Anyway - this run is done, check out the verification topic!

Where is it?!

I can't find it anywhere.

He said it is on the verification list. Which means, it must first be judged by other users before it is posted on the site.

Which means it's supposed to be in the verification forum. And it isn't. That's why I asked.

But also I PM'd him the question, and he told me that it was because he was still in the process of sending Nate the video.

To avoid further confusion-
The run was listed in the verification topic, but it got 6 or more verifiers already, so it was taken off the list.  After all of the verifiers report back to Mike about the run, he'll post a topic for it.
(Maybe we need a list for runs that came off the "needs verified" list that are still in the works?)

The transfer rate is fluctuating a bit much to be sure how long it will take before nate has the entire thing.  Could be one day, could be several.

I wouldn't rule out BN6 just yet, I played a little bit recently and there was a lot of neat stuff available early in the game with which to tear through randoms.  TrainArrow is my favorite so far, it shoots once for every open panel in front of you, plus another.  Also, using HP memory to escape randoms seems to work still, if in a different manner.
Bring me the flaming voodoo canonball!
Which BN6 game will you run?
Gregar or Falzer?

Even though the final Boss, Gregar, is easier to hit. Falzer version has a few more easier moments.
Example: When you need to get the water for Megaman, you will only have Heatman. Heatman + Seaside Area = dissaster.

But because you are segmenting, it probably won't be an issue.

BN6 has a nice Lottery Chip Machine, with lot's of Navi chips with an *

Only shame with BN6 is that a lot was removed from the US/EU version, because Boktai was unpopular (No Django+Otenko+The Count and GunDelSol EX chips, Boktai event removed etc)

One question about your MMBN3 run. Which chips/items did you get from the Numberman Trader? Obviously the Masterstyle PA required chips. But which other chips and items?
Hope rides alone.
its nice how AsterLand gives out real good chips in BN6. Just think of FullCust * later in the story to buy for 7k.
And AsterLand order could be used to plan the chips ahead you need, just too bad that Air20 chip is the only * there.

Killerman * ... although its not that good with only 100, but it pierces invis and stuns, just like judgeman *. maybe you got a plan already worked out?

Gregar should be run. Not only is big Gregar easier, the hostile Gregar Megaman is also easier to hit.

Couldnt ColArmy * be also very useful?

I also liked EleTrap on my playthroughs very much, as it hurts for 240 and almost every boss has an element. the elec bosses even stun themselves.

too bad the transfer to nate takes that long...I am sure your BN3 run is really great!

seems to be a lot of menu interactions that is hard to follow
100% runs=great to watch
Spent the morning watching the run and found it to be very entertaining and well wrought.  I found myself rubbing my hands together imagining the slaughter to come once you reached that "prize" machine and started entering in codes...mwahaha!  8)

Congrats on breaking the series in for SDA,here's hoping other MMBN games follow suit.
i know i am a little late but congrats on mmbn3. i never made it through that one but i did get through 1 and 2 so ive got high hopes of seeing those in the future Cheesy
Afterlife Middle Management
I was wondering, for an EXE2 run, whether it would even be worth it to get the LifeSwd3.  By the time you can get the pieces together, it's Freezeman's scenario.  Ideally, Freezeman should be killed by abusing his 4x electric weakness, and the final two are better handled with Gater. (Fake Bass: Gater +20, Gospel: 2 Gaters with +30 total)
The only two places that LS3 would be useful in a segmented run are some randoms and the first boss refights.  For randoms, we should be sneakrunning, and the advantage in the first refights is just a couple seconds over Gater.  I don't think it's even enough to offset the time spent going to dealers and buying the pieces.  Damn you, UnderKoto guy!
I'd suggest still getting the LS3 as a backup in a SS run though, because the RNG may screw Gater, even if half your folder is made of it.  Obligatory "lol EXE SS" goes here.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Quote from AquaTiger:
RedWave (from reddish-colored jellyfish viruses - it's not penetrating like the other three, but it covers most of the field so it deserves SOME mention - I suspect there's a water version too).

Yes, RedWave is actually the second in a trio of tsunami waves, and the only one that isn't water-elemented.

Quote from AquaTiger:
Even though we need /Dex, /Sal, and /Miyu, I do not recommend getting @Sal.  @Miyu, however, is an excellent idea, as it allows us a BIG shortcut in the second-to-last scenario.

What do you need /Sal for?  I checked, and you don't need it to finish the game.  In fact, you can backtrack from the LabMemo doors into the area that Sal's link opens; the exit from that area isn't locked.  Therefore, I see a good shortcut where after using Higsby's Memo, you take that backward path all the way to the access to Lan's dad's computer so you can bookmark it and go straight back to the WWW areas after you get the SciLab Memo.  Just remember to pick up @Dad when you visit to leave the message.  Yes you have to jack in from the office after you get the memos, but since you need to talk to Dr. Hikari after BombMan anyway, it doesn't waste any time.

But if you really wanted to visit that shop or refight StoneMan sooner, then sure, go beat up WoodMan if you think it'll help.

Notice the date on the post you were quoting there. It was in 2006. Its kinda obvious that the files would be deleted.

But Raven75's profile says he was last active earlier this month.  Couldn't he have posted an update if the files were moved?

Plus, he last linked to that account last December:

A while ago I messed with mmbn5 a bunch trying to see how speedrunnable it may be, and in the end it did not seem doable. But lately I've been thinking, considering how quickly mmbn3 was disposed of, perhaps i was too quick to give up on 5...

I guess it would really have to come down to finding something similar to the random battle skipping Cromarty was able to manage...
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Well, the other advantage of /Sal is you can reach the "deep" part of the net early.  But the shop items are so expensive, and you wouldn't have the right stuff at first to bust those powerful viruses at a high level, so I don't think you'd be able to get very much out of it right away, and you'd probably get a Game Over really easily.  Any other ideas about this?
Last night as I was trying to go to sleep I kept dreaming about posting in this topic.  I was too tired to do it though.  I have played through all of the MMBN games and some I've completed 100%.  The only ones I'd be willing to restart are My spare BN2 and BN4 Blue Moon.  I might consider team colonel in MMBN 5 DTDS.

The only thing is that in order to optimize fully you'd need lots of segmenting.  You'd have to do it to avoid battles and for all the luck manipulation which these games are heavy in.  The highlights of the run would be all the boss battles, but that could be said of any RPG run.

I can offer some tips I remember, and forgive me if they're already mentioned.  In BN2 you can get longsword chips swordy's in yai's phone, so you could have the lifesword before the quickman scenario.

MrSparkle mentioned BN5.  You could probably abuse sneakrun chips and the NC program.  Finding out if HP is tied to run success would help too.  Air Hockey chips are obtainable from green mystery data's in battle in ACDC town's net area.  They're good for quick damage and getting full synchro.

Mark Cannon 1 S are in green mystery data's in the Oran area1 net.  Just jack into the megaphone on the island and head southwest to the mystery data.  They'd be good for searchsoul, but you'd lose full synchro.

Katana 1 S can be obtained from some virus during the searchman/numberman scenario.  They're needed for wildbird, but I don't know if Larkman SP/DS is obtainable.  It should be, and might be worth it.

You should get either Shademan SP or DS after his scenario, but Pulsarwave 3 S isn't obtainable until after opening the door to undernet 4.  Unless you're lucky with the chip traders, or the boktai trader in the DS version.  I don't think they can be manipulated though.

That's it.  My advice is to make a Zombie S-Slasher folder.  Numberball might work too, as could supervulcan.  Tornado with Gyroman might work too, and airshot * should be easy to come by.  You can also buy thunder * from higsby's for 1000.  They'd be good for paralysis and magnetsoul.  The S-Slasher seems to be the easiest to make given the chips in the starting folders and how easy the others are to get.

I'd still like to see a speed-run of these games, so if anyone is working on run let me know and I'll see if I can help.  I need to reread the whole topic and see if I missed anything.

If you are gonna do a MMBN5DS run, how are you gonna play?
- Boktai 2 inserted for SolCrossRockman?
- MMBN5 inserted for ForteCrossRockman?
- MMBN5 inserted to put your uber folder in MMBN5DS?
- Other GBA games for extra's?

I'd use them if they're allowed, but I'm not sure if they would be.  I also forgot that I could make a new file with team protoman too, It's not like MMSF 2 where I can only have one file for each game.  I can't record DS games at the moment though, and if they release a recording device it might only be compatible with the DSi so no dual slot extras.

Here's my gunsol folders, I'm sharing them because I can:

MrkCan1 M x4
GunDelS1 * x4
GunDelS3 M x4
Thunder * x4
Lance * x4

Edit: One of the antidmg and antinavi should be removed from the M code folder and replaced with fstgauge (preset) and fullcustom.  This folder is the weaker of the two.  Since it only has three mega chips it can be used with bass cross/solcross' megachip-2 penalty.  I don't know yet how to make an O code folder.

Edit 2:  I finally figured out why I keep having weird scrolling problems when I make long posts.  It's because of internet explorer 8.  I used the compatibility view option and it's working fine now.  I think I'm going have to get a new web browser.  Maybe firefox because I like that name the best.  I'll look into getting a good one.

If anyone's reading this can you recommend a good web browser for me?  Something that blocks out ads and pop-ups to allow for faster web page loading would be great for me.
Hey ForteGS, could you please post your speedrun route through Megaman Battle Network 2 in the same format that Cormat posted his speedrun route?  Including which chips to replace in which order?

The End

If you have enough money, then you can instantly buy the Wind & Fan chips when you reach Netopia.
If not, then buy the elemental swords/blades and do the requests for money.
When I did my test, I didn't know of the Sneakrun subchips in the airplane, so that could have shaved off quite some time.
I also kinda grabbed every powerup that I could find.
The important questions are:
1. How much HP Memories do you need
2. How much Zenny do you need for the Gater PA chips & HP memories etc
What do you need the elemental swords for?
Edit history:
ForteGS: 2009-07-12 11:04:26 am
Bring me the flaming voodoo canonball!
As I said.
The elemental swords are needed for LifeSword 2, which is good if you don't have enough money for Wind/Fan (Gater PA).
I "wasted" money on HP memories and PowerUp's for the buster.
Powerups for the buster?  I thought the buster wasn't generally useful.
