For some reason it didn't register my game time. :\

Check your best score on the leaderboard in like 30 minutes or so.  Sometimes when I've set a new PB, my best game time wouldn't update until I went back and checked like 30/60 minutes later.
Can someone make a tutorial video for the Mines skip?  I really don't understand that glitch.  I can get various pieces to disappear, but they usually re-appear when I continue to try and get more pieces to disappear.
Can someone post or send me a screenshot of the current leaderboards for the PS3?  I started a wiki a few days ago and I'm adding games as I have time.  Have the Wii U and Steam leaderboards for DuckTales: Remastered but I'm missing the PS3 one.

Here is the wiki in case there are updates, anyone can edit and update the page!  Smiley

I probably won't get around to making a tutorial video until we come up with some more reliable setups for each block.

For now, think of it like this:
1. Getting a block to despawn is done by scrolling it off camera by just the right amount and then rescrolling the camera back to where the block should be before it has a chance to spawn again.
2. If the camera passes back across this loading zone after despawning a block, the block will respawn.
3. Because of #2, you need to despawn blocks from right to left.
4. You only need to despawn 4 of the blocks. You're skipping the right most block and the second most left block (the one on top).
5. Because it's based on the camera, it's all about manipulating it properly. Getting a walking start will probably require different positioning/timing compared to jumping from a standing position.
6. Regardless of #5, I'm including a picture to try to highlight the general area of where Scrooge should move to before turning around to despawn each block. Try using Bangerra's earlier picture and matching them up, but my setups aren't exactly in line with his.

Is it possible to depsawn one of the blocks by jumping from that corner block?

Speaking of TAS, has anyone tested if this game is TASable in win32-hourglass yet?

I am actually planning to do this, however, i believe it won't work as (from what I've heard) hourglass doesn't seem to work with games that use the Steam API.
Here are the camera positions required to despawn each necessary block in the Mines. You only want the camera to stay in this position for 1 or 2 frames. Keep in mind the camera's position relative to Scrooge is not static. It has to accelerate. Try to find the best reference point on the screen you can for each block. They will help immensely.

Block 2:

Block 3:

Those are definitely some good reference points.  I'm curious though. Were you pogo-ing for some of those?

I just had a run ended due to a hard lock.  Great :/  I was doing fairly well, too.
I didn't pogo for any of them, but it shouldn't matter either way. You just have to scroll the camera to the correct position from left to right and then scroll the camera back to the left immediately. As long as you satisfy those conditions, it really doesn't seem to matter how you get the camera to scroll. You can jump or pogo or whatever from anywhere. You don't have a lot of room to play with, though. Jrat (former WayForward dev) on twitch said it was basically pixel perfect due to the way the game is coded.
I found it really easy to do if you use the post on the left side of the screen in the foreground as a reference point. The only block that is difficult is the second one because you have to walk to the left a significant amount just to see if you despawned it or not (because it gets obscured by another foreground post).

I also think that doing mines first is the way to go so you can reset if the boulder skip takes too long.

If the game automatically uses the Steam API even when run outside of Steam (or cannot be run outside of Steam), it almost certainly won't work as hourglass doesn't hook internet communication. But if it doesn't use it automatically you have a chance.
Grr...I've had 2 great runs ended today by the game locking up/not loading.  Once after the Mines, the other after the Himalayas.  I REALLY hate that.

I've tried the Mines trick for about an hour so far, and I've gotten 3 out of the 4 to de-spawn as my record before I start screwing up a lot.  The bad part is that if one rock spawns, you basically have to start over.

First time Ive managed to despawn the necessary blocks below 5 minutes, need to practice more to be worth it.
For Fun! For GLORY!!
I just don't do it. It's not worth it for me, especially since it's hella hard.
I need to keep grinding at this. I'm drifting into trying more games and others are overtaking me now. :\

I've also been avoiding the Mines Skip for now, by the time I can despawn a couple blocks, I could be up and around the normal route. Once a consistent setup is found it might be worth it.

Here's my result of just normal runs with the Moon Skip:

There's a ton of room for improvement, I'm slowly whittling it down.

Also, hi. New around here, loved the original DuckTales and have been watching speedruns for a while, figured I'd get this game down as low as I possibly can.
For Fun! For GLORY!!
That's a pretty decent split. I can't compare that to mine at the moment since I'm at work. Just a question:
What route did you take through Himalayas? That time looks exceptionally good. Unless you had perfect plane luck...
DemoPlaysGames on Twitch
From the initial plane part being broken up into 3 pieces I go down 1 floor and to the left. Once I get the first piece I keep heading left and drop down, then head right for the 2nd piece. Then I head back left and finish up with Bubba.

Plane luck went alright, I think only one set of 2 Beagle Boys in a row.
For Fun! For GLORY!!
Well, I found that going to the very bottom part is faster, because there are 'M' power ups in that section that speed you up. Once you get it, you go back, grab the 2nd piece in the above section, then get the one involving Bubba.

But that is actually amazing plane luck! Perfect would be Beagle/bomb/Beagle/bomb, I think.
I keep losing runs due to my console locking up.  This is very frustrating :/  I've lost 5 runs in the past day because of this alone.  They were tracking very well, too.

I've had TERRIBLE luck on the Plane Fight, too.  One of my runs yesterday had this section go on for 5 minutes because of bad RNG before I shut it off in disgust.  UGH.

I'm fairly certain I'm pacing at sub :44 right now, perhaps sub :43 too, and that's without the Mines skip.
For Fun! For GLORY!!
I've only softlocked once after the Yeti fight. And I think it was because I skipped the cutscene too quick.

Thanks to those who watched my stream this evening, i believe i can cut down the time on the mine skip by quite a lot, i will highlight the best attempt i had (sub 30 sec) and do more practicing.

37:53 from Difficulty Selection to the final platform/losing control of Scrooge. Definitely a good run but there were still quite a few mistakes plus I didn't attempt the Mines Skip.

Going to keep pushing this as far as I can.

Oh you played PC? I figured it was console.
Also I time my RTAs from when I get control of Scrooge to when I lose him, so you're time should actually be a bit better. But still amazing!

I play PC with a PS3 controller, can't stand the 360 D-pad.

Good to know, I'll start time as soon as I get control of Scrooge.
