ZAR you have a deathwarp in seg. 4 that seems odd. wouldnt that take you back to links house i.e. you have to redo escape the forest? i would imagine that would be slower than just backwalking to the lake
Eeeeyah!
Nope, that'll take you back to the start of Kakoriko.

Oh whoops savewarp != deathwarp. lol

i hope we can get sub 1 hr, it would be great.

as far as using RBA to get magic, im not 100% sure but i believe magic is stored at a LOWER address then even the deku stick item slot, so there's no way unless somebody can figure out something new and outstanding.

Something that should be added to the Route would be to put a Death Warp in DC after getting the bomb bag. It'd make it much quicker to get out of the dungeon since we can't save to the entrance.

Wouldn't that death warp put you in the last room you entered, or in dungeons does it take you to the entrace?

Either way, what would you kill yourself with up there? If you had half a heart then a bomb would do it, but then you'd have to look for other places to take damage without wasting time. By the time it takes you to take damage, die, and restart, you could probably jump down and leave in the same amount of time.

EDIT: Ok, I checked. It does take you to the entrance, and it's very easy to take damage in DC and have half a heart remaining so you can use a bomb to kill yourself. The lava, the bomb explosions at the beginning and for the stairs, etc.

I doubt that deathwarping will be faster in either DC or kakariko. For kakariko, you will probably want to save in the well because having the forest escape + cucco bottle + backwalk to LH for scarecrows song and ending the segment with DoT skip will be hell. Even if you don't save in the well, its still faster to backwalk out of kakariko. After getting bombs, just jump back to the platform you originaly jumped to, go to the main roon and sidehop off the bridge to the entrance.
nope deathwarp out of DC does not save time and just looks sloppy compared to leaving DC through the main room. Even if leaving through there is a few seconds (which i doubt) shorter, at least the run would be visually pleasing and not have abuses deathwarp before it
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Ok i'm having some trouble escaping the forest

I did an old file and managed to do the door skip =D

However, I can't get the freaking kokiri escape thing

Any pointers tips? Angling advice? Anything.. would help

Gratz btw on the new finds!

I have a question about using the Requiem to get across the broken bridge.

If I warp to the Spirit Temple as an adult, then go backwards through the Haunted Wasteland, can I get past the unopened gate between Gerudo Fortress and the Haunted Wasteland?
Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
Yes, easily.

Walk up to the gate and one of the Gerudo will catch you.

Of course, you need the hookshot, or else you'll be dumped in the river, completely undoing everything you just did.

make it so you can only see 1 eye of the business scrub, the tree is blocking the rest. that means you're really far out. the other thing you have to worry about is height. be high enough to get over the bridge rope but low enough so that when you start the megaflip you dont miss the deku nut

the angle itself is pretty lenient and isn't very hard to get, just go in first person and make sure you're a bit to the left.

i've done it 3 times on a console, the last time it only took 2 tries. i've never used any aligning tricks to get the angle, i just went into first person and used my own judgement

I am fairly experienced with the Kokiri Forest exit (I've done it about five times), and I can't think of any advice to give you, other than:

- Watch the video. Carefully.
- You can get on to the bridge with a fairly wide range of angles. If you can still see the deku salesman on the right side of your screen after your first or second sidehop, you probably aren't angled far enough to the left (well, that's how it works on my TV anyway, might be different on other TVs).
- Have a look for a small faded patch on the wall to your left when doing the sidehops (not the large one near the KF entrance, the small one closer to the deku salesman). This is about where you should megaflip from. Make sure to get as much height as possible, but not too much to get the deku nuts to hit your shield.
- Don't hold the control stick forward when rolling before the megaflip, and backflip ASAP after rolling. The roll should be started at about the same time the salesman spits out the nut.

Good luck. Smiley

Here's an interesting question for those who know more about the game than I do - If I do the DoT skip with nothing in my inventory except for the Kokiri Sword and Deku Shield (which I just did), is it possible to complete the game? And would this be a good trick for a low% speedrun?
Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
wouldn't you need a bottle for RBA?

I did another test run, using ZAR's route this time and it works perfectly. The only thing that should change about the route is if you optimize all of the hyrule-crossing and death mountain trecking, you should be able to get back to kakariko with the odd mushroom just before night so you can buy some arrows at bazaar.

Something that I didn't get to put in fun facts: The kokiri emerald cutscene is strange as adult. The deku tree starts out dead, then after the godesses cutscene he is alive again, then he dies...again. Strange.

I don't think it's possible. You'd need a bottle to do some RBA stuff to get enough items. You could probably get the hookshot and go to forest temple and get the bow, but I don't know what you'd do from there. Actually, no, you couldn't. Since you'd need bombs to skip stuff in that temple. So yeah, I don't think you can complete the game.

Wow I didn't know about the green, blue, and bronze gauntlets. You guys probably do but for those who don't...

This is mixing pocket cucco RBA with the strength upgrades you get normally

You could do it the normal way Tongue

Cool. You gonna add that to your RBA chart?

Already done Cheesy

Infact I just did a major update to left-side equipment, showing the effects of strange items such as the fishing rod in slot 4.
Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
I suppose the gauntlets have the same color palette as Link's tunic

Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, White, and Black.

You just don't use all of them in a normal game.
This statue's one-eyed gaze pierces into your mind
So it turns out the 30 Quiver I found with Pocket Egg RBA isnt a 30 quiver at all but rather something that increases the item on the 1st slot for CHILD LINK by 4.

So if you had 40 seedbag and got the "30 quiver" it would put a 50 quiver in that slot, which affects CHILD LINK's seedbag capacity. You can get new stuff like a 10 capacity slingshot using this, but it will never let you hold arrows.

I now understand pretty much all of how left-side equipment is stored and how it works.
Remember Aprils fools, guys Wink
#speedrunslive to race games!!!
happy april Smiley anyway post here if you read this on the first of april and think that crouch stabbing is the hardest glitch in oot and that the dot skip is something a first time gamer who has never heard of this game before could do in less than 5 minutes after turning the n64 on. Smiley Wink Cheesy
torch slug since 2006
I FOUND A WAY TO BEAT THE GAME AS CHILD. YOU GOTTA DO THE DOT SKIP, AND SKIP THE CUTSCENE THAT YOU GETS OLD, THEN GET THE MASTER SWORD AS CHILD, AND GO TO CASTLE COURTYARD OR WHAT ITS CALLED (WHERE GANON IS WHEN ADULT) AND JUMP SLASH THE GATE AND LINK WILL FLY INTO GANONS CASTLE!! COOL HUH??! I UPLOAD VIDEO SOOON.

Anyway, what im saying is that you can actually skip all the temples. Sorry for my Caps ^^ but if we do that way we probaly can get oot april fools ^^ i was lying -sub0:30 if executed right. What do you think

Read above
"I need to get those damn frog coins!"
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the loading point for Ganon's Castle existed as a child; after all, all other loading points do (Deku tree, carpenter's tent, etc.) it's just too high up to reach even with glitches...

Then again, I'm not sure.

ZomFG OoT sub 30! First you have to get chus and 10 deku nuts, then do DoT skip, but instead of going towards the master sword, let it push you back into the void. Wait 3 seconds and jumpslash and you will land on something. Now do a 90 degree turn and sidehop left 7 times and you will be in Gannons tower! Now when you get to ganondorf, don't fight. Go down to the botton and bombchu clip in the pillar. You will land on a platform and if you attack, it will hurt ganondorf WITHOUT EVEN USING LIGHT ARROWS! So kill him, escape and fight gannon. He will knock out your kokiri sword, so you have to use deku nuts. Then get the sword back (master sword on B as child) and kill gannon!

Ok most of that was an april fools joke (gannon should have given it away if you partially believed that) but the part about bombchu clipping is actually a theory I've had for a while. If you use the roll C^ glitch and look down in the pillar, you will see something. I'm not sure if its a solid platform or a beta image, but we may be able to use it to beat g-dorf as child. If anyone with AR/GS w/e can try some stuff out with it, that would be great.

Cosmo., was that last post an april fools joke? You did update your RBA chart with it though. If it is real, do you think you can make a video of it?
