Oh, that's looking really cool! Great work!
That was a nice run, impressive aiming, especially without a crosshair. But isn't SiN based on the quake engine? I was expecting bunnyhopping and rocketjumping, but I guess that doesn't work in SiN.

I see in the topic start that you ran on medium difficulty. When watching the run I thought you were running on easy, because at times you were taking shots everywhere but only losing a very small amount of health.

It was a nice run to watch. Will you be submitting it to the SDA?

Rest in pieces.
There was a crosshair, but there was no crosshair in the setting of the person who recorded the video.
It is possible in SiN to doublejump, though I found only 1 place to apply it, a 34th level. Bunnyhopping is impossible, they wanted to make a game that featured a reaslitic hero :).
The difficulty was medium, and I can see why it seems strange. In fact, every time I recorded a final demo, I watched it and couldn't believe how easy my torture Smiley looks. The game is fully aim-based, especially the 19th level nightmare. It looks extremely easy, and it took 8 hours to quickly shoot down the guys with rocket launchers (at the start, while the boat was moving with different speed).
The damage varies, so you can use luck or plan where to be. The guns deal a different amount of damage  according to where you fire at - head\body\legs. The same goes for the AI's guns. Besides, there's also 3 types of armor, head\body\legs.

P.S. Radix isn't responding about SiN, probably busy.
I recorded it, there is a crosshair but it's hard to see due to the compression.  Hmm, I'll look into it
hmm I tried the demo and strafejump is working although curving is wired. maybe they fixed it at a certain version?

here's my test run of the level 2 with jumps. the time is 1:02 and I ran on easy. didn't have to shut the turrets off thanks to jumps Smiley

Rest in pieces.
Unfortunately, strafejumping won't give you any speed boost in the game. They probably didn't want to modify the engine much at first, that's why it's still possible in the demo version.
Speedruns 4-ever...
xyzzy on the page http://socr.uwindsor.ca/~muraws2/temp/sin/ there are only 30 segments and not 36 as it says on the page 2 on this forum!

Where are the missing 6 segments??

Sorry about sounding like a b**ch about this, but I really liked this run ! ! !

Seen half of it and hope the rest to be as god as the first part.

That's the whole run. Some levels could be skipped, so they are skipped Wink I used the full numbering while planning and didn't change it afterwards.

run got rejected due to inconsistencies between segments but you can nevertheless download it here:

http://www.archive.org/details/SiN_10109
Never give up!
Been watching it - and the run probably would have been okay if it weren't for the inconsistencies (having not played the game, I was only able to spot one - a MASSIVE spike in speargun ammo between two underwater segments).

My one complaint about the game is... WOW, those explosive weapons are WIMPY.
I've also watched it and noticed quite some inconsistencies (Health, armor, ammo). The gameplay is pretty good though, too bad about the inconsistencies. I liked this game quite a lot so it would be great to see it become added to SDA sometime, hopefully Smiley
Rest in pieces.
Big inconsistencies happened when the game reset itself a few times according to the game plot, it makes you get all your health back, changes weaponry you carry, etc.
There were very small inconsistencies, too (3), I just wish somebody warned me that all values should have been absolutely the same.

Isn't that written in rules ?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

isn't it not your fault if the game does it automatically?
Looks pretty cool to me. Glad you can still watch it even if it did got rejected.

Good job on this. Glitched or not, that was good shooting and a obviously well thought off path.

I thought that if the inconsistencies are very small, they're allowed. Somebody confirmed it when asked, can't remember exactly who, but I believed him.

A few times it was automatic, but not always. So much time has passed that I don't remember how many times it wasn't automatical, two perhaps. In other words, not too many times.

Thanx, I had a lot of pleasure recording the run Smiley
Verified verifier and hangaround :)
I was one of the ones who were verifying the game and I rejected it. The amount of armor you carry changed a few times throughout the game and there were a few other things as well.

You can discuss whether 25 or 50 or whatever armor points is a minor or a major inconsistency, but I didn't feel that it would be all right.

I had great fun watching the videos though and I am pretty sure the videos can be made consistent in quite short time.
the goal is conquest
I believe I have found the part of the game where one of the inconsistencies mentioned comes from - between Underwater Passage 1 and 2 - the game automatically gives you at least 10 spears at the start of part 2. No idea why, but that's how it is.

meanwhile I am doing my own speedrun of this game.

Munt Phoenix (01:01.90)
Thrall Master (04:07.70)

Total: 52:09.97

note: since I've been comparing against xyzzy alot, I retimed her run and got 3:10 for Freeport Waterworks 1, 1:04 for Munt Phoenix and 4:19 for Thrall Master, which gives a new total of 59:48.

note 2: I actually did more than just compare against xyzzy's run; she did a great job in planning the route, I merely tweaked it in few places and I suppose better executed it here and got luckier there. it's too bad I have no means of contacting her.

I am waiting for some question about editing my segments to be answered before I submit the run, but here are some bloopers

edit: lol, just discovered the shortcut that skips both waterworks entirely
the goal is conquest
so...originally I didn't plan on anything beyond this speedrun, but it seems that the game plays never the same again once you speedrun it. I decided to do a longplay on easy right after to enjoy the game again, but instead I found multiple shortcuts I could use. So I am re-running this. Besides I want to record the videos little better with less loading screens, so it flows better when watching.

so here is the "unofficial" run I completed
