Considering the time taken to do the forest exit, and the fact that the forest exit and Gerudo gate skip would probably have to be done in the same segment, the non-BA speedrun potential of the forest exit is looking pretty bad. Sad

guys, we already knew forest exit was slower before it was even found. Me and Yauty had said something about it a while ago, but it can only be effective if you can skip deku tree. This is one reason why I want to find a way to get Odd Potion to C-right.

Is'nt it just to go to Gerudo Fortress and equip it to C-right?
Or are you talking about Bottle Adventure, I really want to know how to do BA and RBA.

Err you get the odd mushroom from gerudo's fortress. If you want to learn how to do BA/RBA check out acrytes previous 'lengthy posts' best tip is to try it out yourself a few times though. Youll understand the logic after a while.

If you look at the quiver section, it says bomb bag(Holds 30). Your bomb bag place says bomb bag 40 and guess what? Its actualy 40 Cheesy

Kirby, did you get the fairy ocarina as kid? If you didn't, then get it as adult. Its funny. You can now keep the fairy ocarina forever.

Currently BA is very limited in scope and because of it's lower limit of 44 and it's upper limit of FF+44 we have a small area to work with... even smaller when you add the fact that we need to be able to put the requisite items on a C button in order to manipulate it... meaning we not only have to be able to aquire them, but we also need to be able to equip them. And the fact that only bottles can be put into the items inventory, and that all the buttons that items can be directly equipped to are at memory addresses lower than 44 it seems pretty much impossible to even think about getting an Odd Potion to C-right.

And it probably is.

Anyways, the only way I can even fathom getting an Odd Potion into our inventory, AS WELL AS BEING ABLE TO EQUIP IT AS A CHILD is if we figured out EXACTLY how Bombbag into Inventory glitch works in full. Then we can determine if we can manipulate other items like that, maniplate what is put there, etc.

Why does it place the bombbag in the Bombchu slot? (4D) ... I thought i had an answer at least for why it was that spot until i realied the bombchu spot is 4C...

Also, want to determine the exact cause of this phenomenon.

I mean, it's very farfetched and I'm sure that you can't write anything but a bombbag (20) to a given memory address, but technically I want to at least solve it and say for absolutely sure that is the case. Because techincally if you could write an Odd Potion into the inventory at the bombchu slot then it would be equippable as a child.

Basically there are 4 things in OoT we can't explain or even try to on a technical level (down to each step).

Ocarina Items - ...
bombbag (20) to inventory - Why the bombchu slot, and why displace it?? How is it working?
Bottle B - (why it duplicates the bottle if you do Ocarina Items with an item that cannot be pulled out) Let me note that this is not only limited to B but you can do it from 1 C button to another just as easily.
Prize Upgrade - Maybe it's not an easter egg... maybe it is, but who knows for sure.

my question is can anyone do a speedrun of Oot by the normal way. I mean, first Deku-Baum then Dodongos Höhle and then Jabu-Jabus-Bauch.
I hope you know what I mean.
I always have seen a speedrun there comes first Deku-Baum and the Jabu-Jabus-Bauch, but that's not the natural way to visit the dungeons you know? :-/ . I hope so.

I know lol I wasn't trying to do BA in that video. I tried later to attempt it and I got a bomb on B cause I think I messed up. :-/

What I tried to say was what new items could you get on B? if I understand it right, zora mask links to swords&shields, so before the kokiri sword was always active. now that it's not, that's some new stuff.

for example what would just the master sword give you? (no shields or other swords)

I'm having trouble with your charts, i admit I do not have a good knowledge of BA like you or kazooie.. only the basics

Im currently playing through OOT. Seeing how far i can get. Im currently talking to zelda first time. No Shield or Sword. Just deku sticks, deku nuts, ocarina. and Chicken egg.

EDIT : K, i got deku shield now. after i was in lost woods and learned sarias song i buyed a deku shield :d now i just go through the rocks that i blowed and i go to dodongo cavern.

Edit 2 : K, im stuck. Im in dodongo in the room where you have to shoot with your slingshot the holes. in the roof, what shall i do? or is this the end?

As long as it is faster to do Jabu-Jabu's Belly first, I wouldn't get my hopes up for that kind of run. All that matters to most people around here is speed. Wink

or you could go back to deku tree and complete it right now (getting slingshot in process)

If you really want to see a "normal" speedrun of OoT, then I'd suggest TSA's now ancient 4:57 single segment run. It's basically the intended route throughout. Just do a search on archive.org, or google video and you'll find it no problem.

I was wondering about the bomb bag to bombchus too. I did a little test a while back to see if something similar would happen with slingshot. I skipped it and came back to colect it as adult. Nothing happened. I also got the upgrade from the slingshot game(when you have no slingshot it assumes its the 50 upgrade) and got it as adult and the only thing that happened is my "50" bag turned to 30 <_<. So it must be a certain relasionship between bombs and chus if it doesn't work with the slingshot. Or possibly something to do with the slots memory adresses?

djs, use well positioned sidehop jumpslashes to pass the flames or kill youself in them with a fairy.

Damn, no segment 7 for me today either. I believe I'm past 300 attempts, btw. It's just a matter of time, since I can do the first 7 minutes (up to the guards) perfectly 90% of the time now.

What if you used BA with Zora Mask on C-right, with no Kokiri Sword? That means new BA possibilities, right? I don't know what items to put on B and C-right as an adult, though.

All how I can help you is that. You can get new items on B button with early forest leave and beat game without kokiri sword. There is also another way get rid of your kokiri sword and even all your boots. You just need use RBA as a child with goron and zora mask. Catch right things on your B button bottle to get rid of them. I can do video of it to you Roll Eyes

I have tested those but I was too lazy to make video of it, sorry :-/
If I remember correctly you can just get bomb bags and other useless items what will freeze your game or they turn out blue fire Tongue

I believe I just got a nice segment 7 recorded, I'm gonna watch it and compare it to Mp16's segment 6 (which is the same part). I might want to improve it some more before I move on.

Edit: Well, I timed my segment 7, and it's seems that I am about 45 seconds faster than Mp16. I'm still not entirely satisfied, so I'll try to improve it a bit further.

OK! I got past the room! Im uploading video of it! All you need is to get a quarter off like, (a 1/4 of a heart). Then jump in the corner off the flame and start holding the stick forward and tapping A (when the fairy reviving is in progress), when you start you will roll and jump over!

Manocheese's run does the first three dungeons in the correct order, but that's pretty much the only thing that is "normal" about it. All five of the dungeons he does (six if you include Ganon's Castle) use major shortcuts.

Yeah, that's a good trick. But I prefer Manocheese's, as it can be done in any (ie. no fairies) runs.
