Awesome, I had a feeling that was the case. Now all we have to do is clip through the door. It is kind of a difficult to clip through though. What ceiling are you talking about? The ceiling in the room?
Yeah. It's solid near the climbing wall, so we can't get through over there, but it becomes nonsolid about halfway through the room.
EDIT: There are no walls behind the first and second platforms. There is no floor under the first platform. If we could get inside either of those platforms, we could float to the green lum.
I feel we are close to a new break. To clip out of bounds you want to grab the part of the ledge that is closest to the wall. I have an idea to jump to the left while hanging on the invisible ledge to get some extra height.
Nice find. Maybe because it works on either resolution on N64, it may also work on PC. I'll test that once I am so far to try it. First I'm going to F1 through the Canopy up until Sanctuary of Rock and Lava and I'll see whether it works on PC or not...
Holding F1 here also gives me control of an invisible Rayman. But I couldn't hit any loading zone, so the loading may very well just physically not exist, just only for when the cutscene ends. I don't know if death-warping on a different part in the cutscene does anything different, but at least I see that it keeps switching between the cutscene and the invisible Rayman, so he may've been death-warping multiple times. If anyone else wants to test this on PC (N64 probably wouldn't work), that would be nice.
The only way to exit that area in the Canopy is through that cutscene. Manocheese tested with moon jump that there is no loading zone behind the door. Also, I got the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava out of bounds to work on PC.

I figured there wouldn't be a loading zone, so holding F1 there is most defenitely useless. And nice to hear that the out of bounds thing works on PC. Is there a way to skip parts of that level as of now?
No, there is no way to reach either of the green lums or the lower area. Clipping through the door or one of the first two platforms in the room is more promising to skip a part of the level.
I'm going to try out the clip at some point anyway. But I'll believe it if nothing could be skipped. I'd assume clipping back in bounds by going through the spiky plants would just death-warp you.
I tried the clip in Sanctuary of Rock and Lava. It suprises me how easy it is. But I can't seem to get to the Green Lum that's all the way down, just like you guys. While hanging barely out of bounds I was able to be in first-person-view (don't know if that's possible on N64). This is roughly what the whole view looks like. If we just could get to that part where the lava is...
4 first-person-view pictures in one. Never doing that again
Interesting. Something similar can happen if you skip the orange orb. See #3 in this video:

Actually, there are certain parts of the wall that you can go through without dying. Here's a video that shows a safe spot to pass through the wall along with some other stuff:
I'm upset, because whenever you do it on N64, you can see what you're doing. 90% of the time that I do it on PC, the camera goes up against a wall and gets stuck there, so I can't see a darn thing.
Did at that last part you really fall for several hours and then get a freeze?
Nice video Manocheese. I tried clipping through the door for an hour, plus another hour last night but had no luck. Even if we do clip through the door, the angle seems very precise. When I was spamming B to create more lag while holding Z and moving into the corners of the door I managed to see a part of Rayman's body get pushed through the floor for a split second. I think the door clip would be most promising, unless someone finds a way to clip through the second platform. (I have no idea how you could though :/)
That's interesting that you were falling for 2 hours. When I fell it was only like 15 seconds like Kirby just said. I must of not been in the right spot. Perhaps there is a way to avoid the crash and have your height overflow way sooner.
When you said the ceiling above the webbing was solid, how far did it stay solid? I tried damage boosting off of a worm at the up right most part of the web and tried to move closer to the second platform to see if I could boost through the ceiling.
KirbyComment, When I play pc the end button is the equivalent to C-down. I'm using wineskin though since I play on Mac.
Btw, if we did manage to skip to the lower part of the level it would skip ten lums. But there are plenty to be picked up in Echoing Caves and other levels so there would not be a problem.

Wow, I never knew that! That's going to be a pain, because all my buttons are on the left side on my keyboard. And the End button just so happens to be in the extreme upper-right corner. I'll see if it works and if I can manage that...
EDIT: I can't really do it without wasting distance, and at best I can barely poke the lava with my head (and that doesn't even count as a death-warp). So we need more height and less distance for sure!

I'm not sure what you mean. Did the game crash after 15 seconds?

It's solid for quite a while and it slopes upward, so I don't think a boost like that is going to work.

I fell and death warped back to the entrance of the room. My game did not crash. Have you tried falling underneath the first green lum to see if your height will overflow?

On PC, if you just fall without coptering, it takes like 10-15 seconds before Rayman voids out and death-warp. There's no such thing as a crash involved (or at least not that we've seen)
I see. Yeah, whenever you fall for too long without using the helicopter, you die. Using the helicopter allows you to keep falling. I haven't tried falling under the first green lum, but I'm pretty sure it will work the same way as the second one.
EDIT: I've got bad news for the future of Rayman 2 running. We're not going to find any more glitches. In fact, we've never found any glitches, because there aren't any:

We don't let false advertising stop us. You saw me crash the game while spinning in circles on top of a portal. You can't tell me what to do!
I found something strange in Whale Bay. If you activate the cutscene after the barrel hallway and then die (but not from running out of health), the purple lum in the next room will move into position, so you can skip opening the door. I used moonjump to die, but I remember someone posted about rolling into a barrel and getting pushed out of bounds, so that would be a possiblity. This trick would be slower than the lamp jump, though, so it's pointless.
Kirby posted a glitch where if you hold L and stand right where the keg comes out of the keg dispenser you can clip through the floor. It is possible on N64. Maybe if executed quickly it would be faster than opening the door.
Edit: I just found the out of bounds in the barrel room you mentioned and I am making a video of your trick described.
Edit2: Wait I just realized the purple lum moves into position if you already completed whale bay. So maybe I shouldn't make this video…
Edit3:
Quite an odd wall jump if you ask me. Maybe it looks huge cause of the camera angle. >_> The lamp jump is way easier on high res with the pirate alive.
