Nice.  Keep at it.  I'm really looking forward to these runs.

Congratulations! I played Shadow Warriors for the first time a month ago. Everything went smoothly until 6-2 and 6-3 (6-2 edited) where I used a long time to get through (A LOT more time than 1-1 to 6-2). Before 6-2 I didn't even realize how to use the special-weapons, I just 'powered through' with ordinary slashing, didn't need the special weapons at all. (There was a jump in 5-x where I used a couple of attempts to get it right: Where you hang on a mountain-wall, low on the screen, and have to jump to the right over a pit).

But when I finally got to the boss in 6-4, I didn't have full life, died, and had to start back again at 6-1. As I found 6-2 and 6-3 A LOT more difficult than anything else in the game up to it, I just turned off my NES. I haven't played it again since. I enjoyed the game until 6-2 though.

The ending of 6-3 (edit 6-2) has an absolutely mental difficulty-level, probably the most difficult scene I have ever encountered in a game. The stage 2 of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a piece of pizza compared to it. I don't understand why people think that underwater-stage is difficult (I did it on my third attempt first time I played TMNT with 47 seconds left on the clock. I had to find out where all those bombs were located first).

Please don't tell me that you have to start back at 6-1 if you die at the 7-4 or 8-4 bosses. If so, I will definitely never play Shadow Warriors again. Truly bizarre game, going from rather easy (1-1 to 6-1) then to absurd difficulty (6-2).

The PAL-version seems very fast-paced.

Off course you have Cheesy ( IIRC )

I haven´t figuried all teh version differences myself, yet.

No attempts on NG3 today but definitely a few hours tomorrow.

I was really surprised I had to go back to 6-1 when I died at the 6-4 boss, as I never had to go back to 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 or 5-1 when dying.

I almost beat the 6-4 boss, but 6-2 was really absurd IMHO (if you die and don't have a ninja-star, you can just as well die on purpose and start over).

I thought it was a really good game though (except the last part of 6-2).
Talk to the Hand
Actually, 6-2 is the level that gave everyone nightmares back in the day. 6-3 is hard, but not as throw-your-controller frustrating as 6-2. At least to me.

And yeah, you go back to 6-1 after any of the last bosses (Which, to nitpick, take place in 6-4, 6-4 again, and 6-5). The good news is that you can start on whatever boss you were at before you died (So if you beat the first two bosses and died on the third, when you made it back through Act 6, you fought the third boss straightaway).

Heh, that is good news! Perhaps I will play it again then. When I was pegged back to 6-1, I wanted to find out how many stages there were in the game. I therefore peeked at a walkthrough on the net which I thought was for Ninja Gaiden I, where it said act 8/8-4 was the last stage, but it was probably a walkthrough for another Ninja Gaiden game Grin

Played through to the first stage 6-4 boss again. Actually it was right before the last part of 6-2 I meant was so difficult. Stage 6-3 has it's moments too though. I was really fed up with getting knocked down into the pits - DOOOOFF

Anyway, game completed (20.03.07). From day one I played it at the fastest pace possible for me (of course). 6-2: scrolling the guy out makes it easier. The second boss form in NGI (6-4) must be the most difficult thing in a speed run of the game(, without any special weapon).

How's that Ninja Gaiden III run going, Frezy?

16:25 is my best run. 1 death made the run 15 seconds slower or so. I don´t want to send this one. I´m very busy for the moment. I can´t play games at all (almoust) I hope I can get a better run soon. But I´m not sure =/

HEY. I GOT ONE!

16.00-16.01 I think with SDA timing. I know I can get a better time. 15:30 would be possible I guess... But I will submit this one annyway. I´m not motivated to get a better run. Kiss
sounds awesome. i look forward to encoding it.
Cigar Man
Ninja Gaiden III is a hard game, so 16:00 sounds like a good time.  Nice job!

Yes, a ninja riding a tiger.
I haven't been on here a while....I was the guy that made a NG 1 topic in the past...
I pretty much had a run at 14:08 on tape, but with many mistakes, and I never wanted to submit it.

Having seen this, though, kind of hurts.  But at the same time I can swallow my pride and say it's great to see the whole triolgy getting represented finally.  And congrats to Tmont.  I can't wait to watch your run and pick up whatever new tactics you might have implemented.  I can settle with being third best.  Smiley

I'm a digital dreamer, baby.
Hello all!

I'm new to this forum as of today, but I've been watching/ comparing/ studying/ whatever else I did to Speed Runs/ Time Attacks for a long time, but I was always more interested in Speed Runs as they are much harder to do.

I decided my first post belongs here because I'm a NG fanatic.  I've been playing them since I was 5 or 6 years old, and play NG3 once a month or so (and NG1 occasionally, NG2 just feels too easy so it gets the once in a long while treatment heh heh) still to this day.  I've been wanting to do a Speed Run on NG3 for years, and now that I have finally found a solid community for it (you guys) I may start working on one sometime in the next couple months.  Just got alot of stuff going on right now to be doing it, but I got some of the paths memorized still anyways. Cheesy

In the meantime, I know that I'm new, but I'd like to know if there's anything I could do to help speed up (bad pun lol) the chance for me to verify runs for you guys?  I'm specifically interested in the NG series (Ninja Gaiden III preferably, but I know them all extremely well) at the moment, and maybe I could do that as a chance to show what I got before trying to help with other things?  I dunno, but either way I'm glad to be here and hope to keep in touch and have some fun.

I doubt they'd let you verify, since it is your first post, but I think the runs will all be up soon anyhow. Hopefully you can take a look at them and offer suggestions for improvement/work on improvements of your own then!

welcome to the forum Shadow_Hado. If you read page 4 you will saw that I did a speedrun of Ninja gaiden 3 for NES in 16 minutes. I guess the run will be posted soon. And as Stanski says. The admins and moderators want to know the verifiers a bit so you gotta be here now and then. Also, your chance to verify runs is higher if the game isn´t very populare and SDA have hard times finding verifers I guess.

My Ninja gaiden 3 is not the best speedrun on the site. I guess it can be improved by 30-60 seconds but I think it will pass the verification. It would be fun to see you challenge that run. Doing a speedrun motivates me to play the game more then before. So this way you can play the Ninja gaiden games even more Smiley

runs are up ... congrats, guys.
Just wanted to say that Grenola's writing is so hilarious and amusing to read when he described all 3 Ninja Gaiden runs that were published today. You sir have a way with words  Smiley Excellent run guys, I sincerely enjoyed watching them.

Oh and if I may also suggest that since you are a skilled Prime player, you (or the author himself; sparky) you should definitely consider improving the current 100% of Prime 2 Echoes. Would love to see you improve it  Wink cheers matey!

thanks. I try.

kinda off-topic, but I know sparky was having a think about doing another echoes 100% at some stage, and I'm toying with the idea of beating the existing any% (the new method of crossing grand abyss alone should shave at least a minute), but I won't have time in the near future.

cool. it would be cool to release all three ninja gaidens on the same day, wouldn't it?

20 days later... This is wonderful! Thanks a lot for the runs. My run for Ninja gaiden 3 is like a bounty price, a thanks for the other runs. joined the party and did a run of the third game Smiley Its a shame no one did runs of these games earlier. Its not a lots of great NES games missing runs now. But is still some to do.

I learned a lot of watching your runs. I like them both. Can´t say much you can do better for now. There is a chance I will challenge them later. My best time for NG 2 is 35 minutes. And I can definitely beat NG1 under an hour. So watch out and be prepared!  Kiss

( Frezy is happy ) *sniff*
Yes, a ninja riding a tiger.
Oh man....I just typed a whole analysis of the NG I run, and the stupid post didn't go through because my connection sucks.  Ugh.  Sad
I guess it's better it didn't go through since I explained some tactics of my own that might have helped the run a lot...so I might get back into doing it again!  Or not...
Overall these were all really awesome to watch.
Congrats guys.

It's clear that this game was created when video games were played to be beaten and not for fun, because this game is not fun.

This is the best description one could ever get about Ninja Gaiden.

Congratulations on the runs. Smiley

100% runs=great to watch
Holy damn guys, what's next...the SNES NG Trilogy?  8)

Fantastic runs all, especially NG3.  I will create/name a sandwich or sandwich variant after you Frezy.  Just gimme a little while near a kitchen...

Seeing these classic games finally conquered in style is a great milestone for SDA.  It gives me even more hope that my "somewhat" upcoming MASSIVE bounty post will be well received in the months following after I get done compiling it and posted.

sounds cool

I thought my NG3 run were the worst of them. The NG 2 run is probably moust smooth.

The Ninja gaiden collection for SNES. I watched a video when someone were playing it. It seems like the remakes sucks. The sound were even worse, hehe. No Ninja gaiden remake speedruns from me. I can tell you that .

It seems like tmont don´t like Ninja gaiden very much. I´m impressed he finished the run after reading his comments  Shocked
... I mean:

""It's clear that this game was created when video games were played to be beaten and not for fun, because this game is not fun.""

And the birds Smiley
""And don't even get me started on those birds. Easily the most frustrating enemy in any game ever""

---Tmont. If you beat the game "werewolf" you will find harder and more frustrating enemies.---
