OoT [N64] Segmented [Suspended]

Yeah - Segment 6 is on placeholder. I'm going to kick myself, but waiting 1 more second before entering Thieve's hideout would have made it daylight...and then I could see easily.

It's not so easy to see the markers in the dark, and the map does not help enough - it is not accurate enough.

Still, I know I can backwalk the entire way. So I will probably redo it.

You can sidehop through? Oh jeez.

Yeah, in AKA's 4:40 run he backwalked and sidehopped the whole time. Blew me away. Shocked

Yeah, that's when he was an Adult. The Adult Timing is easier...and you can see more area as an Adult because the camera is positioned higher. It's just a very, very small issue that's preventing me from doing this segment all backwards and stuff, but I'll work around it.

Speed is the key.

I really liked Guano's movement through shadow. It was much better than the other parts of the TAS.

I think he made a comment that he would probably redo the run, after he's done with this one. I think he's gotten used to "how to move" in OOT. Nonetheless, the run is pretty impressive.

He's been persistent, to say the least.

I'm still not clear as to the advantage of doing the adult temples early. The cutscenes will be skipped, sure, but when you are using millions of bombs and the hover glitch, does it even save any time (or is it actually slower?). Someone (I wish I was better at the new glitches and could test it out) should actually sit down and time how long it takes to do the adult temples as a child versus just going through the game without it.

If you are about even with both, obviously do the adult temples as a child, as that is just badass.

Adult temples as a child isn't even worth considering in my opinion. I dunno why it was brought up in the first place.

I don't know if it's known, but you can use Super Slide to get through acute angles. I found this out earlier today while messing around with it.

Maybe it can be used to bypass the block in Shadow Temple. (The one where the ship is)

Segment 5:

-Backwalking to Gerudo Valley lost a bit of time.

-If you roll into that crack between the boxes, you'll go right on top of them, but I'm sure that's what you were trying to do.

-Are you sure that's the best place to enter Thieve's Hideout? No matter what entrance you use, you will always be at the entrance nearest the ladder when you savewarp.

Segment 6:

As you said, this was a placeholder, so it's okay that it's a bit slow.

There aren't any acute angles there, though...

I tried for a long time to find a weak wall around there, but didn't come close. Then again, I'm terrible when it comes to glitch-hunting....

Oh well, that's not fixable now. The trade off of getting the Cucco jump on try 1 is just too frustrating to have to redo. But I will note that this is another segment where significant seconds could be picked up.

Yeah, Segment 6 is so short, and so easy...it's just oh man...I'll hold off on redoing it later, when I'm even more in tune with this game.

Segment 7/8/9 will have to wait for a bit, till next week. I'm off to Comic-Con, then next week I start my new job, which is work from home for a month, and I'll be able to do a lot more work.

I think when I get to Adult section, I'll just redo 4/6 then.

So...anyone heard from AKA?

Just a quick question.

We can do the infinite sword glitch with deku sticks, right? Does anyone know if we can light a deku stick like that, and will it remain on fire because we are doing the glitch? I know the glitch can reset between rooms, but it's just something to consider. Maybe the Deku Tree?

don't know, I know becuase of how it works it is impossible to do w/ flame storage... but as far as leaving it burning I have no clue.... Wait no, I believe I tested that down below... that is a no go.

Damn, I was hoping that consistently stabbing at an insane rate would trick the game in thinking that the deku stick is still burning.

Flame Storage doesn't work and the Deku Stick will burn out in both OoT and MM.

No Silver Gauntlets.

I use two Bombchus to get into Dodongo's Cavern, + 3rd to open door in segment 10. So I will have 7 bombchus, but I will be getting bombs. So we'll be safe.

(looking through the first post): I don't know, maybe you should try and redo segment 5 as well, if it is confirmed that you can enter any part of thieves hideout. I know i know, the cuckoo jump is sooo hard, but its just such an easy little time saver, and we want this game done as good as possible!

Segment 6 needs backwalking (or at least rolling!) bleh...
