Congrats to CapnDrake, who just broke sub-33 on stream.

32:48.
Good lord.
I actually said (in my chat) right before the end of that that I thought it was probably just a few seconds faster, imagine my surprise :p
For Fun! For GLORY!!
O.o Congrats Drake! Klappas all around! Cheesy

There is a known issue with xbox360-leaderboards, that it only saves the first playthrough. The developers are aware of it, but patches on consoles take a long time.
I do not know whether deleting save data helps, because I do not play on that platform. I guess you could give it a try and hope for the best Smiley

A risky choice but I haven't played DuckTales for a few days now so maybe I'll test this out with a dummy account.

@Capndrake: Wow! That was one heck of an incredible run. I was not aware of that extra life in the himalayas and the possible skip that brings you to bubba. How much time does that shave off as opposed to not doing a skip in the himalayas? You know the amazing thing about  your run: there's still room for improvement. Notable mistakes: Entire mine glitch( despawning blocks and falling through the ground)- 50 to 52 seconds( could've definitely been done quicker as I've done some in the 30 to 36 second range, four extra beagles on the plane, munched on by one plant, missed a jump on a ghost beagle, and one three bite on dracula duck. That being said, I wish you the best of luck on your runs. One other note: I would be curious if you could do runs on the Wii U platform to see how they would translate. Because it seems that the PC runs much quicker. Still, I bet you'd definitely beat my current time of 34:41 on the Wi U.
For Fun! For GLORY!!
Guru, that death abuse in Himalayas can be done on Easy too. It's not as effective, but it still works. Tongue

I might be onto something regarding ingame time. So, this just happened:

I did that run on a smurf steam account, the point was to see if bonus games really didn't count toward IGT, so I did a run on easy that should have got something like 35:xx IG, yet with 3 bonus game and I actually did the bonus game and took the 88k$ in it everytime. Yet, I'm having that time, 33:42, so... Is it because I played on the same computer and the game is somewhat screwed? That wouldn't really make any sense. Maybe it is because I actually did the mini games, this game is weird.

I might pick up the retail release of the Wii U version and try running it a bit, provided it's being released in Europe.

Anyone know if this is still in the game? Not a skip or anything, just an Easter Egg of sorts. (It's new to me)

http://www.twitch.tv/go1den/c/2748094

EDIT: Nevermind, this has been (unfortunately) patched up on all consoles. Apparently, it was supposed to be a dev-only message when making the game. Slipped through the cracks, obviously, and that is that. If you're able to access the game prior to the patch, I think this is worth it regardless of any fixes. Tried it myself just a bit ago, and it didn't work. The trigger was to mash jump on the "Stage Cleared" screen.

I keep getting times which is around 38m Real-Time (~34m) IGT on the Wii U (Easy). Always doing some mistakes and never getting good luck on Dracula nor Plane.

Haven't seen your run yet Drake, but the time is extremely impressive! Congratulations! I will try and watch it later, and use it as a source of inspiration to when (and if) I start running extreme.
For Fun! For GLORY!!

Wut?! O.o
Yeah, that was fixed with the very first patch on Steam.
Hello

I browsed through the game's memory while playing to search for the internal timer (like with RAMSearch for TAS). I couldn't find the timer inside a level, but only the address containing the sum of all completed levels. I could verify after completing the full game that this value was indeed the time displayed on the leaderboard.

I found that the timer stops when in pause, during the level selection and during the "Stage Cleared" after completing a level. The time doesn't stop during cutscenes, during screen transitions, during deaths (including the death cutscene), during minigames. I'm not sure about loading screens. When you exit and re-enter the level, it doesn't add the time spent on that level on the total time, but you still have a 5-6 s penalty because of the time spend in the hub.

The final time is considered when you see the newspaper.

Huh. Well, mystery mostly solved I'd say.

I told you guys sub 33 was indeed possible, congratulations for Capndrake for proving it Wink

I have been caught up in the magical world of Wind Waker HD, so I haven't done any runs at all in a week(?), but I will continue running when I beat that game Smiley
The RTA for Capndrake's run seems to be 35:29 (timer starts at 0:08 when Scrooge enters and the newspaper shows at 35:37). Just wanted to point that out, since everyone just mentioned the IGT
(while RTA is much more reliable) Sad
For Fun! For GLORY!!
Yeah my practice will be hampered now with X/Y coming out today here. Pokemon hype! Cheesy

I would say that the "optimal" (perfect Mine-Glitch, Plane Luck and Dracula pattern) to aim for regarding In-Game might be:

Easy: 33:00
Extreme: 32:00

Edit: Btw, I just had two great runs flushed down the drain. The first I had 10s advantage over my previous PB after the Mine Glitch, but got 14 Beagle Boys on the plane, and lost ~25s. The second run still had 10s, even with 9 Beagle Boys on the plane, until Moon Boss where I missed one cycle, didn't get any Ice-Cream from him and died.

Edit 2: I had two more runs getting past Mine Glitch with good enough time. The first was 5s quicker than my PB run, even if  I got eaten by the Piranha plant on my way past it. Then at the Plane, I got another run with 10+ Beagle Boys. Just as my other run, where I got the first four bombs with perfect luck, while I had seven Beagle Boys in a row, before I gave up for today.

This game is really getting on my nerves. Worst thing is that I won't find out if Dracula is nice or not until 35 minutes into the run. But I will continue tomorrow as usual.
I got a new best "recorded PB". Since the last one didn't record, I still got a time which is around 2.5s slower than my previous PB (so e.g. no new IGT record). The RTA is 37:55.32 (minus a few seconds since I start timing early), will measure from video in a bit.

I got almost God-like Mine Glitch, where I was almost 15s ahead of my old PB, but I lost most of it on the Moon (I'm really mad at myself missing Moon Skip first try, and lost a few seconds on the Moon boss as well). I also got quite bad luck on the plane, I missed that split, but lost ~10s in that level altogether.

Of course I still got two patterns of bats on Dracula. I will upload a video of it asap, and try to embed my timer on it as well.

Since I'm disappointed by the big miss, I have to see one positive thing in this: I have had quite a few good Mine Glitches lately, just around 5 seconds off what I got in this run.
For Fun! For GLORY!!
Nice Tiimber. Tongue
I really should be practicing more. But Pokemon has me distracted. <_>

This time, I recorded the video in 1080p (only possible without crashing if I don't stream at the same time), so the video will take quite some time to process, but here is the clip with my Mine Glitch (~15s better than my old PB run - my best so far):

Radman: I have sort of the same situation, when I give up for the day on my runs, I play WindWaker HD, going for 100% for the first time. Smiley

Edit: Full run here:

Wind Waker HD. A game I soooooo want, but no cash. Sad
But anyway, I'll stream some practice tomorrow. :3

I played a bit more today. I managed to beat my unrecorded time by half a second. My new RTA is 37:48, but the IGT didn't move from 33:47 (probably a split).

So about the run:

* Quite bad Mine Glitch (+17s compared to my previous run, quite even with my best time before that)
* 4 extra Beagle boys on the plane (less than my previous run)
* Quite good Amazon
* No missed Moon Glitch (even if I made the jump twice)
* Died once by a boulder in Vesuvius, right at a mid-way point (cost 6 seconds - must have been a pixel or so away from surviving)
* First time ever in a real run, I attempted the death jump in the beginning of the second escape (and managed it)

So, this run is approximately 3.2s quicker than the run posted before this. The video is processing and probably being uploaded tomorrow.

Edit: Video of the run

Sad

I was 6s ahead of my PB right until the end... of course I then get three patterns of Bats on Dracula. Moments like this, I hate this game.
For Fun! For GLORY!!
I only ever had one 3 bat pattern ever! Most of my runs have been 2 of each, some 3 dragons.
I'm still screwing up on Vesuvius on Extreme! It's soooo hard to practice since it's late game with no saves. :\
Greetings everybody! I slipped to third for awhile, but retook my 2nd place slot back with authority. I used an alternate profile and finished with an in-game time of 34:07 on easy. I was able to complete a pretty good, but not elite mine glitch, two extra beagles, bad yeti luck, two bats on dracula with two and three bite fangs respectively. I missed one jump on splinter and two jumps on the amazon boss. One thing I'm skeptical about is other difficulty levels registering your time other than easy. For example, I complete my first run on hard difficulty on my alternate profile and my time is nowhere to be found. Afterwards, I complete a run on easy and my time is seen on the leaderboard at 9th place. Furthermore, I have completed at least two solid runs on extreme on my first profile and the times did either did not register or I just didn't beat my in-game time of 34:41. However, all things being equal, wouldn't even not totally perfect runs on extreme be able to beat an in-game time of 34:41 considering the Translyvania death skip. I did get two gyro bonus games on one of my runs( not sure if the timer goes during this), but I completed a solid mine skip and didn't have terrible plane luck. Could somebody enlighten my on the subject if every difficulty registers the time? One last question: could somebody please explain to me exactly what RTA stands for, means and how you record it? For example, would using a watch chronograph to record the run from the beginning til the newspaper shows at the end?
