hi. i had a video on dvd (like you know these files are named as ".vob") which i wanted to convert into .avi.
I tried to convert these files with the help of this:

but i recognized that this was finally a too high english level for me so I didnt understand what i should do ... I had to find an other way and finally i found Movie Jack 3.5

Movie Jack 3.5 is just a small file (35MB) which converts these .vob files just simply to .avi...

but
i cant do many things with it... just say do fast-normal-high quality. If i do fast which is finally the worst quality of these three the .vob file (e.g. 2GB) becomes 1GB AVI file... which is finally TOO BIG for THIS QUALITY!
when nate converted my video from 2.6GB (.vob) he could make a 600MB Normal Quality AVI file.. that is my problem which i cant do with Movie Jack.

SO is there any programm existing which is possibly so easy like Movie Jack 3.5, but which is more comprehensive?

I use Xilisoft DVD Ripper myself.

The videos it chucks out aren't SDA quality I wouldn't think, but it's good enough for YouTube.

ich denke alles soll mehr oder weniger selbsterklärend sein. du gibst den dvd-laufwerk-buchstabe und einige andere infos ein und anri-chan macht den rest. dieses system verwende ich wenn ich die videos für sda komprimiere also du kannst alle die selben videos komprimieren wie ich würde. und ja wenn du fragen hast stell sie einfach, egal auf deutsch oder auf englisch.

well I started anri chan and also installed the other programms like DGIndex. I dont know if it is a must, but finally they dont take so much space so it is no problem.

I tried it and it works like you said. I opened Anri-chan. It started DGIndex and the programm did everything by itself like you said

but now it asks me: do you want to use Anri-Chan's games database? i said both times yes and it suddenly connected somewhere to speeddemosarchive.com

but i dont want to submit any video to sda at this moment. ^^ so should i say just NO?

Hello David, that is not to submit.It's just for recording for the "video format".It is not linked for submitting vids to SDA

For example, if i want to record re4 id type in r009

This anri-chan is not as user friendly as other programs but it gets the job done.I have had good success with dvdx 2.10.Where i can choose what codec it uses etc

UPDATE
I could make it. I got a Normal Quality AVI File like I wanted to have. Everything worked fine, but there is one problem:

- Sound and Video are not synchronic. Der Sound und das Video sind nicht synchron. Did I do something wrong?

right... it works at the moment (again Normal Quality) Now I also included First Line 1 and 2 and 3 like SDA always does at the beginning and end of each segment.

I hope we can solve this synchronisation problems. if yes it would be BEAUTIFUL Cheesy

update:
If the sound and video is in the same file start up VirtualDubMod (it is one .avi file and sound and video is in this file)

and load the source file (name.avi).

Go to Stream -> Stream List, select the audio stream and choose Save Wav. (I cant find "Stream")

Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds.

Question for nate, could we somehow have a quick and easy option in anri-chan's core to synch audio and video?

like a little tickeybox that will automatically do the process that Dave is going threw? (with audacity etc)

now i recognized the problem (probably)!
Although I played 50Hz it looks like it would be 60hz! The game is faster than the sound! That means my video should be slower! If I synchronises the video with the sound, the video stays fast which would be not original 50Hz!

i played 50Hz but the video shows a 60Hz play... hrrr.

So does this mean anri-chan is speeding up David's video as he selected r005 as anri-chans default system database(as it being NTSC) when he began to rip? and its taken the NTSC full framerate as f1 and not the PAL f1 as 50 which is causing the out of synch to occur?

The only line of code I see that determines whether something is PAL or NTSC is

meaning, if the height is 576 then it's flagged as PAL, if not, then it's flagged as NTSC.

Nate is the expert here in this kind of stuff, but I'm betting you recorded at the wrong resolution.

es ist alles automatisch jetzt, anri-chan hat aus irgendeinem grund falsch entschieden (zwischen pal und ntsc).

it's all automatic right now, anri-chan for some reason made the wrong decision.

auf welche geschwindigkeit (qualität) hast du alles aufgenommen? "sp" oder?

on what speed/quality did you record everything? sp or?

the reason i ask is anri-chan will probably think it's ntsc if the vob is e.g. 352x288 (pal d4) (as is possibly recorded on the very bad quality settings e.g. ep). but i could be wrong.

auf jeden fall kannst du ein sehr kleines bisschen video aufnehmen und die entsprechende .vob-datei zu z.b. rapidshare hochladen? nur damit kann ich lernen was das problem ist so dass ich anri-chan verbessern kann. danke.

just asked him to record a small sample vob so i can see what is going on.

I played German PAL-50Hz. I recorded it first on VCR, went to a friend and recorded it from VCR to DVD Recorder on HDD (First on HARDDRIVE). Then on DVD. On DVD the sound and video are synchronic. (fyi: do you remember some days ago when you converted my knife play? we used the same DVD settings. if it is not enough info i am gonna ask my friend to tell you which exact settings we used)

I think that may be causing the conflicting values in resolution.

Oh and Nate, don't EP,SP dictate the recording quality of the video and not affect resolution?

Or do the lower values affect both resolution and quality?

As per usual Nate, my DVD+r do not work, so i used the same DVD+RW brand that i used for Assignment Ada.What does the above error mean?

" I have found that in this case the TFF flag cannot be trusted, i.e. although the D2V indicates BFF, it's really TFF."

When i put in a DVD+R, it mentions something about a fixD2V tool.Are they related?

ARgh.

Looks like my field order program isn't very good.

Anyways, the next version of Anri-Chan doesn't even use fieldorder.exe anymore since it was used with diminit.exe which has been removed as well.

Nate, think we need to get version 2 out.. soon.
