Damn, I thought with SGDQ going on and the game being out just today, there wouldn't already be a pretty huge thread haha. I'll definitely try picking this up, see if I can find anything useful as well.
I trip over my own feet in game.
Some boss strats I thought of during the mech boss (don't remember which knight it is):
1) During phase 2 when he drops the balls, if you can place yourself directly under his head, phase for invulnerability, and then pogo, you can pogo off the ball directly to the head, allowing you to quickly get back up there without waiting on the platforms.
2) When he dashes forward, if you can stay on the left side while he's charging you can position yourself to pogo his head all the way back to the right.
3) The missiles at the top fire left -> middle -> right. If you can pogo when left/middle goes off, and then land on the LEFT side of the missile launcher you can dodge the right missile and resume damage dealing.

I think the overall best thing for Tinker Knight is to just stay on his head the whole time, it's really not that hard if you can predict when he dashes. I like the first idea for getting back onto him, but until we find more uses for the Phasing Locket, it's probably not worth it to pick up, especially with how tight it's looking like money is going to be.

It might be health related. Will have to try to keep an eye out on that. Can try to do a collaborative stream if you guys want where we all kinda watch/play/talk about things as they happen.
Ruling the cosmos!
I'm pretty sure it is health related, I remember he dashed significantly sooner than normal when I was throwing axes at him one time.

It probably is thinking on it. When he dashed, something changed, so it looked like a phase marker.
1 day late since i didnt back this, but bought it when it came to steam. Just completed it for the first time and thinking about running newgame+. Starting routing tomorrow morning after getting some sleep.
Finally a reason to use my Wii U outside of Mighty Switch Force.  I just finished a casual play through, and I'm going to be routing immediately. This game is really fun. I'm loving the discoveries being made already, and tbh I see a lot of potential from that gear relic (blanking on the name) in a NG+ run. Speaking of which, will that be a thing with a 100% file for access to all the relics and such?
Ruling the cosmos!
NG+ runs will definitely be a thing, but we're thinking of grabbing some of the relics anyway. If you find a practical use for the Mobile Gear, shout it out, but I've only ever used it to gain a little bit of height for backtracking to get gold, but we'll see, could be interesting.
Yes
Since everyone has been talking about Tinker Knight and Tony mentioned the mobile gear:

Tinker Knight phase 1 takes double damage to relics like the flare wand and dust knuckles.  The mobile gear is even a OHKO on phase 1.  Mobile Gear is a huge detour so its main uses elsewhere come from crossing the spikes on the way to Tinker Knight and on the Banquet Battle refight.  If you didn't want to collect mobile gear, flare wand/dust knuckles can dispatch phase 1 more quickly.  Ground spark also does an orb and a half.  Obviously for New Game + mobile gear OHKO strat is a no brainer.

Regarding phase 2
You might be able to optimize it a bit more, but I think this is pretty much how the fight is going to go.  You could throw a few anchors if you had them.  For New Game+ runners, the fishing rod does double damage on phase 2 for some reason.  Other than that this is pretty much it.
Ruling the cosmos!
Yo, that OHKO is really significant, that probably makes the item really significant. We can probably find some other uses for it too, but just that it makes the first phase of Tinker Knight go that quickly is really big, that's almost definitely worth picking up.

Nice on that OHKO. I'm going to try that on future things.
Ruling the cosmos!
My one problem I'm seeing with the flying dagger is how late you get it, but it's still probably worth it in the end, especially since the Dust Knuckles might make up for it, and you get those pretty quickly.

Hey, just got an idea. We could probably abuse deaths to refill our magic stat, might be a thing.
Ruling the cosmos!
Alright, I found a really cool strat for killing the first Black Knight quickly. I mess it up in this video (it's really hard to pull off) but you get the basic idea. Coming into the fight, you walk over and then jump on him. After that first contact, he starts moving to the right, and with this, I continuously pogo on his left side to lock him onto the wall. The part where I messed up is the hard part, where he starts to do his jumping attack, so his position messes up, but you can still hit him when he jumps, so with enough practice, I'm sure we can get it down consistently. (And I'll upload another video of the whole fight done correctly when I can, but I'm a bit short on time right now, so I'll have it up tomorrow)

I messed up, ignore this post.

It seemed like you could skip some of the mini bosses. Well that's real good to know.

From my experience, you can use this invuln from a hit to pogo over all of them. The only exception I've found is the lantern fish as you have a fight immediately after. That said, that's not really a problem becaaaauuuuse...

I've found that magnificently useful. I've been experimenting a lot with phase and it helps in that a LOT of post-difficult areas have an immediate checkpoint and a pit or something after them. Case in point would be the fish scroller on treasure knight. Using phase on the battle part makes it ridiculously easy to blitz through.

Actually, I'm thinking that with the changed jump physics, TK might well be one of, if not the easiest/most abusable stage.
Ruling the cosmos!
Well, when I say mini bosses, I'm referring to that stuff like the dragons and the griffins and dragons and stuff like that, those are easy. But other stuff like that angel fish, or the wizard in Plague Knight's stage, you have to fight. But yeah, I see how the Phasing Locket could be used to weenie fights really easily, that's something to consider.
The Belligerent One
Yeah. The griffins and dragons etc can just be pogo'd right over, no problem. I might try a new game in a while doing nothing but getting the fire wand and phase and just dumping everything else into MP upgrades to sate my curiosity as to whether it's actually viable. Obviously it means less invuln abuse for free jumps, but let's face it. Chicken isn't exactly scarce or off the beaten path.

I can see this game taking a lot of my time in the near future. It just seems so...Abusable!

Just got the game today, it's really neat. I'll be monitoring this thread! Nice to see that you all have already found skips and such.
The Belligerent One
Another fun fact re: phase is that it appears to reset your fall velocity. Just rendering a wholly unscientific video now.
Ruling the cosmos!
I did mention that in the first post of this thread, though at the time I didn't know about the Flying Dagger, so I doubt it's useful anymore. Though, now that I think about it, you may be able to pair it with use of the Dagger, I don't know.

Just beat this game today, fantastic game that I'd love to watch runs of! Can't wait to see folks doing full runs of this!

Also... there are some interesting names in the credits... shockingly familiar names...
Ruling the cosmos!
One of the backing bonuses was that your name would appear in the credits, so you'd probably recognize some names of people who had loads o' mone in there.
I got the game today on both 3DS and Steam. I haven't beaten the game yet, but I wanted to mention something I noticed early on.

Spikes are an instant kill if you touch them. However, invincibility frames allow you to walk on spikes for a brief amount of time similar to what the Phase Locket does. I haven't really abused this much, but it's useful in a room in Clockwork Tower where there's several ladders suspended over spikes with the tiny missiles shooting across the screen. If you get hit by a missile, you have enough time to run to the leftmost ladder to exit the room.

Also, I'm progressing through the game on 3DS right now. I've reached the Tinker Knight twice now and both times, the game has soft-locked right after the floor breaks and you fall to engage the robot. Shovel Knight is damage immune and stuck raising his shovel in the air menacingly while the robot is attacking. Any idea what is causing this? I was on the far left side of the room both times if that has anything to do with it.
