Greetings! My actual name is Joshua, but I mainly go by Reaku online. (The A is silent, just like in the word Read)
Been wondering around SDA for a good few years, watching the runs and hanging around the streams, until a string of recent events hit, making me want to start running games, that's where I decided to join with the community. I've only tried running a few games, but I am able to play through Wolfenstein and Spear of Destiny consistently and fairly quickly at that, I just need a good way to record my runs, so then I don't leave the videos drained of all quality.

I'm ready to make my fingers hurt worse than they already do, cause I'm having fun!
Are there enough letters here to tel

Hello there! My name is Mike, but everybody calls me death because my user name is death_unites_us. If you really want you can call me cupcake, my 6th grade shop teacher did. I'm 20 years old, and I've been gaming as a passion ever since I got my NES over 10 years ago.

Ever since that faithful day that I opened my NES I have been a gamer at heart. I have created a YouTube channel which has accumulated almost 3 million views in 4 years, over 900 videos, and from that created a forums website and general website dedicated to giving entertainment in the form of gaming. I'm not going to link any of that because I'm new here and I'm sure you hate promotion trolls just as much as I do, but my point is that I've been in the entertainment aspect of gaming for a while.

As for being good enough to run a speedrun or anything of that nature, I have always found myself better than most friends at video games, but have never compared myself to speedrunners. I've been a follower of this site for a long time, and the pure dedication and skill every speedrunner has just blows my mind. I've dedicated myself to some gaming challenges, such as my Final Fantasy X NSG and NSGNSNO runs, and my Final Fantasy VII IW challenge, but other than that I don't see myself as an overly skilled gamer.

However, over the years I have found myself enjoying some speedrun type challenges in some of my favorite games. It all began with Motorstorm (PS3) when I hit a #5 global time in a single track time trial, along with a few other top 20 times. Since then I have found myself pushing a little harder when it comes to gaming against the clock, and this mindset led to several top 10 global times in a game called Mirror's Edge (PS3), which are all recorded and available on my YouTube channel. After those times, I decided to dedicate myself to my first time-based challenge, with a game I've always enjoyed, Pikmin (Gamecube). After a surprisingly small amount of practice, and help from an existing run here on SDA, I completed a 9-Day challenge of the game, once again all recorded and available.

After the 9-Day challenge, I really couldn't find another game with time trials included that I was particularly good at, until one day I stumbled across a truly ridiculous game, Rock of Ages (PS3). It was on that game, which I thought I was terrible at, that I accomplished my first and second world record time trial times. It was awesome for me to just feel the excitement of having the best time in the world at anything, even if it was an unpopular game.

So anyways, I decided to finally join SDA because I want to have the chance to meet the awesome people here, as well as share my own strategies for many games I've played. I hope to at least help another finish their speedrun, and I also have a run I'd like to propose, I'll leave a link here once I've posted that. Until then I hope to make many new friends here!

Hey guys,

My real life name is Terrance, but of course I'm gonna go by Tergan as well.  I'm just a simple college-bound freshman who has actually been following speedruns ever since like 5th grade, starting with SMB3.  I first heard about this site after watching the Super Mario Galaxy speedrun by MilesSMB on Youtube, and I've crept around here a few times.  However, what has really sparked my interest in finally joining this site has been the _______ Games Done Quick marathons.  All I have to say is that you guys are such an inspirational community, seeing what causes you want to help in and what you like to do.  This for sure is probably one of the awesomest online communities I've ever known Cheesy  You know, this is probably unlikely in the couple of years to come, but I do really want to be able to participate in a marathon one time.

I'm not really a speedrunner myself due to the lack of materials for recording acceptable-quality footage for the most part, but some games I enjoy making runthroughs of are Megaman X and Nier.  Given that I'm going off to college and not dragging my TV around, my interest is branching towards more of the indie PC games, which I might actually be able to record one time!  Currently, I play Bastion, Breath of Death VII, UMVC3, SSF4: AE (not a lot though), The Binding of Isaac, Pokemon White, and Magic: The Gathering (Buy me 4 copies of Glimpse the Unthinkable plox :P).

I'm in a way a forum monster coming back from a one year break of surfing other gaming forums for MOBA's such as Dota and LoL.  For sure, though, I believe I've found a new home to stay in, and it's one I'm sure I'll be staying in for a long, long time Cheesy
Ys, Rockman Dash and .hack// mostly
Hello, my name is Hachrt (Like hatchet, but the last part is pronounced urt so ha•churt).  I was introduced to the speedrunning community by my friend Dragonsentinel (I'm not sure if he's just Sent here, or even DragonSentinal.  Depends on what name he can take.)

I'm currently running YsOrigin 100% (all bosses, max items) Single Segments for all characters, starting with Yunica, but I haven't recorded myself via Fraps yet, last time I tried I ran out of space about halfway through. (Since then I lowered the FPS from 60 to 30 so I'll have to try again)  That run was no good anyway.  I've also decided (with no real evidence) that Easy is just as fast as Very Easy, but my first full run of it was full of mistakes and I feel as though there are still improvements I can make to my boss fights. If Boss Rush is anything to go off of, I should be able to trim at least 43 seconds off just from bosses (most of it from 4 of the bosses, I think) There are a couple, what have to be hacked/glitched, times but I don't know where they end.

I plan on running Ys Oath in Felghana afterwards, but for now I'm focusing on Ys Origin.  I also want to do Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 once I can get my hands on a capture card. In Mass Effect 2 I know I can do any% Shepard Survives (or dies, take your pick) in under 3 hours, especially if DLC is allowed, I just have to sit down and get it recorded.  I haven't thought enough about Mass Effect though.
Hey there, I'm Ahseyo and started getting in to speedrunning thanks to cosmo on sda when he did his zelda ocarina of time runs. Which was not too long ago, just this year I found out about it. Ever since then I have looked for more and more fun speed run games Smiley
hello my name is chris but i'm also called TheBurningPunch or BP. the name is inspired by terry bogard's burning knuckle and chibodee crocket's(G Gundam fame)burning punch technique. I've been gaming since i was a youngin but it also kept me from bring in trouble.

I've wanted to do a speedrun of the game winback covert ops on N64 as nobody has done one yet.

i have a youtube channel which has alot of various games i liked from the past eras. some new games too lol
being meguca is suffering...
Hello everyone! I signed up at this site under the name "teege." This is a name for me that a friend coined not too long ago that I grew quite fond of, so I stuck with it. My first and middle initials are TJ, so my friends started calling me "teege." Though when I think about it I feel like it would probably be spelled more like "teej," but none of that is really important I suppose!

I've been creeping around this site for I'd say roughly a year and a half, but for some reason I never signed up. So here I am SDA! :]

I have never fully immersed myself in attempting a speed run, but I would really like to. Especially soon because I've taken a lighter load of classes this semester. I'm more interested in running games that I grew up with. Honestly, my *dream* record to hold would be Final Fantasy IX. It has been my favorite game since Christmas '00 when a ten year-old me found it under the tree and popped it in. Hands down the greatest gift I have ever received in my entire life. Though I've gone through the run that "Essentia" did and I have to admit that it is extremely intimidating. Still considering this one, but I guess I need to do some time budgeting to see if I could pull something that big off.

Others I have considered were Tony Hawks Underground and Journey To Silius (new interest). Also Dark Cloud, but considering how many threads I've read of people giving up on that one I'm a bit discouraged. I guess I should do some more research and try to get some more ideas on what would be good games to try. If anyone has any suggestions based on anything I've said I would appreciate it.

Hopefully you'll be seeing more of me! :]
Hey I'm very new to SDA I practice speed runs on my friends channel http://www.twitch.tv/taitaylor86 I haven't submitted anything as of yet I am trying to get a good time on golden axe 1 and 2 but I'm still working on it  also I'm trying to beat the death race record on F-Zero X

Hello!

I am new to SDA and I am not an experienced speed runner.  I am a game developer for Coilworks, and I have joined SDA in order to reach out to as many speed runners as possible.
We are currently looking in to how to support speed runners in our game, and we want to have a discussion about how we best can do this, and what is really important for you.
I want to create a thread or something similar for this purpose, but I don’t want to be in the way for people using the forums. So does anyone have any suggestions about what I should do to reach as many as possible and to establish a good contact with the community? Smiley

If you want to find out about our game or support us, feel free to visit our Steam Greenlight page at the following link:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93065252

Things we are considering for the game now:
- Customizable Ingame timer:
      * To be able to take into account loading times or not
      * to stop during pause or not
      * display color, placement and cosmetic options
      * to give penalties on different events like loading or saving
- Ghosts: Saved on the cloud and accessible for friends
- High scores:
      * Different high scores for different goals
      * Filters for global/friends/regions
      * More “game” like high scores for casual players (resetting at checkpoint with penalty time at death)
      * Optional automatic messages when beaten on specific records

Notice that these are things we are considering, and it does not mean we will actually support everything. It depends on demand, and what you are interested in. And I am sure there are a lot of things that you might be interested in that we have yet to consider.

Feel free to send me a message/mail if you are interested in any of this or have a tip/opinion about anything!

Even if you are not interested in playing the game, but you are interested in games to support speed runners. Let us and the world know. Make sure to support our game and we will make sure to talk about speed running! Smiley As we see it, this is only a first step!

… oh… and because this is an introduction, let me introduce myself and our company just briefly.
I am a 25 year old programmer and game developer currently working on Coilworks and spending most of my spare time working.  I love games, movies, friends, music... yeah, like most people I suppose. Currently living in a small apartment and living of my reserves. Coilworks is a newly started company and can’t afford any salaries.

Coilworks is owned by me and 5 other friends, and we are currently about 10-12 people working hard to finish our first game name Cloudbuilt. Our goal is to create games for experienced gamers and to bring something new to the market.

But really, my goal is just to create great games and to share them with the world.

Nice to meet you and hope to hear from you in the future!

G’day All,

I decided to Join SDA Forums after spending days watching the Marathons for charity,  It inspired me to try to attempt my own speed run, just have to decide a game ( I’ve tried the glitches and such that people showed off, and I must say Its fun to do... ). Hope everyone is well.

Hello everyone,

I'm Dana (a guy), and I've been lurking around, mainly watching marathons and sometimes people's streams, and finally I've decided I want to give it a go myself.  I want to focus on games that are probably before a lot of people's time, speedruns for Commodore 64 games.  My stream is at http://www.twitch.tv/danacrysalis , I will be playing games casually for a while to find one I think is suitable for speedrunning.  I would really enjoy people stopping by, giving suggestions on what to play, enjoying the nostalgia, or whatever!
Hello there

After long years of watching speed runs and saying "I should do that!", I finally got around to doing it!  I'm working on a single segment run of God Hand NG+, and my current best time is 1:52 (real time)
Hey Gafgar, game looks very nice. I don't think you're going to get a lot of responses here, since this is more of an introduction thread, but we've had a few developers post on the forums asking for some speedrunner input before. I'd just go ahead and make a thread in Gaming Discussion, should get a little more attention over there.

Welcome to SDA everyone!
Smörgåsbord
Hey there Gafgar!

If you want speedrunners to beta-test your games, there are atleast ten speedrunners living in Skövde atm! Just ask if there is anything you need tested! Grin Or just come by Ludendi (The Gaming Community in Skövde) on a saturday!
Hey everyone,

To keep it short and sweet, my names Sean, I've been lurking a lot over the past ~2 years after finding SDA through speedruns posted on youtube and finally decided to join the community instead of just watching it from the sidelines. I casually run through random games in my spare time and I absolutely love the amount of dedication everyone on this site has towards speedrunning. I'm not too good at writing little introduction blurbs about myself, and I'm even worse at ending them.
"Keep you waiting huh?!"
I like video games very mutch, and sometimes i make speedruns too.
My favs. Resident evil, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid Tenchu...ect and a lot of stuff
Hello! Im PPL. I bet nobody has time to read these so why even waste time typing?
Anyway I run OoT3D and search for glitches.
Caution: This user contains Kana ^_^
I actually read them, despite having been nowhere near any stable internet connection (read: in South Tyrol, Italy, 3rd world) the last two weeks and having a whooping one hundred and eighty-five posts unread to catch up with. I just usually don't bother posting in here.
Welcome to all of you new people!

Hello I'm Cooljay. I'm a TASer but I'm not unfamilar with speedrunning. Seeing I used to play any game like it was watching a movie multiple times and finish it in short time. I came here out of curiousity as I'm still unsure of how the process works.

Greetings, Cooljay.  It is nice to have more fellow TASers around here.

Welcome, Cooljay!  I definitely recognize your name from TASvids.  ^_^  I second what dunnius said.
Hey everyone!

My name's Serah! IRL I'm a 22 year old PhD student at Cal, but I'm a big game junkie on the side. I've been a big fan of speedrunning (especiall SGDQ) and TASes, but I'm just starting to get into actually producing runs myself. I'd like to put together a Cave Story run - it's always been a favorite of mine and even though SDA doesn't take freeware games I thought it'd be a fun thing to do casually!

Good to meet you all! =D
