huh? do different guns have different AT recharge speed?

OF COURSE THEY DO!!! I also didnt specify i meant to say g3 has slower AT recharge. In the game mechanics guide on gameFAQs it tells the delay between first shot, repeated shots and after delay which is time before AT starts to charge again.
From my own testing i can say this:
Clubs have the fastest AT fill rate.
MGs are 2nd fastest
Pistols third
and i assume shotguns and rifles are 4th but I will most likely only ever touch a rifle for m16 in day 2 as it greatly speeds up fight time and is good until the mp5k in day 3 at the police station.

My testing of day 2 concludes that the m16 is FASTER than the pistols you can use at that point. I clocked the first battle in central park at 26.22 seconds with a pistol and less than 15 with the m16 (it took 2 turns, 1 per snake) and each battle from there would also be faster due to damage output.

Current progress: start of day 4 with 1hr 49m on the clock. I totally screwed up some parts in day 3 (police station) because you have to talk to a few NPCs specifically to progress through to the next part, probably lost 5 minutes.

Probably going to stick with mp5 through hospital and then swap over to g23 that drops from the boss spider for day 5.

Its also a pretty good run through of the game in the details.

I suck. >.< Thank you!
Ok so due to some testing and research i have found that bonus points that you earn through combat is based on your ability to dodge enemy attacks and i thought i heard it is affected by your saves during each "day" but so far this has not proved conclusive so i might break the game down into smaller segments on specific levels. Might take a bit to figure out when i will do it but half of it is from frustration of seeing the START of the game over and over again, I can make it there in reasonable time and i'm comfortable with my speed and pace up to there so I can just run improvements on the sewer as that is the only part of day 1 that gives me any sort of resistance.

Post back soon hopefully with vids ^_^;
Waiting hurts my soul...
I'd suggest you make the first segment be from the start of the game to the very first place you can save to help with your sanity.  Vandal Hearts has a nearly 6 minute intro, and Jak and Daxter might as well call it 7 since you get another cutscene after the tutorial level.  If I were segmenting J&D I'd put one there, so I wouldn't have to watch it over and over again.

Yeah, it's based off of how many hits you take and what you kill. Each monster has a different value for how many BP you get for killing it, and how many you lose when they hit you.

I found this out today when I consulted the official guide. A friend of mine lent me his copy.

It's actually not too hard to make it through Day 1 w/o needing to save.  Some of the later days, however...
I want off the ride....
I thought if you cleared a day without saving (other than between each day) You got a BP bonus ? Or am I just thinking wrong here?
EXCUSE ME. does anybody know if the PEnergy stat in the armor does ANYTHING, or if it's COMPLETELY useless? i've tested equipping an armor with PEnergy 45 or so, and then unequipping the armor so that i have 0 PEnergy in the armor stat.

let's see now:
it has no effect on how fast the PEnergy meter recharges
it has no effect on how much damage you take from "PEnergy" attacks from enemies
it has no effect on how much energyshot does damage
it has no effect on how much PEnergy you use when you use a spell

i even tried gamesharking it to 666 and i still saw no difference in anything. does anyone know what the %¤#% it's for? i guess it was originally supposed to do SOMETHING, but they forgot to program it in the game.

WANYWAY... i just thought i'd say this because it might be useful to know that it's completely useless!!

mp5k takes a little too long to get imo.

according to game mechanics guide, it's a false rumor. i've tested it too, and it doesn't give any bonus.

Yea i'm planning on it now as seeing the first 5/6minutes of the game REALLY start to get on my nerves. Another segment might be the day 2 part with all the talking and when i finally get to central park.

Yea I am looking back at my segment of the police station and i think it would save a good amount of time to skip the MP5k and i'm not sure if its stronger than the m16. Its slower than mp5 but between the time saved by skipping it and possible damage differences, it may be better to just stick with m16 until i beat sheeva and move the stats over to that gun, m9-2.
after some testing and optimizing of crap in day 3 i cut my total time from 1hr 49min at the save after day 3 ends to 1hr 32min. I'm sure i can improve from here but I had a bit of trouble during the boss battle so i'm going to practice a bit more and hopefully i can get it done even faster ^_^;;

According to the official guide, it adds to your base PE, thus giving you more for PE spells. This might be wrong though...

That has always been my understanding of that stat ^_^;
segment 1 5min 54 seconds

i can typically finish day 1 in around 16min 30seconds and this is about 30 faster than usual so hopefully i can get some luck on my final boss battle in day 1 and finish quickly. Unfortunately, the boss alligator at the end of day 1 seems to have a few different patterns for the strategy i use on him so its not always luck that allows you to dodge. I did fight him once yesterday flawlessly with no hits on me but it will be difficult to attempt to get that again. Hope to have a decent finishing of day 1 soon Smiley
Waiting hurts my soul...
You need to take a quality test.  The screen kind of bobs up and down.
i know =_= i need a new tape or something, my shinobi tape works perfect but for some reason this one is trash and yet i opened it AFTER and i am not even recording over shinobi level practicing that were on this tape. Going to go look for the really good quality tapes on amazon and possibly bum some off my dad @_@ i know we have at least 50+ decent tapes that arent being used.  I could use some improvement on day 1 but this is getting close to the pace i want to be at. I may try recapturing after i check to see about the bobbing =_=
Also a question about the cinematics, i can cut them out of the video correct? They do not count towards your time according to a number check i did looking at the first in game clock when you first get control of Aya, I believe the opening cinematic takes a minute or so but the clock reads around 29 seconds.
Waiting hurts my soul...
Not sure about the opening and closing cinematics.  I think most people enjoy seeing the run from the title screen, so unless you can skip it in the game, leave it in the final video.  Ask Mike or Enhasa for ruling on that though.
Lol! i will probably leave it in because i am REALLY lazy. I think its a hardware problem (way to sound like a programmer) with my VCR, i tested with shinobi again on my shinobi tape and its still screwing around. Gonna save up for a few weeks and get me a DVD recorder I've been eyeing at the best buy for a few weeks now.

heres the link to it if anyone is interested:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8708589&st=dvd+recorder&lp=33&type=product&cp=1&id=1199496320397

It says it works with all types and to get around lag i bought some RCA splitters from amazon. I'll keep practicing the game for speed and hopefully i can start putting up more videos when the recorder is back in stock at the best buy, it wasn't there when i was 2 hrs ago T_T

I would say no, given that the timer is going through them, not to mention the audio bleeds into the actual gameplay.
berserker status
Yea, i don't think you can edit out cutscenes if you can't skip them manually already.  they count toward your total time since the official timer won't be stopped.  personally it would annoy me to death to sit through the same sequences over and over again without being able to mash a button to shut 'em up.  But if this run gets completed that'd be nice!  Complete with cutscenes!
I'm going to leave them in Roll Eyes I bought RCA splitters so that if need be, i can record directly to my computer. I have a 500GB Hard drive so i should be OK on space for segments ^_^; My computer is also decently good, i did this testing with shinobi and found no lag/problems on computer side so i should be fine for capturing that way. I will check later today with my test on clean sections of my Parasite Eve tape if it has the bobbing that it had last time and hopefully I wont have to buy a DVD recorder!
Tried everything but to no avail, I bought a DVD recorder and i'm going to do some test runs this weekend, hopefully it was all in just old hardware Smiley
did another run at Day 1 and recorded on DVD recorder, I completed the whole day in 14min 55seconds and that is with several screw ups and saving in the middle of the level, i think i have figured out a good strategy and now i can do possibly 5-10 seconds faster. All i have to do is finalize this DVD and hopefully get a decent copy for putting online Smiley More news later today i hope
Good luck with it! Looking forward to this one.
youtube is the devil... i had to split the video to 3 parts to get it on there, i made a bunch of mistakes so i know i can do better but here are the links

part 3:

enjoy! and it doesnt bob!
