I actually played that game and i saw potential to being a good game to speedrun. It actually have more RNGs than Valkyria Chronicles, but still having potential to speedrun and its way more challenging than the first title.

The objective of topic is encourage more people to know and maybe dedicate to make speed runs of this title.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 is a Tactics RPG game for PSP/Playstation Network.

What actually make the game more challenging than the first one is the modification on the orders system, on VC2 the orders are way more expensive, for example, a defensive boost order on VC1 cost 1 CP while in VC2 cost 4CP. On VC2 you have way less amount of CPs to use too, while on the VC1 at third mission you already had 4 leaders on mission giving 4 extras CPs, on VC2 you have only 1 leader until the very end of the story mode (where you can assign another leader). This don't make possible anymore the strategy used on VC1 of buffing Alicia with all possible orders to make her almost unkillable and just walk her to objective ignoring all the enemies.

The RNG factor of game which can affect the speedrun is the Credit system. On VC2 to advance the class of one person you need specifics credits, the credits are earned making missions, but which credits you gonna receive at end are completely random. So if you are lucky you will have more people with advanced classes in one run than on another and this will make the game easier. Even with it, you can manage to end the game even without too many advanced classes, and you can manage to make the right persons have higher chances to get the right credits to upgrade their classes.

The game consist on 12 months of the year, beginning on January and ending at December, when you reach December you finish the story of the game and goes to year 2, on year 2 you unlock more missions with way higher difficult to make.

The unique difference of US and JAP version is that on JAP version you can Reach "S" rank on missions and on US you can only reach "A" rank, but the pre-requisites to get "S" rank on JAP version is the same to get "A" rank on US version, so doesn't matter which version you play. About loading times, skipping cut scenes and similar stuff is the same thing on both versions.

I'm actually launching 3 categories to speedrun this game:

- Any% Rank A/S Story Mode Run: Each month you need make a specific amount of key missions to unlock the story mission to proceed on the game, the objective of this category is only make the missions to unlock the story missions until you finish the history, all missions needs to be Rank A or S (depending the version of game you are playing). The difficult to make it is kinda easy and the RNG influence is low.

- 100% Rank A/S Story Mode Run: On this category you need to make all missions of all months earning rank A or S (depending the version you are playing) until you finish the history. You don't need to make Classmates/Paid missions, its optional (maybe if you want something specific from these missions is up to you to make). The difficult to make this category is about the same of Any% run and the RNG influence is lower than Any% run.

- 100% Rank A/S Game Run: On this category you need to make all missions of all months on first and second year (it means all missions of story more and all missions post story mode), all classmates missions and all paid missions of first and second year with A or S rank (depending the version you are playing). The difficult of this category is medium, you really have to play strategically to beat the post story mode missions because there actually pretty hard and the RNG influence is Medium to High, because probably you will have to grind to upgrade the class of some people of your squad to make the missions lv 80+.

I prefer forbidden use codes to unlock extra soldiers and DLC missions to make the runs more interesting and challenging. The DLC missions can give you overrated weapons with high amount of power or insanely accuracy. And some soldiers unlocked by code have Valkyria Potentials which is very powerful too. But it is up to you, since you don't use have third software to gain advance on the game, any game native glitch/code/etc are allowed.

If you are up to speed run this game you can read this .doc, this contains some tips to help you into game:
