Sadly I'm not kidding... The way to set up the Goht battle in Snowhead Temple is extremely difficult because he usually ends up hitting me with lightning before I can kill him. There are many other risky things I do in Snowhead that are not executable 100% of the time. But believe me, what I did in those temples is as optimized as I could possibly get, and it is because I redid them that many times.

SoulCalibrII: What Yautja meant is that number is actually a very small number of attempts.
Speed is the key.
Yeah. When it's past 400, we're talking. Tongue

...you have got to be kidding me too

Yeah, it took me way more than 40 tries.  Although they were spread out over a long period of time, which probably wasn't the best method of doing things.  And then there was the time it froze after stepping into the boss warper.

You can probably do fine on Snowhead again.  The real question is whether you can do the Lullaby skip.  Well, that, and STT pretty much has to be done in one go, as you'll be quite low on funds then.  Plus all the warping and such counts against you in any%.

But don't be discouraged.  The Lullaby skip isn't wholly essential, as neat as it would be, and STT is more than doable in 1 segment, especially in a real time run.  Twinmold is the only major worry, but the Gilded Sword and using Fire Arrows on Blue can make that fight much shorter.  Plus you'll have 3 empty bottles then instead of 1.
Catchin' them all
I don't think I ever needed 400 retries, although I got close in one of my Pokemon segments, around 300 heh. But those games are also quite easier and only need a small bit of skill and a helluvalot luck.

I just finished watching your run. Very very awesome.  Smiley I liked all the nice little (but hard) tricks. I don't really like the way it ends but nothing can be done about that really. Tongue In the end, I think I prefer any%. Really though, great job!
Merry Chrismas =)
hmm, on my MQ run I had ca. 800attemps for coccu jump + superslide. I don't know why, but I suck on coccu jump and because of the cutscences at the beginning, I spent about 60hours on doing one segment. 40trys, that's an awesome number Wink

is somebody doing any% at the moment?

and little question.
My run is played with PJ64 and fraps. Is there a chance to get accepted on SDA? the game time run was played on a pc, too, I think. Correct me, if I'm wrong

SDA does not accept emulator videos. And my run was done on the Collector's Edition of Zelda which was released for the Gamecube, not PJ64.
SoulCalibrII if you load the most recent save, then use the scarecrow or grandma to beat the game, wouldn't you have the best time (less than 3:37) as well?

Only if I had recorded the first 3 day cycle as well. As in, the 3 days stuck as a Deku...which I did not do.
Oh!  I knew I was forgetting something.  That's a bummer (you probably would have been under 3 hours.)
This run is awesome. I really liked to see the new glitches e.g. the trick to hit the Stone Tower switch (How did you find that out?!) or the trick as Deku Link in the swamp (getting past the Octo...s). It would be great to see you improving the Any% run, the current one looks sloppy because the runner gets hit very often if I remember correct (no offence to him). And I don't know what time might be possible with your glitches... sub 3 hours maybe? (I can't estimate that good...)

Glitching EB 1 flying man at a time
The inverted stone tower trick, and the Octo trick aren't new (I think both were discovered by Petrie, can't remember?), but they were really cool to see in a full run.

Merry Chrismas =)
remember:

The MM glitch master is still petrie Tongue

I could start a any% run, but it wouldn't be submitted to SDA. I can't play OoT/MM on a console anymore, because I use a PS2 controller and his buttons are a little bit different on the GNC.

ehm, and I found a new way to skip big octo. maybe useful Wink
I'm uploading at the moment

i don't remember converters being banned from SDA. so long as you're not using an emulator, and the controller isn't turbo, it should be fine.
Merry Chrismas =)
normally I play on an emulator. that's the problem

I have a theory for the anju and kafei quest.

The problem is, if I enter the whole, where I get the mask, early and activate the switch, the mask doesn't want to go the whole way through the whole. I hope you understand, what I mean.
why does this happen?
although I know nearly nothing about that quest, I have a idea^^
Catchin' them all
Tongue

You basically need to do everything you're supposed to do, but I kind of forgot what it was lol.

Regardless, you can't do it earlier as you can see in the video.
Merry Chrismas =)
you don't need the left room to open the right. simply bomb hover over all rooms Wink

I have a few more ideas, maybe it works
Wouldn't the Elegy of Emptiness work in that situation?
Catchin' them all
I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I tried it at the start and the song echoes. =/

Ah, yes, I had a similar idea a while back
http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=5jy0qVhyJBg

Yours is faster, though.

Anyways, I've looked into the Kafei/Anju quest, too, and it's really locked tight.  Kafei only shows up on the third day (although he's there all day, so you can complete it any time on that day), but to make matters worse, he won't be in there if you've gotten the blast mask or killed Sakon (which is a shame, as that would be REALLY convenient for 100%).  You can easily hover onto the Sun's Mask track, but hitting the switches at the end does nothing.  As noted, Elegy is useless.  Pretty much anything to crack open the K/A quest would be excellent, as it's a huge constraint on the 100% route.
Merry Chrismas =)
my ideas did not work.

I'll try something more, maybe we find some nice shortcuts for the quest.

could anybody make a video about the current speed run version of the anju and kafei quest?
Doin Good
So in a game time run the recoil flip past the giant Octork is slower than the C up method? It is still faster than the boat cruise, I assume? If so that's nice SS trick right, unless the C up is not as hard for others as it is me. Also the recoil flip difficulty would need to be considered in everything...

Oh and neat video Thomaz, I was supersliding in that first room, instead if trying the obvious Goron roll...

yes, I also used superslide at first. the problem of the goron roll trick is, that you often get killed by the door, if you're too slow
Skipping the octorok with a recoil flip is most likely slower since you need a bottle to carry a fairy in. You might as well get the bottle from the witch sisters and use the C-up trick instead of backtracking all the way to the beginning of the swamp.
