hi everyone!
After some attempts in hardcore I have admitted.. i cant complete that mode for "speed run"
Well, then I'll try in impossible.

I'm still searching for glitches that can save time: but nothing up to now.
in order to try submit something soon, im trying in any%

There's some example for chapter 1.
I just had one error trying to avoid two enemies but i believe that im making optimal times.

Fortunately I have no problems with the quality of capture but i need tips.
up to now, my goal is sub 3:30

I would like to know the times of the people who have completed the game, doesn't matter the difficult mode.
Thread title:
Get The Coffee
Hey there! just saw the vid, and its quite good, except for the little error of course right after your run in with Danik, but hey Dead Space 3 can be finicky at times. Sub 3:30 seems very reasonable and doable but i have a few questions though

1. Are you planning Single? or Seg?
2. What weapon do you plan on primarily using through the run? Stick with the beginning two or go with one of your own creation?

Thanks and good luck! ill repost my time with just running through and basically no stops.

Well, i'll trust in my skills.. ill use plasma cutter only, and the vid  is just a test, im thinking in do a run in single segment or "maybe" 2 segments.
but my favorite weapon is always the Contact Beam! if i get a opportunity to bluid it, it will be great!

if all works with this run, ill try again with hardcore Tongue

Get The Coffee
Hah, don't blame ya, have you though about crafting the shotgun for the knockback effect? i know it can be made right before you get on the Sk1P but plasma cutter gets the job done, and sorta saves ammo.

And regarding glitches i did encounter one that has to do with audio and might be a time saver, sadly im not youtube savy and youtube doesn't have a video of it, ive managed to reproduce it almost everytime though, so just take my words with a grain of salt. Here's the gist of it though.

When Robert or norton, (i seriously cannot remember his name) opens up a private channel with Clarke when you're on the way to the Sk1P, if you get to the Sk1P before his video ends, the audio for the next sequence, (which is required for the Sk1P to open up at least) will speed up to compensate for how fast you were moving, i believe it has to do with a trigger once you board the Sk1P platform, since if the video is going the audio starts but is on hold until the video ends. Not sure if it saves time, but its hilarious so to speak.
Edit: It's probably just my crap computer. apologies
I'll see what else i can find.

well, the run basically depends of the skills, the only variable is the weapon.
I am considering creating this one.

i got improve 30 secs the chapter 1 and 12s chapter 2, but for the chapter 3 and 4 better weapon is needed.
Well, i have a time update to get on the Sk1P: 41:23
I will focus on optimizing this section for now

nice example but prologue could have been done faster. You can just run by the  necromorphs, and u can breack the windows after the escene of convergence.
made that will save arround 10 secs.

nice tip, and yeah, it saves arround 6 or 7 seconds.
Here are chapter 2 and 3:

For this one, i can't imagine how save time. Its too linear

Chapter 3:
I can not avoid these damages,
so this step only depends of luck.
The worst case is if one necromorph grabs me when i'm re-energizing
maybe just run is an option for easy-mode, but in impossible enemies have no mercy.

Plaining chapter 4:

Great runs so far. I found some things that may help you:

-There are rooms that you can re-enter and the items will keep respawning for you to farm
http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/02/08/dead-space-3-item-exploit/

-weapons crafting guide
http://segmentnext.com/2013/02/02/dead-space-3-weapons-crafting-guide/
I haven't gone through the game myself but the choice depends on attack patterns (groups vs singles), boss weaknesses
the favorites seem to be these 2

1. sniper = heavy frame + military engine + precision tip
2. contact beam = heavy frame + plasma core + precision tip

Knockback Detonator = Heavy frame + Survey Charge + Rail Accelerator

I'm thinking one of the two above AND knockback detonator should be a good combo. The detonator can buy you time while you do tasks without getting attacked.

I have finally decided what weapons to craft,

One Hand-Weapon 1
Planet Craker Plasma Cutter with Military Engine as Sub

Two Hands-Weapon 2
Plasma Core - Precision Tip
Plasma Core - Default.

After a lots of tries i have a sample segment of 1/3 of the game: but it seems that my goal sub 3:30 is not possible, this game is longer compared to the previous two, up to now is some difficult to get tips even here because this game is still relatively new and apparently with bug fixes like the final boss in dead space 1. whith that bug is possible save time.

If someone have time to take a look at this run I appreciate the gesture, I need criticism:
"Hardcore Mode"/Prologue + Chapter 1 to 6 made in about one hour.

Now i have a dude with the categories:

on youtube a guy told me that planet cracker plasma cutter is advantageous, but in my opinion is just a standart weapon.. a little gift from ds2
would be advantageous to use devil horns but the properties of p.cracker are easy to craft.

He also mention that in hardcore then must be 2 categories...with p.cracker and without it.

in my ipinion this should be the categories:

Solo Campaing in all modes
All modes segmented or single segment

Co-Op Campaing all modes
All modes segmented or single segment

Solo Campaing with devil horns
All modes segmented or single segment

Co-Op Campaing with devil horns
All modes segmented or single segment

and all these in any% and 100%

My own is in solo campaing / Hardcore / Single-Segment / Any%
Last time update 3:45:42 " (game timer) after autosave when credits ends"

Devil horns become the difficult irrelevant, i have a enough trining to made the final run, but i need know the categories first.
The Rest Will Flow
As interested as I am in this run, I told myself I wouldn't watch any gameplay footage until I had finished the game myself. But I wish you the best of luck getting it on the site. I've been thinking about a Dead Space 1 run myself.

Keep up the good work, mate Smiley

Thanks man Smiley this will help you with deadspace 1, is my current best record for impossible mode, this isn't in verificacion yet.

In case you're still considering hardcore. Have you tried to pause the game before dying and just reloading or ending the game using the task manager? And then starting up the game again. There are also some glitches to get tungsten and other goods really easily. You'll have to waste about 30-60 seconds each time to do it though but with upgraded weapons, the rest of the fights would be much faster.

search this on youtube "Dead Space 3 - Infinite Tungsten Scavenger Bot Glitch and Infinite Resource Farming" -this relies on using the bot to harvest stuff. save then reload the save game and repeat.

search this on youtube. "Dead Space 3 - Easy farming resources WITHOUT glitch & anywhere in the game!" - this is similar to the glitch above but you simply kill the enemies and get their drops. save then reload and repeat.

search this on youtube. "DEAD SPACE 3_ Infinite Health Packs And Metals Exploit" - this maybe even better. you reload when you see "save in progress" in the top right hand corner and game will place you in a room with lockers, boxes etc to farm.

in fact I've already forgotten the Impossible-mode. my run will be hardcore.
at first I also thought it would be needed resources, but with the weapons that i mention i'll don't need improvements because I skip most of the enemies.
in all game are only one moment when upgrade weapons doesn't waste time: in chapter 4.

and there's only one moment when i would like have a powefull weapons "chapter 16" but upgrade that times maybe takes about 2 min, is longer than defeat the enemies with low weapons.
it's a shame there are no glitches in the chapters that help to save time.. at least so far,
I'm really close to get a single segment! today i got chapter 17.. i know that i can.
after this I'm thinking in do a "pure survival run" segmented.

Hi Sahailaway.

I contacted you on youtube about the planetcracker tip. I may of been rude I am sorry. I would like to see the rest of your run to see if it is advantageous.  I said this because it increases damage and is only available if you have dead space 2 purchased and have a save on it. The increased damage helps later in the game when the enemies get upgraded. Maybe it is not enough to matter but until it can be proven otherwise it seems to me it gives an advantage.

There is many other weapons that defiantly make the game easier that is only accessible through giving EA money. You can buy weapons and also the limited edition (pre-orders) get super guns at the first bench they run into. So I ask should these be in a same category as someone not using them?

Can someone use limited edition (or purchased) weapons and it be in the same category with your run? solo campain / Hardcore / Single-Segment / Any%

don't worry about that :P, in fact Your made me see a new point, as u said: can someone run in the same category with me with special bought weapons??!

This is a good question Tongue

But even if i can use powefull weapons i wont, i like play with the classic weapons "P. cutter and contact beam and force gun"
and apparently we have to guess the category because there's no a run of any dead space yet.

and i have finished the game with de planetcracker tip and default tip, and i can't feel the difference because i upgrade the damage to 100% with each one.
but it's ok for me if my run enters in special weapons category.
www.twitch.tv/didiustv
Well the bar being full does not mean it is upgraded to 100%. The bar system they use for upgrades is confusing. However you can upgrade past the bar being full. The easiest upgrade to tell this is upgrading past the clip size being full on the bar. You will still get more bullets.

The damage bar on one gun can be at the same place as another and do completely different damage. They really should tell you more but we just get these confusing bars.

So the only way to see if the planetcracker tip is an advantage is to test if you can kill certain monsters in 1 less shot than the same upgraded plasma cutter. I do not have time at the moment for all this testing. Although I would like to play with it more at some point.

The reason I bring all this up is the fact I have been trying to run hardcore without the planetcracker tip. I still have a long way to go because I have not had enough time to put into many runs yet. I just wanted to see if I could compare your times with mine or if the planetcracker tip possibly made it faster for these reasons.

For Resident evil 4 are the "Special Weapons" category
but for this game the only special weapon is devil horns, or  maybe will be Newgame+ as "special weapons"
because all powerfull weapons can be crafted

and now u can compare your time vs 3:42:12 i made a faster time with de default type.
Less than the previous time 3:45:42 with the "p.cracker tip". at least for me in hardcore is irrelevant  the type of cutter because that determines the speed is the combination of weapons and use the lowest possible benches

.
You actually finished hardcore?? That's awesome. Youtube it my man. Hopefully we can get you some useful tips.
