have enough SP to do it (I think I have like 15 party SP remaining after).  The difference in damage between level 9 and level 10 is huge and this fight is so tight that it has to be level 10.  Also requires an attack boost.  You could use Lymle's artistry to create enhance cards which would give him even more damage and make this fight safer but I prefer Reimi's cooking because I use it for everything else in the game so it's a lot more convenient.

Genomic Beast.  The idea for this guy is to get Bacchus to 100 rush and then spam Galvanic Shock until the beast dies.  The biggest obstacle in this fight is this guy likes to use a charge attack to run away while you're in the middle of comboing him.  So naturally the fight should be taken to a corner.  I like to start the fight with a dash shot just to make sure I get aggro.  When I attack him and he doesn't fight back I'm getting free damage and rush.  When I attack him and he attacks back he knocks me down and builds up my rush gauge.  Sometimes you get lucky (like in the video) and stun the boss.  But this works even if you don't.  Make sure you buy a basil in Cardianon because this guy will sometimes paralyze you.
Kupo!
See here's the big problem with crafting: Yes on Galaxy it probably actually does more than on Earth. But, going to craft just takes ages. I've tested crafting the weapon for at least Edge (and Reimi would waste even more time), and yes I used to even do it. Soon as I started cutting it I started saving a minute. Alanaire can potentially screw you over more (like in my current PB), but on a good run you can save a lot of time. I think when I first made the change I got said run and ended up saving 30 seconds over crafting.

Overall on Earth, crafting takes so dang long for what ends up being minimal return on short fights. As you start getting later, any buffs you have have such a high potential to just get wiped from a boss going to into a crap AI pattern.

To give you an idea on my optimal fight times (on Earth), Armaros is around 2 1/2 minutes (I might test just turning Faize off that fight though). Dragon Newt is like... 75 seconds (and optimally should beat him somewhere around 30-31 minutes into the run which). Sahariel is like, 30 seconds. Again, here you have to remember that while you can spend all the time you want synthing, you have to make up that and some for it to be worth it (and synthing takes a fair while for how short the fights are). Genomic Beast is around 40-45 seconds (if even). It all comes down to if he behaves (which really is every fight, SUP BARACHIEL).

So while I don't know for Galaxy, I know for Earth that synthing really takes too dang long for what really doesn't pay out.

Also, figure I'll post this here. Lots of words so be prepared.

Well, finally decided to start test Reimi on the final boss rush on SO4. It's not perfect (she'd ideally get more XP and be a couple levels higher but you know...), but it gave me a good idea of how it'd go...

It equals out using Myuria but cuts me a healer. HOWEVER it starts losing in that I'd have to specially visit a shop JUST for her to pick up a weapon after Kokabiel. I'd also have to pick up -3- skill manuals just for her (Berserk, Crit Hit, and Chain Combos), which means I'd have to sell something to get some money or pick up an extra chest I know of that has ~8k fol.

Of course the best way to make this strat work would be to try and just use all 3 of my fighters (Edge having a higher death chance - speaking of him, cutting the weapon I'd normally pick him up regardless of the outcome of this. Arumat too good). I know folks used this strat for things like superbosses, but I always beat them the painful way. Of course, once the last boss starts using Dawn of the Cosmos, Edge is pretty much screwed unless I've managed to get him in an invincibility spot under the boss.

It's going to take more testing and timing to get a better idea. Of course, the save I made I didn't have Edge IN for Kokabiel (and Kokabiel got a bit messy, but she just does that at times) so he's not AS high of level as normal. I also didn't have him in for Apostle or for the first half of the final boss.

Overall, the main thing that worries me is that it IS coming out even which comes down to "why do it?" It'll work out good if it comes out faster more often, but what if it doesn't? Well, guess that means just leaving Myuria in and maintaining the old strat (minus getting that weapon for Edge because well Arumat).

^In the end I couldn't justify the time spent to buff Reimi up at the end there. I really couldn't. The only other thing I might try is still visiting that extra shop where her new bow is but grabbing the Edge sword instead. I just don't feel like refighting Kokabiel to test that. >.>

It is nice to see more folks (actually) working on the route here. I just really wish synthing didn't take nearly as long as it did (especially when you add in item gathering, etc).
