I never got a record on PAL and said it was on NTSC.  If you think PSP from TG was that dumb that he wouldn't of noticed the game running faster than usual when he verified the 2:18.82 Sandman record, than you don't know PSP.  I'll be posting a 2:17.xx Sandman NTSC video after a while anyways.  I'm sure one of you guys will be doing the same. :-)  Going back to the Don 2 video now, when I watch the last phase.  I wonder what I would of gotten if I would of threw 3 right body blows and then ducked under his right hook and then did a star uppercut?  I'm sure it would of been faster.  Maybe 1:21.xx.  Hopefully I'll get lucky again when I play Don 2 so I can try it out.

R.I.P. Mike Girard my ass sinister1.  It's not my fault you guys didn't figure out the phase 1 strategy for Sandman till just lately besides me not telling it to you guys it I guess.  You guys were disrespecting me.  That's why I didn't tell you guys.  I got faster than 2:18.61 on Sandman a long time ago with that same strategy and have other faster vids for other characters too.  I just don't care to come on here and brag about it every step of the way like some of you do.  As far as record videos go these days seeing isn't believing because of all the digital editing people can do.  Only a recording of the player playing in front of their gaming equipment is the only true way to tell if they got the record for real or not.  Twin Galaxies and Speed Demos Archive both I'm sure have had fake digitally edited videos submitted and approved before

So why not just post videos? I have seen all your times on TG and none of them would have strategies that are not already known here. If you do not care about what people think or proving yourself, why are you posting here and showing the Don 2 vid?

I am not sure what you are implying regarding the fake digitally edited videos, can you be more specific on how that is relevant to MTPO?

Quote from Girard_Bros:
This is the real Mike Girard.  I've been hooked on Mortal Kombat Online action the last 2 and half years.  I know there's video editing cheaters that have submitted to all of the record keeping websites.  That doesn't mean I think everybody is doing that.  I just decided to come on here again and basically say "see I told you so" about the Mr. Sandman strategy that people didn't think existed.  I should of just said something about it back in 2010.  I'm sorry for not telling you guys about it.  It's pretty damn hard to land all of the right hooks in the 1st phase without screwing one up too.  Nice job McHazard for figuring out the faster Sandman strat and nice job guys for getting some vids rounded up with some fast times on MTPO. :-)

This is true, there have been cheaters capable of editing videos but that has not happened on this site with MTPO so I am not sure it is relevant here. Saying "I told you so" is easy to do from your position of anonymity. Unfortunately you still have not provided proof and you never "told" anyone anything other than you got 2:18.82. The only way for you to prove that you discovered this strategy is to simply post the video as Zallard suggested. It would prove once and for all that you found the strategy. There is literally no downside of posting the video now since Zallard has a 2:18.61 and you claim he is using the same strategy. What do you possibly have to lose by posting it? You have a lot to gain.

Quote from Girard_Bros:
I tried doing a left body blow and then a right body blow at the start of the last phase of Don 2 before and then did the 2 face jabs and a star uppercut and Don 2 didn't go down.  You have to do 2 right body blows in order for him to go down after 5 total punches.

That actually works. He gets up with a  refill of 40 and the damage values are 5 (right gut) 4 (left gut) 4 (2 face jabs), and 27 (star punch). Using the left hand would save two frames over using the right.

There are some alternative Don 2 strats that require 1 random star and the low refill in phase 3 that can get 1:23.xx. The same strat yields sub 1:20 with 2 random stars.

Quote from Girard_Bros:
I will after I get another regular old style TV.  I have around 250 NES games and only really play the Punch-Out!! games once in a while.  I still think there's more unknown faster strategies to MTPO.  Don 2 has to have some kind of a better strat to get more stars.  I saw on my video that he got up on 4 when I knocked him at :44 and he got up on 8 when I knocked him down at 1:08.  It must of been a coincidence that it was the same numbers he got up as the last numbers on the clock.  Maybe not though.  I've gotten him to get up on 8 both times but only when I was short 1 star. :-(  I wish someone would TAS the Don 2 strat punch for punch and have him get up on 8 both times to see what time would be TKO'ed at.

There are. I have several improved Don 2 strats that I will post later when I have time. They are very lengthy due to the number of variables involved (number of random stars, refills, etc.)

Quote from Girard_Bros:
I'm going to go and get another JVC analog TV from my Dad's place so I can play MTPO again.  I'm sick of playing against the same guy on MK Online with his 200+ alternate accounts all the time.  I want to help figure out some new strats for Don 2 and a few other characters at least.  I also want to get some more world records on video to put up on You Tube since Matt Turk didn't put his up.  From now on I'm going by what zallard1 said "EITHER SHOW THE VIDEO OR YOU DIDN'T REALLY GET IT." :-)

Yes, please post more of your vids. People actually want to see more records in this game and if you showed them they would appreciate it. The community has grown a lot and there are plenty of MTPO fans that would be excited to see new records. There are not many active runners and if you started running the game again it would mean more records. Zallard and I cannot get them all.

I will be looking forward to your 2:17.xx and I hope you post your 2:18.82 in the mean time. For Don 2, you can end the final phase like I do in my 1:26.48 which is 3 body blows (R, L, L) and then quick dodge/star uppercut. It takes 15 seconds which is the same as your phase 3. I am sure one of them is faster by some frames but I am not sure which yet.

RE: Don 2 in 1:23.97 - I remember you showed me and Turk this video back in the day. No one questioned this time when you got it, and it is a good time. It can certainly go lower with alternate strats and different luck.

@Zallard: I appreciate your enthusiasm but we do not need to turn this into more drama like it was back in the day. I am willing to let bygones be bygones if Mike simply posts the 2:18.82 in which case I would be the first person to apologize to him for doubting it. He is a skilled MTPO player and our community could always use more of those.

It seems pointless to post the Sandman 2:18.82 video now because there's no way to prove it was done back in 2010 compared to now besides TG verifying a 2:18.82 Sandman time.  But even if TG verified a 2:18.82 time it still doesn't mean it was a McHazard style strategy which it wasn't when I got my 2:18.82 Sandman time.  I knew you could hit Sandman low in the 1st phase a few years back.  But I never got around to trying to make a whole strategy out of it because I started playing MK9 and MK1-MK3 online.  After seeing TG apparently die off I figured I might as well get some faster MTPO times and get them up on You Tube and SDA for people to see.  People can digitally edit their submissions in between stages and matches with computer software.  It makes it impossible to notice the stop and restart of the video submission if done right.  I'm not saying this happened with MTPO vids on SDA.  It's just something to be aware of.  That's mainly why I stopped submitting videos to TG.  If I do submit to SDA it will be just for the MTPO IL Records Table only.  Someone will get in the 2:17.xx range on Sandman on the MTPO NTSC.  I only have the MTPO NTSC at the moment because my brother had my PAL one at his place and it mysterious vanished in the summer of 2011.  So I'll have to try to get another one from Europe because I liked playing with the extra speed for added difficulty and training. :-)  The King Hippo 37.61 video on this site after watching it a moment ago doesn't look legit.  Maybe it's just me.  It has a pop sound when it goes to the last screen which can be a hint of editing.  Sorry for thinking that. :-(  It might be from when it got compressed.  The sound and video quality are scrubby.

If you post the video it proves you got the 2:18.82. It is not like you can just get a 2:18.82 whenever you want, that is a rare time to get and you need to put in a ton of attempts to get the right luck. I would accept a 2:18.82 that you posted immediately as proof that you got it beforehand and not just now since you saw Zallard's 2:18.61. If you don't post it then you don't have it. If you don't have it, then that sure seems suspicious and we are right back where we started. Nothing has changed. I really hope you came here for good reasons and not to just stir up drama. This is not the place for that. We share strategies and encourage each others' progress in a hobby we enjoy. Like I said I am willing to let bygones be bygones, but you gotta do your part too.

As far as Adelikat's 0:37.61 he did not have very good video capture device and was used the .mpg file format. SDA only posts .mp4 files for quality purposes and the .mpg which was already not great quality lost a bit more quality when it was convereted to .mp4. He has sent me the original back when he got it and I can verify it is legit. I still have the original's b/c he did some other ILs that got obsoleted.

If you guys can't let some old Sandman record go I'm not going to deal with this site anymore.  I'll just put up my records on You Tube and forget about this site.  That's the kind of vibe I'm starting to feel from you guys now.  It's rather dumb you guys make a big deal about me not showing a single video when Matt Turk as far as I know never showed a single video of his world records and I never heard anybody question his records either.  The second video I sent to TG after I got my 2:18.97 Sandman pulled from the leaderboards because I played it on a Famicom instead of a US NES for the Sandman 2:18.82 record was a camcorder recording showing me put the game in system and then play the the game.  After I got the record I got hit with a bottle of pop by my brother.

Mike, you sent me a vid of your Sandman fight that was edited to exclude certain portions of the fight. That was not a camcorder video, you had uploaded it to YouTube.

You sent it to Matt Turk as well so there are multiple witnesses that can confirm this.
MK Wizard
The hard drive in the camcorder overwrote the live record performances back in Christmas of 2010.  The last Sandman record vid was a resubmission replay after you guys challenged it.  I don't remember which one just had sections of it.  It was either 2:18.97 or 2:18.82.
