alpha 4; avi functionality implemented (but not tested as part of anri-chan yet); sources updated.

did it with xvid_encraw and ffmpeg.
Excellent. Thanks, nate. I'll take a look at these over the weekend.
ok, alpha 5 (uploaded) is actually working now. had to cut the avisynth production into many itty bitty pieces because i couldn't echo anything of worth from inside if blocks. also fixed a major problem with d. this is starting to get really messy but i knew exactly what it was when i was going in so it's no big deal to me. pretty damn hard to read though, good luck.

if you want to try it out, unrar it in c:\program files\ (which must also be your program files directory), then run anri.bat. will ask you a bunch of questions and hopefully make the 7 sda files correctly from the source. should be pretty easy to substitute an anri.ini for the questions in the case of making preferences. that will be beta 2 at the earliest though.

still on track for beta 1 release by sunday (hopefully with the installer working). will appreciate all the beta testers i can get at that time.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.

no trimming atm, was just thinking about that actually. actually i think it may be solvable by making people do it on their dvd recorder. even on write once media you can do it afaik (before you finalize obviously).

Many DVD recorders don't have that functionality.

Cool, I have Monday off, and that Willow run to eventually send in (It's just sitting on my HD in VOB form at the moment), so I'd be down with being a beta tester.

Nate, looks like mvbob.avs and anri.bat got messed up in the upload.

yeah will have to look at letting people trim. i hope to god it will keep the dgindex instance open while the person trims. otherwise will have to split anri-chan in half, one half run before trimming and one half run after. and it will be a lot, lot more prone to user error.

ok cool. actually hard drive is supported right now, you just have to put the VIDEO_TS folder with the vobs in it at the root level of some drive letter, e.g. C:\VIDEO_TS, then put in that letter when anri-chan asks for the dvd drive letter.

not sure what you mean. i'll upload everything not in a rar then.

Despite everything you're doing to make this easy to use, it'll probably still be worth putting up a video (say, to YouTube, or embedded flash) showing how to use it.

It might all seem self-explanatory to you, but you are trying to make this as easy as possible.  It would certainly be worth doing by the time you get 'round to the first 'proper' version.

definitely going to have a how to in the kb.

video version isn't a bad idea either actually, cool.
Existence as you know it is over
I could be a beta tester if PC run processing is included, most likely won't get a dvd recorder until end of the year.

Carriage returns were being taken out... so it looked like a block of text.

edit- It still does it.. so it's not the rar'ing.
it's unix text. sorry, i use radixedit for text in doze usually so i don't realize what type of text things are. open in wordpad. can then save to make dos text.

Just to be clear, all you need in the directory is the VOB files, as long as the directory is called VIDEO_TS, right?
need also to be called what they were originally called, but yes.

Speed is the key.
My folder is called DVD_RTAV and the movie file is called VR_MOVIE.VRO.

Is this a big problem? :-/
dude i totally forgot about those kinds of vobs. i'll probably have to put in a question about that.

once decompressed, run install.bat. let me know what happens. keep in mind this is still early beta and things may explode randomly.

system drive letter other than c: should be resolved though. let me know if that's working if that's you. other than that, still need to implement preferences (anri.ini), dvd-ram vob names, statid preview and maybe look at trimming. now would probably be a good time for me to start on that df list in the kb too.

welcome to the machine
Be sure to include a cropping filter for Game Boy Player runs.

I have no idea if you have or not - I'll find out tomorrow, when I anri-chan a segment both as a beta and as a way to get feedback on it.
no way to do it because the cropping settings change depending on the dvd recorder.
welcome to the machine
Pity.

How would one crop then?  Can you put a filter on a direct stream copy in vdub?

From what I can tell, it installed AVISynth okay, as in the prompt and installer came up and everything, but then a bunch of text scrolled by way too fast in the anri-chan installer and the window disappeared. There's an anri-chan icon on my desktop now, so I'm about to give that a go (I have the run burned on DVD!) and we'll see what happens.

Also, more cosmetic than anything, but whatever that echo off command is supposed to do, it doesn't seem to be working. For all the instructions, I get "echo (command)" and then "(command)" again.

EDIT: Ooh, it's doing something! Let's see what the result will wind up being...

EDIT 2: It's asking me for a D, either 1 or 4. This is for my Willow (NES) run. lol hlep lol?
oops yeah lol, i guess i forgot to put a final pause ("press any key to continue") after the "anri-chan is now installed!" message in the installer. comes from running it in a window that's already been made instead of just double clicking it (on my part). this will be fixed for beta 2.

about echo off, it's been remarked out ("rem") so that in case something happens to a beta teser, (s)he can take a screencap so i can see what anri-chan is running. again, this will change in a future version (most likely 1.0).

good news that anri-chan has been able to create a legal avisynth file and run an encoder though. do keep me up to date.

about gba stuff, i know it sucks, but i can't think of any way right now to get around it. maybe i will eventually figure it out, or someone can come up with something in the interim.

Okay, I'm trial-and-erroring this for now, but you typoed in one of the commands.

After GOTOing to NES, you have "type type (blahblahresize.txt)". I don't think it liked the second "type", it gave a "cannot find the file specified" error.

EDIT: Just pointing out that it's a good thing you're (Or Mike is, one of the two) torrenting the run "proper" from me, as I'm sure I screwed this up at some point, particularly entering the statID. Heh.

I guessed at D1, by the way. Hopefully it works out.

EDIT 2: Ooh, it's encoding. Very slowly, but eh.
lol. thanks for finding that. it's not very dangerous but still important.

what game are you encoding again? everyone should feel free to ask about d and f in this thread as the d and f page in the kb still needs a lot of work.
Talk to the Hand
This is Willow, for NES. Like I said, I took a shot at D1. If I guessed wrong, well, it's not a huge deal from my end (I'm mostly testing to see if everything works more than trying to get a sendable-to-SDA file right now).
