My feelings on The Demon Rush
Game Page: Doesn't exist yet.
Carsten 'djcj' Janssen's easy difficulty and training course runs
Verifier Responses:
Decision: Accept
Reason: This is a well-planned and optimized run with only a couple of major mistakes (the biggest being 8 seconds it seems). Also, to the verifier who wanted the training course run rejected, skipping a large chunk of the game doesn't count as grounds for rejection.

The files I got were difficult to figure out. There were a ton of them, and the naming was tricky. I got everything that I was supposed to so that I could see the main run. However, it did not start from the title screen like runs usually do. Of course since its an easy mode run, there really isn't much to be suspicious about. The download for the training mission was incomplete and only lasted about a minute.
There weren't any noticeable audio, video, or syncing problems. The runner was not cheating.
For the main game run, here are my comments:
The runner used excellent routes. Skill with shooting was top-notch. Gun choice was smart for the situations (including putting away the gun to run faster when possible). There weren't many places in which any significant amount of time could be saved until new tricks are discovered.
Main run: accepted

Verifier: I watched the mohaa run, and a few things
Verifier: obviously it's in german, which isn't much problem for me but others might find it annoying
Verifier: although I daresay hearing allied soldiers fighting nazis talk in english is pretty funny
Verifier: err in german *
Verifier: the video quality (of the standard .avi encodes) is pretty crappy
Verifier: the game is on so low settings it looks like it is wolfenstein 3d
Verifier: but it's not about the looks, aye?
Verifier: now for the runs
Verifier: the training run is very solid, I don't have the game so I can't test if he does everything he can, but the trick he uses looks very cool (and is borderline almost-oob I guess)
Verifier: and there are no mistakes larger than a bunch of frames so that one is fine
Verifier: now for the regular run...
Verifier: the paths and the plans are very good
Verifier: similarily, tricks are pretty\ ingenious whenever they happen (not often since this game doesn't present many opportunities to use them)
Verifier: the thing I have a qualm with is the playing
Verifier: he misses a lot of shots, and most of the time it doesn't cost him anything or barely a few frames but bad accuracy always looks bad to the viewer
Verifier: but that's not too bad
Verifier: what sucks is some parts, like when he snipes at one point, he actually misses a few times, which probably cost him a few seconds
Verifier: and the worst damn mistake is in the mission where you bombard tanks
Verifier: the tanks are coming at you in waves and he generally does a good job aiming airstrikes at them
Verifier: but then he misses with the airstrike on the last tank
Verifier: and destroying that last tank would finish the level IIRC
Verifier: and he wastes like 8 seconds waiting for another airstrike
Verifier: something like that should NOT happen in a segmented run
Verifier: all things considered, it's just good enough for an accept to me
Verifier: it's not tremendously awesome, but it's not shameful
Verifier: the bigger mistakes are pretty rare

[18:17] <jewyama> which one, the full game run?
Verifier: Yeah.
[18:17] <jewyama> video and audio okay?
[18:17] <jewyama> anything that sticks out?
Verifier: The graphics settings are kinda crappy (like FEAR) so people are going to complain about that.
Verifier: SDA doesn't have an OOB rule anymore, right?
[18:20] <jewyama> correct
Verifier: OK.
Verifier: There's a shortcut that might be considered OOB since he jumps out of the level.
[16:06] <jewyama> the training video should be fixed
Verifier: k
Verifier: There's not much to it.
Verifier: He skips about 80% of it by walking on the edge of the map.
My verdict: Accept for the main game run. It looks well-planned and well-executed and I can't see any reason to reject it. Reject for the training course run; even if it's well-optimized (I can't really tell if it is or isn't) it's not very substantial nor very interesting to watch.

Finished watching the run. No great audio/visual errors are seen. In the encoding there were several parts later on in the run where it seems as if either some frames were dropped or two segments didn't match up exactly, but there aren't any continuity issues. In the last part of Mission 3 there is a major skip OOB glitch, and IIRC some of them have been outlawed before so maybe a member of staff should take a look. Other than that, the quality of gameplay is to such a high level that it reminds me of a few of the better id records, and it's a definate accept.
