You're pretty good...
Not really... kinda working with bad internet and a phone right now. what i meant is when smashing the orb's main board you can use your blast power to freeze people in the area while smashing it, you can't move or anything but it is interesting. also you can complete a challenge to get the abduct o matic gun so if you get the glide ability you can go to the top of map and glide around for fast traveling sorta. also when you do something like jump out of a car and it has a animation where you touch the ground such as the roll you do when jumping out of a car, you can cancel it by just jumping again so you stand up faster. thats all i found recently besides sorta wall clipping which is tricky and can only get it to work with jumping. ill keep you posted tim Cheesy
Can you work on things for late game Nano? Punch the Shark and Keymaster are both the missions that give me the most trouble. Keith's mind in Girl who hates the 50's also gives me hell.
As co-op work begins with ProfessorBroman, I am going to most likely reroute the game, as my pb with the current route is 4:23:50 (One death to Zinyak = 1:50 lost.) See work from me, when I'm not doing Watch Dogs twitch.tv/bystandertimgames
I would like to concur that it seems getting the Tornado into Void is the fastest method I've tried so far. It really trivializes some of the earlier missions that some may have problems with at the beginning (Such as getting CID online) with its powerful guns, that conserve ammo. Plus you can still pick up clusters using the void with practice. Although in a casual run the clusters really don't seem all that necessary.

In missions where they try to disable your use of phoning in vehicles, I'm usually able to use them again after purposely taking a death (maybe retrying would work too, but I can't 100% confirm this). This was extremely useful on the Grand Finale level where you have to navigate platforms.

An INCREDIBLY useful glitch is switching weapons on any gun that uses regular ammo to instantly refill it, this saves an absurd amount of time over the run and makes upgrading the regular Shotgun seem like a viable strategy.

Another useful glitch is Stamina pumping. By tapping the run button instead of holding it, you usually get at least 95% of your run speed while still maintaining your stamina.

I haven't tried save-warping yet (I'm assuming that means that because the game auto-saves a lot that you can just reload your save and be at the objective? Can someone explain this in better detail?) Also, I don't know what this OOB glitch is either and how it would be useful.
Nice! Thanks for this cj!
I did a quick de-rust run today of 4:26 just to set a benchmark for myself and I intend to try to find some strats mission by mission over the weekend to try to carve off some time.

A few things I did find in this run that may or may not be know:

1 During Purple Ops after you kill Cyrus if you dive instead of run across the walkway it will skip the tripping animation.

2 Taking the clusters in a vehicle during Learn the rules, where they are first introduced to the cluster system, will skips the power-up animation.

3 When fighting Wardens if you are touching it when prompted to dive in it, it will skip a lot of the animation.

4 At the end of escape when the aliens are coming across the bridge you can just hide behind the boxes. If you put yourself so you can see through the gap between the 2 boxes they will rarely path around it so they can’t attack you as they try to hit you through the boxes.

5 In the very next day side scroller it is quicker to jump kick across it than to walk.

6 In the girl who hate the 50s when the propaganda trucks come after you it is far easier if you stand behind one of the indestructible telegraph pole so that they are not constantly hitting you.

7 In key master you can skip the battery collection animation by calling for the void after prompting to collect.

8 In punch the shark when you are waiting for cid to hack the shield rather than fighting you can hide under the stairs,go behind them  crouch then walk into them you will partially clip through them, it is a nice place to stay hidden from all the enemies until you can progress. You will sometime get knock out of your place but you can just return there preserving ammo and not risk getting killed.

9 Reloading the checkpoint will let you call for the void which makes defending the portals far easier.

10 Getting the ammo upgrade will also give you some ammo of the gun you do if for so wait until you run out before getting them and do it 1 at a time so it can be repeated.

11 When you get the health increase upgrade it will fill your health bar back up so if you every are near death this is a useful trick to survive without having to slow down and hide in cover.

Wake up and be awesome
I'm also getting into this game. Planning on doing a segmented run, with each segment being it's own mission.

Here's what I've found for the first two missions. Not sure if any of this stuff has already been discovered but might as well post it.

Mission 1
When you have to take out the first terrorist, get right in front of him so that he notices you, then you can shoot him and the other terrorist without having to go through the stabbing animation
No terrorist kills are required afterwards until the breach, which is self-explanatory

Mission 2
Right, Right, and Left are the fastest dialogue choices at the beginning
It's possible to skip certain abduction sequences after picking up your gun. I managed to skip Keith David's abduction by using the diving trick, but that glitched out the game, and I couldn't sprint. I also managed to skip Asha and Matt's abduction sequences fairly consistently using the same trick

Edit: Just wondering, has anyone managed to route the game yet in terms of clusters and which upgrades to get? If not, i wouldn't mind helping out, I love routing

You're pretty good...
Sorry too revive a dead thread, but i was going to start running this game on pc and was wondering if anyone would like too do a coop 100% run or just a normal coop run. Steam name is nanoscripter so add me there if interested.

Few things i found in the game, if using the dubstep gun in a run lower your effects audio so it has no startup and just starts firing.
Intellectual Nonsense
I've been seriously contemplating making this game my first real attempt at a speedrun. If you don't mind schooling a noob in how it's done, let's do coop.

A note on categories: The joining player in co-op is prompted to load a character from one of their saves. If I remember correctly, from that save, they get all their character upgrades immediately, and all their weapon/power upgrades the moment the relevant weapon or power is acquired. So "co-op New Game+" is a very real possibility and I think would be very interesting.

Good tip on the Void. Just doing that tower semi-normally for the clusters might be worthwhile, my casual play experience suggests climbing towers offers the most clusters/min but that might just be casual "eh whatever let's do this" bias.

On effects volume with the dubstep gun: It looks like a tradeoff to me. It starts firing instantly, but the rate of fire seems greatly reduced. Worth testing if the shotgun doesn't pan out.
If you're interested in running any Saints Row games come over to http://www.speedrun.com/saints_row/forum this is where we have route and strats discussions. The place where the void is collected is now as soon as you enter the simulation instead of going to the gun shop grab a car drive to the military base grab the eagle and fly up to the void. You then finish the mission in the void and save it after.

Watch Baqonator WR run http://www.speedrun.com/sr4/run/7306 and you’ll get the basic route and strats.
