Well, I'll be busy all week end I fear so I can't dig into the game. But I'll follow the progression of everyone and see if I can help. Good luck !
I agree with the meal ticket idea. I was able to get through with 8 health no issue, so I think 7 would work just as well. i figured one big return trip would be a bit more preferred than two smaller trips, that way you don't lose time with having to fight the map screen twice rather than just once. The big health upgrade really isn't necessary until the boss rush in the Castle.

You're absolutely right about the cost of the anchor as well. I hadn't thought about that. I'm curious as to the infinite combo on Enchantress 2 as well, that one piqued my interest.

All I can say is is fuck Plague Knight's RNG. The two bosses that take me the longest are him and Spectre Knight.

I forgot to add that there should definitely be pathing for considering the placement of the wandering knight fights on the map and those bonus stages as well (the ones that appear after a certain stage) as to avoid them getting in the way. I know I got cornered by Zubaz when trying to leave the armory village after picking up the Dynamo Armor. That was an unpleasant waste of 5 minutes.

Oo, you have a point, one big trip could be good. I'll check that out. My only worry about that is the magic, since having more magic will be invaluable on Plague Knight and maybe Treasure Knight if we're using the Flare Wand, and we might need it for Dust Knuckle strats, but I'll take that under consideration, that could work.

Also, since we were talking about it earlier, here's my King Knight fight. Again, I wait a bit before using fireballs since I need it when he dashes, but once I start using it he goes down very very quickly. This fight's not fantastic, but a little practice never hurts.

Also, I'd like to note that I do take a lot of damage in this stage, so I usually grab the chicken that's to the left of a ladder you come up, just before one of the griffins. Puts you at mostly full health for the fight (obviously down a bit from bodying the griffin), which is nice, but the 1 or 1 and a half hearts that I would normally walk into that fight with just won't do.
Alternatively, if we don't pick up the Dynamo Armor, we could pick up the Conjurer's Coat. It costs 2000 less gold than Dynamo, ups your max magic +50, and all magic attacks do an additional 1/2 pip of damage, so that could come very handy with the cost vs upgrading magic at the shops.
Also, nice quick kill on King Knight. Lol'd at SGDQ audio in the background.
I've only really tried to speed run one other game but I think I will try my hand at Shovel Knight. Seems like it'll be fun.
The noob is strong in this one.

You've got that backwards, Conjurer's Cloak makes you take a 1/2 orb or damage, not deal. That's a thing to consider, but if we're not going to the village, then we wouldn't be getting any health upgrades, so we'd just die really quickly with the Cloak, probably not a good idea.
Oh you're right. I was reading the Upgrades List spreadsheet wrong. That explains the yellow flag over my head when I was trying to remember that from in game. So much for that idea!

Since y'all seem to think Specter Knight is hard. Every single time I got hit here was unintended, so I consider this fight to be garbage, but still pretty good. Consider that every time I shoot the fireball is calculated, because depending on where you shoot it, it can mess up his pattern, so I only shoot it in specific spots where it either doesn't change his pattern or doesn't change his pattern enough to make a difference. Also, I didn't notice the SGDQ sounds in the last one, and they're even worse here, so sorry about that, I'll watch out for that next time.

It's not that he's entirely hard, he just moves around a lot and being the slow Shovel Knight that I was, without the Flare Wand, it just ate up too much time.
I feel like I've got the Plains down. Probably old news by now but tell me what you all think.
Oh yeah, don't forget that we can skip bosses cutscenes with the pause button, nice video otherwise

Just little optimizations. Big thing I noticed is in that room with all the dirt and the slimes below, fourth screen from last, you went down the dirt on the right side and ended up hitting the slime a ton. Going down on the left side generally avoids that. Also, I like you strat for the Black Knight fight. It seems like it's a bit slower than my strat, but a lot more reliable, so it'd probably well worth doing if you're uncomfortable with my strat.

Also, routing Mole Knight's stage now, you can actually kill Mole Knight before he goes underground and then comes back up in the dirt pile, will post video later once I get it down.

Oh, nice. I did not know that. Thanks for the tip Edralo.

@Copilot And yea it's mostly just down to trying to optimize it.

Also I may have found a trick in Pridemoor? It seems like it could be a faster way. Tell me your thoughts. I mess it up the first two times but with proper timing it could be something.
man its almost impossible to speedrun plague knight stage without the Phase Locket
Projekt, that skip would probably work pretty well, except that we'd all be likely going through that with the default 4 health pips, and each time you get hit from the lava it takes out an entire pip of your health, not just half. So it'd be a very risky strat, but obviously well worth it if you could pull it off in one try.
@NintendoSuicide You make a good point but I think on the way through the level there is probably a health drop somewhere not too far off path that could fix that health issue.
Ruling the cosmos!
Oh shit, I was trying to get that damage boost. If you can get that first try, then that'd be great. Like NS said, it'd do a number on us, so we'd have to basically do that rest of the stage perfectly, but that's not outside of the realm of possibilities.
If there's a health drop nearby after that skip then it'd be much more worth the risk, even if it'd take a few more seconds to get the health (or as Copilot said, just do the rest of the stage perfectly). Definitely look into that.

Actually in the room with the 3 mages after you get the fire spell there is a chicken. So if you do fine after that damage boost you should be fine for the rest of the stage.
Ruling the cosmos!
That's a bomb, not a chicken.
For me it's a chicken?
Ruling the cosmos!
Wait really? Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong room.
