do you mind if i ask why doing all chuck quizmo instances in a row is the fastest method for speed? i don't recall how he works so i'm curious how traveling to a load of different places in a row is faster than possibly catching him him on the way to doing various mandatory things (i'm guessing this isn't possible for some reason).
He's actually slower in a row, but there are 64 quizzes, so I can't really manipulate that many quizzes before I'm done, I think the realistic maximum is like 20, and that is getting like 2/3 of his spawns when you pass through the areas he spawns in. which I didn't go for. I think theoretically a TAS could get them all, but that is only if you make him spawn every possible chance. (Like in segment 6, getting three spawns in DDO, it could be possible, but I wouldn't even set my hopes up for 2 of them realistically). I also don't think my way is the best that I chose to use, I think in the description for the quiz video I explain possible faster routes, but I managed to cut 9 minutes off of planned anyway, and I didn't really want to hold out for something that I'm not even sure is better, but I know for sure is harder to manipulate.

But I did grab him when possible passing through mandatory places (almost every segment possible I think I manipulated him once). There are just a ton of quizzes and he's hard enough to manipulate alone, let alone manipulate him while attempting to not screw up something else. I think I should've manipulated him one more time in regular segments, but thats like a 10-15 second or so save if he's in the right spot. I might come back and make another run at PM 100% after this one, and I promise the first thing I plan to do is figure out EVERY chance I have to get him and manipulate him at least 2/3 of those chances, it will cut down the quiz segments by A LOT.

Just for a little update I do have segment 66, and I'm currently working on 67. I don't really plan to upload 66 until 67 is done just because its really boring. I take a minute to move from one save point to another, the only reason it is its own segment is because the enemy dodging (and ironically not the scare) is a little to irritating to be at the end of the segment before it, and to be at the beggining of the segment after it.

In other news if Noisecrash still reads this. YOUR FRICKEN CRAZY! The route for the lava rooms is incredibly good, and I thank you for planning that out, mine was a little slower and didn't include the damage for the Jr. Troopa fight later; but holy crap man getting all those jumps in a row is going to be difficult, and then the dark room is so friggen irritating after doing all that insane stuff. I guess I'm not to sane because I can do the dark room now, and I'm practicing your friggen route, but just... crap your not making it easy to make the 100% look as good as the any%.

I also hate that I have an extra minute of sidetracking to not screw up inside this segment...

Well everyone I hope to get 67 done this weekend, but if I don't its because Noisecrash has left me attempting the fricken insane route to try and keep up to par.

EDIT: Due to the pain of doing all the jumping and darkness in one segment I decided to cut 67 into two parts because I have the... uh... convenience of going back to grab a badge and passing the save point. It will be around a 10 second loss, maybe a little less, but I'm sick of getting to the dark path and failing after doing the jump parts well. I've done 100 attempts and only have 5 gotten to the dark path, so the segments are difficult enough seperate, though Kudos to Noisecrash for doing them in the same segment.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
39 minutes ahead of schedule, huh? Awesome.

You would have to make a TON of mistakes to blow that. xD

Wish you luck with the segment you have to do in the dark.
Why thank you, the original segment 66 got broken into 3 parts. The good news, not much longer till I'm done!

Doesn't look like you lost too much time on the dark section when comparing the current Any% run and this one.
I hope I didn't lose to much, Noisecrash's is still faster I'm sure and even better considering he did it after the insanity that is segment 67
I've been quietly watching your progress on your run, and seeing as it's almost done, I am very excited to see it when it's submitted to SDA. Great job and keep up the good work, I was really blown away how you could navigate the dark part without Watt... that must have took a great deal of practice, props to you.
It's thanks to Noisecrash that I knew it was possible. If not I would've still done most of it in the dark, but the parakarry spots I would've lit up with Watt. It's pretty difficult, but looks awesome when done properly.

I have to admit I haven't really been following the thread, life is busy etc. etc., but I'm glad to see there's a 100% run actually nearing completion. There've been a few people that have come along and had runs sort of fizzle out, but hopefully we can finally get a 100% run up there too.

If I recall correctly, I think Floogal pointed out most of those jumps (on a side note I can't believe it's been like three years since I started working on that run) and I might've only figured out a couple things, like using Parakarry in a couple spots to avoid having to wait and that method for taking damage in the lava. I just don't like taking all the credit for it, to this day I can't stress enough how much work he put into it.

Keep it up man, the home stretch is the best part. I remember once I knocked out segment 49 I was completely rejuvenated for the rest. I don't know your plans, but hopefully you won't need the same stupid amount of luck I did for final Bowser! Tongue
hey hey hey!!
By the way noisecrash, i never thanked you for mentioning me in your paper mario run notes or whatever they are called, but unfortunately i did not finish the run like i planned on doing because, well, i honestly just lost interest.  The fact that Raiker Z has soo much patience and is actually finishing this run is ridiculous and give him props on it.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I take it Raiker must be pretty busy lately, since there haven't been any updates for a while. :3
I blame the 3DS and pokemon white for that Raiker guys absence *cough*
Ok catchup time:
Noisecrash - I give you credit where it is due, your run was what I based my route off of, so I give you credit, if you give Floogal credit then so am I, since your run is based off of what he helped with, and sadly I may end up using the same idea as you, except I'll be using a repel gel somewhere in there, faster or not if it helps me with reliability I'll use it, not like I had to go out of the way to get it.

Pyromaniac - yes, this run is a bad idea to start out with, I'm lucky I had a good any% to work off of, I'm not sure when you started but the old 5:04 I couldn't even really watch :\ all the mistakes just made me flinch, but since that was the first run that's probably all that we knew about back then (Although someone said they don't use the Mega Rush method? uh... maybe not)

The last thing is just to say I finally pulled myself away from pokemon white/other games and did a few segments, sometime this week I'll work on the FINAL SEGMENT! I'm 46 minutes ahead of my speed test now, and only one fight left.

Here are segments 69, 70 and 71 in order

Ok, someone please correct me if this wont work it has been ages since I've fought Bowser and I promise you the last time I wasn't speedrunning it.

Final Fight Plans:
Turn 1: Mario: Super Jump Charge - Parakarry: Shell Shot - Bowser: Flame
Turn 2: Mario: Power Bounce 9-5 - Parakarry: Shell Shot - Bowser: Star Rod Charge
Turn 3: Fail the star beam - Twink
Return to fight.
Turn 1: Mario: Super Jump Charge - Parakarry: Shell Shot - Bowser: Flame
Turn 2: Mario: Repel Gel - Parakarry: Shell Shot - Bowser: Any but charge or heal
Turn 3: Mario: Super Jump Charge - Parakarry: Shell Shot (If not hit) - Bowser: Any but charge or heal
Turn 4: Mario: Power Bounce 12-9 (8 or 7 if Parakarry is hit) - Parakarry: Shell Shot (If needed) - Bowser: Dead.

This should work, the first round should take off 45 hp, and the remaining should finish it up, although 9-5 for the first power bounce would be nice the final power bounce can cover for a mess up on that or Parakarry getting hit. The repel gel would be so that I don't need to luck manipulate two misses like the any% does. Anything else that comes up I'd have to handle during the segment, this fight is a little long so I can't expect it to go perfectly to plan, this is just what I hope will happen.

Any critique, I heard that Bowser commonly does the fire breath first after the fight, but I haven't done this fight recently and that bit is only a minor annoyance if he doesn't, what I'd like to know is if anything important wouldn't work out. Like I said this fight I haven't done since before I started planning this run I'm just using the any% strategy and manipulating it with what i've got to make it easier.

EDIT: Just a bonus video of the optional bosses, I eneded up making it, I'm not sure if I should send this in with the others though.

Hmm, too bad your partners can't use items. It looks good so I'd stick with it. That repel gel does waste a turn.

EDIT: I got it! You use Super Jump Charge first turn and 5-bounce for 35, with two Shell Shots. Next Phase you Jump Charge Shell Shot, then Repel Gel Shell Shot. Next turn you Power Bounce, then you shell shot for 45. Then you finish him off with a jump. Let's do the math. 45+45=90+ a jump which is 6+6=12 so 90+12=102. A jump has a shorter action command time with a Power Bounce, and it uses less FP, which isn't an issue <_<.
Fuzzy pickles!
Just voicing my support of the run, Raiker. I've been lurking on SDA for a while now and remember when you first started your run. Good luck with the final segment(s)!
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Hehe, awesome videos there Raiker.  Just one more to go, eh? :3
Just to clear it up qwerty, the second rounds power bounce starts at 12, you missed a turn of invulnerability. Repel gels last for two turns, turn 1 is application turn 2 is a charge. This is basically using the any% strategy but ignoring the close call misses, the badge is left on though just in case something goes wrong honestly its the final fight I'm not going to hold out for something like the any%'s anything where Bowser dies and I don't waste a lot of time is good, this is just my strategy to try and get it done quickly. Like the anti guy squad fight in that bonus, yes I could go for a perfect fight but unless I want to suffer several hundred resets its better to work with what I've got. I guess racing sort of grows on you, mistakes don't mean anything correcting your mistakes without losing a lot of time is better.

Anyway I'll probably begin working on this on Wed's or Tues I got bored of pokemon white, all that I really have left is collecting the last few TM's and grinding up a team which I really don't care about I have about 140 of the 150 pokemon in the regional pokedex and idc about the full one. I can say I'm done with that without any regret.

Thanks for the support been a long long time filled with a lot of difficulties and... me getting distracted (LOOK A BIRDY! Lets take a week off) ^.^ After this segment comes submitting and getting it rejected (We all know this will happen, this is my first attempt at a run I'll have done something wrong) Cheesy

I've been watching your videos on YouTube, and I have to say, I'm amazed so far. ^^ Got up to the quiz segments last night.

Have a little more faith in yourself. :3 This looks great. *thumbs up*

YAY!!!  Looks good except for the jumping during the ending. Tongue That just looked silly. XD

I did read your comments about it on YouTube, I just giggled at it when I watched the video.  Odd time to be randomly given control back. ^^;
Based on the any% timing method that is after the timing Tongue but ya, I hadn't beaten the game in quite awhile and I thought Luigi was going to walk me to the castle. I don't want to redo the segment to fix that just because of how well the fight went, and the any% timing ends after Bowser is defeated.
Your run is finally completed, how does it feel? XD Overall I think you did a fantastic job playing, routing etc as well as the help and input from others that have helped you along. Hopefully this run will get accepted (I don't really see why it wouldn't, unless the timing is actually at some point after Bowser is defeated and you wasted that time jumping :p). Do you think you will ever try to do an any % run of the game?
The timing stops when Bowser dies, unless they change the time of the any% too it shouldn't matter, why change the time of a run just to screw someone out of 8 seconds anyway. If someone improves this it has to be by a minute anyway 8 seconds shouldn't matter.

I would try an any% I'm sure I can cut it under 3:30, but aside from Chapter 7 it would be just small improvements and his route, before I make an attempt at beating it I'd at least like to have more then "Everything but Chapter 7 was in the old run" that doesn't feel right. I may end up working out a single segment route, but I'm not sure I'd record that.
