I'm unsure if I banned anyone, but I did enable a couple anti-bot scripts in mIRC. Just for those free steam codes and naked golden link spammers.

Oh, I thought you did have the paid version. If that had been the issue, maybe OBS should be looked into. Is there anything you did that literally only XSplit could do?

OBS doesn't support direct restreaming of rtmp channels, plus I'm more familiar with xsplit. We won't be doing that anymore, though I do plan to have paid xsplit sometime down the road, so we'll probably stick to restreaming with xsplit.

...Really? I seem to remember Saturday going pretty smoothly. A lot of the runners have been in marathons before, and understand the importance of very high estimates - because it's not just for their runs.

I guess by that statement I meant our original estimate. Though I do think you have a good point there, to not include direct setup in the estimate (but rather just take the setup time into account for scheduling only, not as the estimate on-screen).

Quote from JaggerG:
I'm inclined to hope for any% runs of EVERY game next time, in order to make it more like a relay run through the series. This is gonna be tough to schedule, but cool if it pans out. Other categories and fangames/hacks could come after.

I'm not sure about having any% for every game Tongue If we have other m and mp3 100%, for example, having any% for both would be rather redundant (unless mp3 any% has bryyo skip... but lol at that). And I'm not very keen on having 1%, any%, and 100% for fusion either Tongue

In terms of chat regulation, I was probably mentioning the other m crap because I'm personally very annoyed with it as well, and it's a rule to have it banned in my chat. But in retrospect, it's probably kinda silly to have it as a chat rule. I do agree, we should have had the chat a bit more regulated in general; there were a few points where people were spamming links everywhere and it gets rather awkward with that. And we don't really want twitch faces to be banned since sometime we encourage it (I certainly did at a few points XD) and it's fun for many people.

I guess I envision a bigger marathon. Thank you so much for staying up for this entire thing, but maybe it's better to organize a longer one so as to not even tempt you to skip out on sleeping next time. As I mentioned previously, I didn't think it seemed right to play both any% and 100% for Other M. Something big needs to be discovered before that happens, and I think it's gonna take 2-3 years to come. I don't mind repeating any% for it next year and holding off on 100% until the game is more appealing for one reason or another. But again, I don't necessarily mind doing 100% instead, either.

As for Fusion, that's tricky because 1% is so close to any% already. I think in a year, there might come a means of incentivizing different categories, either by fundraising (for a charity or for marathon travel funds or something), or through promotion, such as getting celebrities of a combined total fandom to repost through social media.

And about OBS vs. XSplit, is using the RTMP as a device in XSplit better on resources than screen capturing the RTMP out of another program? Perhaps the RTMP capture function is just laggy. Perhaps shrinking a feed to capture at a smaller size and upscaling it on stream might produce better net results.

-Restreaming Set-up. This was most notable in kottpower's run, as the run was unbearably choppy. The setup I used was the same rtmp restreaming set-up that the Mumble Crew Marathon used; the runner streamed to the rtmp, then I/yashi used xsplit to directly take the rtmp stream. Yashi's internet was fine, and kottpower's rtmp stream was fine, so the only explanation was how xsplit was taking the run; it was likely because we streamed at 25ish fps, whereas kottpower's stream was at 60 fps, which likely caused problems. I'll likely have paid xsplit next time we do this, so the fps issue won't be a problem.

I actually streamed all of my runs at 60 FPS, 480p, and about 1k bitrate, and I don't think any of them looked particularly bad.

Metroid 2 Ho!
Just wanted to say a few things. First, that was an absolutely amazing experience! I've never taken part in such an event, and it was mind-blowingly fun! Especially being there for DoctorM64, and the amazing hype of Grand Abyss Tongue Second, as much as I love how it turned out for me personally, perhaps we need to be a bit more serious scheduling commentary, as we might not get a not-busy 16 year old kid on spring break to cover the gaps next time Tongue I was there, but who knows what my, or Jagger who covered when /I/ fell asleep, situation will be?
Jumping Turtle
It helped that I had multiple commentators offered for Other M, because one couldn't make it after all. I'm not good at commentating as I play, personally, so I needed at LEAST one commentator. I feel Fusion had gone immensely better in that regard, as all 3 people are pretty much experts at the game and did a great job of taking turns. But it also takes good chemistry for 3 or more to not be too much, so I think listing a third or fourth person as "backup" specifically is good for next time. There are of course exceptions for established groups of friends already accustomed to each others' rhythms and such.

I've updated the 2nd post with viewer data, links to all the twitch VODs, and credits!

For highlights/bloopers, it'd be great if people can go into the VODs and find the video time (what the timer says) for each highlight! That would save me a ton of time!

To be fair, Metroid II was right after zero mission, and zero mission is popular, then we had the audio/technical issues and went offline like 5 times, and had to spend like 20-30 minutes figuring things out. In fact, that downtime was easily the cause of that sudden drop <_<
Yeah the downtime was the reason why it dropped, not the game.

If you know how, maybe have it run normal speed for like 30-45 seconds, then speed it up for most of the rest until the last 30-45 seconds?

I've got part 2 uploaded to my channel so far. Just temporarily, so y'all can look through and suggest any edits/additions. Note: it starts from Zoast's 14% ice run. Part 1 to come much later tonight.

Caution: After Pinball, Prime 1 and 2 are suddenly REALLY loud. Adjust volume accordingly.

Don't put together part 1 yes, I still need to figure out how I'm going to do the blooper for the zebetite luck for ddarch's run Tongue

Thanks a lot! I'll watch through it; I guess I can get the actual video, and use windows movie maker (yeah, i know, i'm a noob) to adjust the volume at the appropriate spots

There're some parts of clips you're missing; not sure if you agree with them, but this is what i noticed, comparing to my spreadsheet's end times:

For the clutch in SM 14% ice, I'd like you to have that clip until 14:15, since I think it'd make more sense when the commentators say that the spikes do 60 damage.

Mother Brain Fight in SM 14% ice goes up to 52:50, for the clutch and the conversation

Missing "I never claimed to be a smart man..." in fusion 1%

in "Didn't fall!"for hunters, would be nice to start it at 56:21 because amhite tells the chat to place their bets on how many times he'll fall? I thought that was amusing

In case you missed it jagger, the spreadsheet with the timestamps is here - https://goo.gl/i0bnL9
Jumping Turtle
Yeah I tried to put in everything, but then for some clips, I accidentally did some post-editing because I'm used to cutting stuff from other highlight reels for length. Oops. Easy fix, though. I actually have each of the clips as separate files if you need them.

As for the start/end times, I actually just took the start time and ignored the end time. lol, but this is the reason it's a temporary upload, for testing.

Quote from kirbymastah:

I almost had that, but then left it out because it seemed self-evident. Started at 179, took 2 hits, had 59 remaining. It's only like 10 seconds longer though.

Quote from kirbymastah:

I actually got lazy because my clip ends at the end of the actual recording segment. I can put the start of the next segment in, no problem. It's just, I'd been tempted to highlight the entire discussion about the names of MB's attacks, but a 3-minute highlight seemed like a bit much to me.

Quote from kirbymastah:
Missing "I never claimed to be a smart man..." in fusion 1%

I felt strange about putting in more highlights of myself than anything else, lol. I also said the same thing in a later clip. The clip after that I just outright said "you might even say I'm kind of an idiot."

Quote from kirbymastah:

okey doke.

As for the zebetites, I can just clip out all the segments and send you a zip or something so you don't have to DL all of the runs.

Hm well the MZM low% hard has the entire iron ted fight (the one that succeeded) and that's included in the spreadsheet; i think the main part of mother brain could be highlighted too

Anyways the test video looks really good in quality (Well, considering the stream's quality...) Cheesy

EDIT: For the rinka missile drop troll, I think we can include

0:43:32 - 0:47:00

Parts of it sped up (only the parts with actual commentary shouldn't be sped up I guess, since some of it is pretty funny)
Jumping Turtle
Maybe you can speed up the video and just attach an edited audio clip in Movie Maker? I remember the non-XP version has almost no features, but hopefully it can at least do that.
<(^_^)>
I'd like to upload the VODs on youtube. There's just two things I want to consider:

1. Which youtube channel? The only options really are my own and ludendi's, and it's probably better to upload it to Ludendi's (if they have one)

2. What should we do about the splices? AKA when the stream went down? Just a fading transition maybe?
Jumping Turtle
technical difficulties screen perhaps?

It can do that.
It's funny, though... movie maker, seeing how "basic" it is supposed to be has more "basic" functionality than any other free video editor I've found. Most of them have restrictions dealing with 1080p60 material and/or mkv container, both of which movie maker supports (both import and export). There are other things, too... but enough of that. Not there to discuss irrelevant things.
One thing I've noticed, though, is that it makes 60 fps videos choppy (like going from 60 -> 30 fps) (at least in 1080p; not tried other resolutions). If you're going to upload to youtube, I doubt it matters, but it's still something to consider.

For the magmoor caverns fail, could you start it at 0:35:02 since it has the boost ball getting stuck glitch blooper happening before the death? Tongue

No thardus dash? Sad

Otherwise very nice. I think you did a good job cropping out unnecessary parts (i.e. IBBF fail, and such), and keeping the more amusing parts. I'm probably gonna go back to see if there's anything else highlight/blooper worthy in mp2/3 100% but i don't think so. Also I want to go through kottpower's 100% run to see if there's anything else worth highlighting that isn't too choppy (but if someone else offers, please do!)
